Butterflies & Moths Flutter in Automated Flipbooks

Illustrations of the elegant atlas moth and paper kite and orange-barred sulphur butterflies fly through a new trio of analog animations by J.C. Fontanive. The Cleveland-born artist created a sleek flipbook machine while he was a student at the Royal College of Art back in 2004 and has since crafted myriad designs featuring birds and insects that fly around the small, metallic frame. His most recent works bring the 2D Lepidoptera to life as they burst into a flurry of quick movements, and the individual paper cards emit a subtle whirring, similar to that of fluttering wings. “Flipping pages make these handmade sculptures live in real sound and space. Creatures flit and flicker by to awaken the poetry of movement and inspire through nature and invention,” Fontanive says.
Like if you've ever thought up a clever and original -core aesthetic and then come onto tumblr only to discover that it already exists via tumblr recommending a dedicated blog for it before you even searched it up.
i wonder if we could reformat the #NOT ALL [WHATEVERS] trope and turn it into a way to raise expectations, like:
“well if some guys manage to be feminist, so should more guys” or “if some white ppl manage to be anti-racist, so should more white ppl” or “if some cishets manage to be queer allies, so should more cishets” or “if some christians manage to be actually compassionate, so should more christians” etc.
Hey, I'm workin on some of those ARMS prompts you folks posted; the next fighter I'm writin up is the "spooky disco Boogieman" prompt I came up with. Got any ideas for the two abilities he could have?
Oooh! I got a fair few!
One should definitely be about using dance to control the space on the battlefield, like maybe a dance move that reflects shots back at opponents; or a dance move that causes the opponent to “dance” and move their position on the battlefield.
And another could probably be about using fear to halt them, like say shooting a giant laser-light spooky face to stun opponents, or having your head able to explode into a bunch of disco spiders that crawl over your opponents skin and stop them while doing slow “poison” damage!
Really, the idea of Disco Boogie-Man seems like a “tricky” character mechanics-wise, IE about controlling space and messing with opponents, so that’s something to keep in mind!
And I’m glad I inspired ya on this, thanks for that!
Nothing goes to waste if you just use your imagination
