Nick’s house is much larger than what Tolya had pictured, and as they stand on the stone pathway leading up to it, they spend a good minute just looking up and admiring the building.
They’re not at all sure what they were expecting, with Nick’s status as an angel conflicting with his personality and tendencies in a way that made pigeonholing him impossible. This excess of building is comforting, at least compared to whatever other thing they’d pictured.. some hole in the wall, small dirty and dangerous.
Nick feels too much like someone they used to know. If they could even remember who..
They try to pull the memory up as they wander through the conspicuously open door, pausing self consciously in the frame to knock.
Nick won’t hear that. Idiot.
Another handful of steps in, and they call his name. He.. IS expecting them, right? But they don’t know what state he might be in. “N-Nick?”
