guys I finally did it. I procrastinated something so hard I actually made a uquiz.
Been thinking bout the name Dolores Dei lately……. There’s the obvious Latin roots (and these are listed on her fan wiki) of Dei being the genitive of God and Dolores meaning sorrows/furies/pains etc, ie God’s Sorrows. But the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw her name was the very common Ancient Greek word δεῖ which comes from δέω, to bind, and means it is necessary to/there is need of. Now as far as I’m aware there isn’t a super obvious Greek connection to Dolores, with the closest I’ve been able to find being δολερός (note the vowels being switched) meaning deceitful. But yeah. I thought it was interesting.

hi all! im currently doing some research on fandom spaces and classical reception, with a particular interest in greek mythological 'fanon'. ive made a wee survey (100% anonymous, 100% optional) that i would really appreciate people filling out and sharing around with their own communities!
