the thing is that porter and jace ARE NOT IN LOVE. they have weird fucked up sex sometimes and porter takes advantage of the fact that jace is a chronic people pleaser who’s hungry for his own power (but porter also knows jace couldn’t handle real power, not the way he can, so jace can never be allowed to ascend nor survive). and it’s not beautiful and it’s not good and it’s fucked up in more ways than one. they’ve formed their own family out of anger and blood and bitterness and jace is too weak to do anything but go along with it, and porters head is too far up his own ass to recognize that pure spite won’t make his flawed plans go perfectly. but they’re so irrevocably tied together, they don’t have a choice, nobody else will ever be able to understand or break the bond they have because they’re the only two people stupid enough to jump in headfirst without a contingency plan
