The shipping wars in the Daredevil fandom are so wild to me because like… are y’all not just shipping everyone with… everyone?

Karedevil? Sure! Kastle? Okay! Clairedevil? Makes sense to me! Mattfoggy? Duh. Fratt? I can be convinced! Hell, I’ve written Matt/Elektra fic (I cannot remember their ship name). You could tell me Matt Murdock has Wilson Fisk pressed up against a wall somewhere and I would be like “well, they do have a certain chemistry!” This cast is too hot and the rations are too meager to start wars in the comments, my babes.

THANK YOU. I ship them so hard. Sure, he managed to blow that relationship up in like, less than 2 episodes, but idc, it's still my favorite ship of the show, they were so GENTLE BUT SASSY WITH EACH OTHER and the FOREHEAD KISS but also she got him to PULL HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS WHEN NECESSARY and he CAME FOR HER IN THE GARAGE, their tragic 'what we could have been' vibes. She continues to also be one of my favorite characters from DD... and from Luke Cage and Jessica Jones and Defenders and i guess i can include Iron Fist too even if i didn't really enjoy the show, fucking hashtag Give Me Claire Temple In Everything Please, I LOVE HER, I WOULD KILL FOR HER

Matt and Claire moved on but I have not, I shall carry my torch for Matt and Claire and the Clairedevil ship down into the depths of the sea and never shall I part from it.

Idk what happens with Matt & Karen in the comics but re: the show, I just dont see them lasting. First off, she doesn’t have the level of chemistry with Matt like she does with Frank.

Additionally, Frank isnt even on screen and he feels like a block between them. Karen keeps bringing up “help” and her frustrations at Matt over “it’s you or him” shows an underlying desire for Matt to be more like Frank when its necessary.

Karen & Frank

Jessica Jones & Luke Cage

lets get things set up and then they can all fight crime together.

I really find Matt Murdock's entire love life so interesting and important for his character.

So we know college Matt was with Elektra, as someone that fully understood him and accepted him (to some extent) and then she leaves because she can't accept that he has a "weakness"

Then he meets Claire, someone who believes in what he does. Someone that doesn't see his no-kill rule as a weakness. Which to him is very important as the two most important people in his life left because it. She sees the most vulnerable part of him and accepts him. Until she thinks he's too much, too close to what he hates.

He's in between the good and bad, too damned for the holy and too holy for the damed.

So he accepts the fact that he can never ever truly be loved, that's he'll have to settle for less and be okay with that.

Him and Foggy's argument cemented that idea.

So then Karen comes along, he likes her and she likes him (apart of him) and he thinks its enough, he's happy. But he also took things slow because he felt guilty (obviously).

And also in the long run S2 Karen and Matt could not have been sustainable in any way because Karen values honesty and Matt literally has to lie to her 24/7. So from the start i don't think he was fully invested in their relationship because a part of him would be bracing himself for when she eventually leaves.

Then Elektra comes back, the only person that's truly ever understood his goals and now is fine with the fact he doesn't kill, she doesn't resent that about him anymore. This is the one person that might truly ever accept him fully, mixed with memories of the past and this subconscious thought that maybe he doesn't have to settle for less.

Which thus begins the emotional cheating. (what he did was messed up, i can see reason behind it but obviously, not justifiable)

Then Elektra DIES. In his arms. And he's back to settling for less.

He tries to mend things with Karen (platonically and selfishly romantically) , and tells her he's daredevil. I think maybe either subconsciously or selfishly he hoped he didn't have to settle for less, that Karen would accept AND support him. She doesn't.

So he gives up being daredevil, and finally, fully accepts that he can't be loved fully, not by anyone.

THEN ELEKTRA COMES BACK AGAIN.

His main goal was saving hells kitchen yes. BUT he definitely felt some sort of belonging when he finally put his daredevil suit on again. Like a breath if fresh air, like he's himself.

Then there's a bomb, and he realises he really really doesn't want to settle for less. And he can be little selfish. To stay here with Elektra. With whatever little time they have, he's happy. Happiness and freedom he hasn't felt in months.

Both him and elektra was at peace with that. Thinking he was going to die down here wasn't that scary, it was rather blissful.

Being alive and spat out of the water pipes half dead hurt way more.

Then he proceeds to push everyone away because he doesn't want to settle for less and because he thinks he can't never be fully accepted.

Until S3 when his friends did not let his ass leave them behind.

God Daredevil s01 is so crazy because you've got insanely good writing, 2 of the finest mfs on earth (Charlie Cox and Rosario Dawson) having insane chemistry AND you've got DAREDEVIL
