Every generation of Hunters have different clothing, given the fact that they are from different time periods.
One thing is constant, the Honmoon. We can see the state the Honmoon is in through the Hunters clothing.
The first generation of Hunters are the most powerful. Their weapons and abilities are unmatched. It shows in their clothing as well.
Which you will understand when looking at the other generations.
In the next generation we see, the Honmoon is in the pastel colors as well as the patterns. Just like the first generation. Though they are not as obvious we can see that the Honmoon is still strong and prevalent but not as much as before.
This generations outfits are still heavily influenced by the Honmoon. Which hints that it is probably still strong but it could be stronger.
We really start to see how the Honmoon is struggling with this generation. Out of all three hunters only one of them has the prominent markings of the Honmoon.
Finally we see the Sunlight Sisters and boy oh boy is it not good. There are no signs on the Honmoon in their clothing. In fact it’s just the opposite. Their clothing is blatant foreshadowing.
Celine’s shirt has pink and purple that looks suspiciously like the flames of Gwi-Ma. Their shirts have holes as well which could directly correlate to the holes that are being torn in the Honmoon.
Celine was wearing the very thing she sought to destroy without even knowing.
Luckily HUNTR/X came along and healed everything by breaking the cycles of generational shame and trauma.
Hopefully the next generation is as strong as HUNTR/X.
A little detail I find interesting is during “No Good Deed” Elphaba sheds her cape when she uses her magic and stones to start the fire.
Her original cape, from Glinda, is cast off. I think she might have even used her magic to throw it away. As if she’s throwing away the person who had all those hopes and dreams that she could make things right.
And then there’s the second cape that comes from Kiamo Ko. It’s heavier and decorated with Vinkun patterns, unlike the first cape that is lighter with no decorations. The second cape is the weight of her grief and the role of the “Wicked Witch of the West”.
A brief analysis of the various outfits worn by the Frostheim Vice-Captain
Outfits usually give a tell on a character. And, admittedly, after really breaking down Tohma’s outfits, I’ve grown to appreciate him as a character. Even with the very little we have, I wanted to talk about what he’s showing off in his fashion. So let’s get into it.
Darkwick Uniform
Here, we can really see Tohma’s character shine through. His uniform is perfect and tidy. Everything that should be in place is done so. His trademark monocle on full display, almost like a characterization of a rich man who sneers at those beneath him. The stair-fold pocket square an elaborate show of importance. The dual-toned leather shoes, shined to perfection and a display of wealth and status. Everything about his outfit screams snobby rich guy. And yet, it comes across almost as a sarcastic show. An ironic display of those he is housed with. As if being pretentious was a choice. And he wears this with utter confidence and a conniving smile.
House Uniform
This outfit is rather unassuming at an initial glance. The epaulette, which is a common theme in the house outfits for Frostheim (excluding Jin), all have these to give a more militaristic style. This is fitting for the chess thematics their characters have as well (Jin the King, Tohma the Rook, Kaito the Pawn, Lucas the Knight), as they’re seen as pieces that play in a larger strategy. Chess and military having many ties and connections in various themes. So this gives him an appearance of someone to be respected and someone who is strategic.
Coupling this with the white gloves, however, gives a different feel for the outfit. White gloves often are a sign of attention to detail, professionalism, and clean, high quality service. This fits for Tohma, who we often see pays attention to smaller details and almost plays a butler-style role for Jin. He handles various tasks for Frostheim and is very much the ‘planner’. So him having white gloves here, helps convey his house role.
Masquerade Outfit
Much like Jin’s outfit, Tohma is wearing this for a high ranking event. Dealing with the elites of society. Something he is masking well in Frostheim. His outfit is similar in many appearances to Jin, Kaito, and Lucas. Having a crisp white appearance (fitting for the masquerade theme that episode). The differences that set Tohma apart is that he has a dark blue under shirt (Lucas and Kaito similar in those regards)- showing he is a lower rank than Jin but there as his entourage. He, additionally, has a half mask (like Jin and Lucas), which shows a comfortability in being with elite society and ‘blending’ in while also showing he is an important player. There are also 3 tassels on his outfit (like Kaito and Lucas), which also shows he is working with Jin but is still ranked beneath him. However, Tohma is set apart from the others with the black gloves that drastically clash against the outfit as a whole. They stand out which, to me, is a statement. Black gloves can often symbolize deceit, deception, and thievery.
When you think of a thief, it’s easy to comically imagine them with black gloves as they sneak around their homes, pocketing your goods. But from what we’ve seen of Tohma, he hasn’t stolen anything from others (that we’re aware of). But what have we seen Tohma do? Exaggerate his appearance almost in a mocking sense. And these gloves, for me, are more of making a statement in a mocking sense. Though, this is just my perspective.
Overall Thoughts
To conclude, Tohma really gives a lot of himself away with the few outfits we’ve seen him wear. He exaggerates his appearance of wealth. He’s direct with his actions (much like how a Rook moves forward to its goals), and he keeps his true self close to his chest. His outfits, to me, really scream one of these two things;
1) Tohma is presenting himself as an exaggerated caricature of a wealthy person. He clearly is putting effort to truly show off wealth and prestige. Between his dual-tone leather shoes, the trademark monocle, staircase-fold pocket square, and his general confidence around other wealthy individuals. He’s a master at masking in where he doesn’t belong- all while making a mockery of them to their faces. The black gloves possibly even being a statement that the ‘wealthy’ are the true deceitful ones. And he is characterizing himself in a way that shows this to the faces of those who possess wealth and power. He’s snubbing them.
Or
2) Tohma is trying too hard to mask and fit in. Overly so that he’s very much obviously overdoing his look. He appears as someone who, to non-elites, looks as if he’s from high-class society. But to those born within, he’s very clearly overdoing it. The occasional slip-through of his more rough edges showing with the black gloves and even when he lacks knowledge of high-society things (such as when Jin asked for Johann Strauss to be put on and Tohma asked Johann?).
I choose to believe it’s the first one.
Tohma strikes me as clever. He meticulously chooses what he does and he does it to benefit himself and his goal. And I choose to believe that he’s purposely dressing in a way that may ruffle some Frostheim feathers.
Basically- he’s walking sarcasm in my eyes. And I’m really growing to enjoy it.

Something super weird I hadn't bothered to notice before was how rarely Clara applies lipstick, especially one that is a very deep red.
The only times we've ever seen Clara wearing really noticeable lipstick is (in no particular order):
The Day Of The Doctor
The Bell's of St. John
The Snowman
The Caretaker
Mummy On The Orient Express
The Zygon Invasion/Inversion
Notice how there's only three (or maybe a few more, sorry if there's any I happened to miss) where her lipstick is the most noticeable in Twelve's era. Contextually, those three episodes were both very intense in regards to the dynamic between The Doctor and Clara. In the Caretaker, Clara was caught between her devotion to Danny and The Doctor after her secret life with the Doctor is exposed to Danny, with Mummy On The Orient Express being their 'last space date hurrah', while the Zygon S9 two parter highlights how The Doctor almost lost his Clara to a Zygon threatening to declare war on humanity and his subsequent relief at getting her back.
Now if we were to look at this under a whouffaldi lens, it is plausible to speculate that Clara wore very noticeable lipstick in both episodes as a way to subtly please either Danny or the Doctor in the separate two episodes. It would be reasonable to think, considering how long they'd been dating at this point and how rare it was for her to do it anyway, that Clara's primary motivation for applying really noticeable lipstick in the Caretaker was to try and indirectly tease Danny throughout the school day. It's unusual that teachers would bother wearing very bright lipstick while teaching anyway so it does stand out when you least expect it. This can be proved for MOTOE too where Clara is wearing it to match her saucy flapper dress.
The same could be said for the Zygon two parter. During the exposition of the Zygon Invasion, we see Clara driving back to her apartment looking way hotter than she usually dares to be, wearing a particularly flashy black and white outfit (a potential sly mirror to Twelve's taste in black and white suits?!) while wearing the same overly bright red lipstick we saw during the Caretaker. It seems unlikely she would wear such a provocative outfit without having a specific reason for it. I genuinely can't place why else she would suddenly feel compelled to wear that specific outfit that day if she wasn't intending to impress a certain someone...
So what do you guys think of this observation (as far-fetched as it may sound)?
I wanted to talk about this for a long time now. I noticed a universal truth (haha reference to the story) of the way Tek outfits are designed, and I'd say it's true 70% of the time? Let's begin.
(I don't know if anyone has thought of this before, I think I'm onto something that's why I'm sharing)
The rule is easy. The clothes on the arms are reflecting the clothes on the legs, and in some cases the upper body's clothes reflect the lower body's. I'm not sure if this is intentional or just the author's preference, but let me show you some examples.
1. Nagyunn (or I guess Najin)
Let's start off simple. The robe is covering the upper arms and thighs, but what is actually stands out in this one and will be a common theme later is how the turtleneck and the pants are cut. The black goes over the joins but where the arm goes uncovered, the boots start on the leg. (That's why I procastinated so much.... this is hard for me to explain)
2nd: Lauzun and the girls are also here
Lauzun's symmetry is still very obvious. The sleeve of the turtle neck and his uh not sure what to call it.... black underlayer pants? are cut the same once again and so are his sweater and pants. Notice how it's the same poofy material too?~ Adds to the siluette. Write that down this will be common in the future.
Luzian's design is also similar, but not the best example because the sleeves of her hoodie (at least in this picture) are too long compared to her shorts, but I recall her boots and black sleeves to be similar length in comparison.
Yulnia's design was a great clue in this whole theory. I noticed it on her, Nuljin and Laugyunn first then i started testing it on everyone. Short sleeves and shorts and the warmers on her arms and legs are contrasting to her design, so it was easy to notice. The cut of the arm-warmer thing actually reflects the length of her boot, I think?
I'll move on from the apprentices, but the rule of symmetry (as cheesy as that sounds) is also strictly true for Marsha, Wadrin, Myusa, Nuljin (?) and more loosely true for the others. I'm going to be honest, I haven't inspected the side side characters' outfits enough.
Let's move on to people who actually wear colors.
3. Miorang and Haejin (i miss them.)
.....it's even true to these two. The lines are so clear I don't even feel the need the explain it anymore, just walk your eyes through their arm and leg, it's the same combination of clothing, even the colors are a perfect match. Haejin does have a cape but don't let that bother you
4. Zius
He might not be the first person you'd think of because of his patchy colors on his jacket (?) but from this angle you can really see how the slit is reflecting the color change on the sleeve. It's hard for me to make out, but the sleeve also starts poofy and gets more slim (i always interpeted that my way in my drawings, shows i haven't been paying enough attention) which might reflect his boots.
Knight designs, of course, are more special and detailed than the apprentices', with colors so the rule will get more discreet as we go on, but it's definetely still there. The details alter the matching parts' colors, add capes and such..... I'll put in some more examples, but I won't be overexplaining anymore, I feel like this is more than enough. ^^"
You sure are dedicated if you kept reading. I feel like I'm rambling, but here are the extra thoughts.
Crocodile and Racoon seem to have it. I did not went through the whole thought process, just by glance.
Lime haired lady knight very obviously has it. It's that shorts and T-shirt combo (with the same colors) that makes it hella obvious.
Waron is a different breed once again. I thought a lot about her design and just got to the conclusion that she's... weird. Not exactly off the rule but it would be forced. Her boots and gloves might match in the sense that her boots do have a little hem or whatever
The only character (that I noticed anyways) that very remarkably breaks the rule is none other than Hanarin. I have no clue why, her design is assymetrical in the first place, which makes her oddly unique. Maybe the author just likes her and wanted make her special and I'm the one that's going insane. It's impossible that Legia figured the whole clothing thing out and has her wear something that creates a jinx, right.
I was not kidding when I said I think about the colors of these outfits every day. I might make a similar post about them, I'm sure someone (glances towards the discord) has already figured it out, I know, I know, I don't count as very sharp there. But let me share my thoughts anyways. I can take it if people call me dumb, that's on me
Fun one! I'm glad to have this out of my system, it's been collecting dust in my drafts for a loooong time.
Mu Ciling is dressed in a bright red official’s uniform and carries a large blade. On the surface, this seems to be a fairly unique design. However, there are two other characters in this story’s world who also fit that description: Shen Luohan and Shen Xiduo, Chief Ministers of the Court of Judicial Review.
Thus far, of the two, only Shen Luohan has appeared in any visual adaptions of this world’s story, though Dashing Youth toned down the character and neglected to give him his executioner’s blade (which, admittedly, is bold for him to carry when meeting with his emperor, so the change is somewhat understandable). Meanwhile, Shen Xiduo has remained exclusively in the pages of the novel that The Blood of Youth is based on, his role in the drama version of Jin Yan’s case taken up by Prince Bai instead.
There are further connections between these characters, all to do with the mythological figure, Yama, King of Hell, judge of the dead. The name of Mu Ciling’s martial art comes from him, while Shen Xiduo is referred to as the King of Hell. It’s possible that in some fashion Mu Ciling is parodying the Chief Ministers of the Court of Judicial Review, though it’s just as likely that they’re simply taking inspiration from the same source.
SO. Lisanna's outfits. I'm hyperfixating on her now and trying to understand her better as a character and how her sense of fashion evolves and seemed to reflect her inter-personal connections
Child Lisanna: Pink dress/long-shirt with slip on shoes. I don't have much to say about this outfit right now. Maybe it was something she picked up when living on the run with her big siblings? Maybe it was a hand-me-down? I dunno. Lotta warm colors and primarily pink, I don't remember the color of her shoes but I think they were red. Color scheme reminds me of Natsu a bit but I don't know if that was intentional on her part (or Mashima's).
Young Woman/'Death' age: OKAY! Getting into some symbolic colors here. Lotta red in her outfit and at this point I'd say she's around fifteen so she's old enough to have consciously picked this style on purpose. Reds and golds are very reminiscent of Natsu's other outfits and makes the two of them seem like a matching set, her hair even matches his scarf. Very well put together for a teenager (or maybe I just had an 'eclectic' style growing up? I dunno, my opinion might be skewed.) She even had a red guild mark, if I'm remembering correctly, to match his. Just looked up an image of this outfit and she has... no pants, it seems? Pink shirt under a red dress and detached pink sleeves. Stylistic but girl... you are going to get so many little scrapes and scratches on your legs. Also, loafers. I don't know if those're the best to run in or not because I have never worn loafers before, are they more of a stylistic shoe or can they be athletic-wear too?? This outfit seems more geared towards fashion and matching with Natsu over practicality.
Young Adult/Edolas: LOTS of white and light blue! NOW, remember that everyone in Edolas has an Earthland counterpart... except the exceeds. Is she wearing these colors because there is no Edolas Happy? Natsu Drageon isn't her Natsu but he is still Natsu. There is NO Happy though, so it seems that she's trying to remember and keep those memories of her cat-son alive through her dress colors. Her guild mark color has changed position and color, possibly to further take up the persona as Edolas Lisanna, but maybe it was her choice. I don't know what this choice would indicate for her character development but it's interesting. Lotta flowy silks and 'elegant'/'beautiful' style choices. Not great for hand-to-hand combat like she'd do in Earthland, but since she can't use her Animal Soul spells (I'd assume) then it makes sense that she'd rely on magic items a lot more in Edolas.
Tenrou: Practical tank-top and shorts with flip-slops. Not a lot to say, this is the first new outfit I remember her having after coming back to the guild after Edolas. She's trying to find her footing back in the guild after having been ripped away from TWO Fairy Tails at this point and it probably feels like everyone has moved on a bit without her, so maybe she's trying to be efficient as a wizard as she gets back into the swing of things? Comfy and minimal, good for the S-Class trial, I'm sure. Edit: Lis's shirt was a pale-blue t-shirt, not a tank-top. My point about her practical style still stands, but I admit that I got this wrong. 90% of this is from my memory of the anime, not referencing the manga or show much.
Post-Avatar Arc/Alvarez War and Onward (this is the only other outfit I can remember right now): She... looks a bit like a ninja?? Back when I first read this part of the manga I didn't like her spiky pigtails but they've really grown on me, to be honest. Very different compared to all of her other outfits that I can remember, form-fitting clothing and seems easy to move in. Again, seems like she's valuing practicality in her job as a wizard over things like the flowy skirt and silky gloves of her Edolas style or the slightly accessorized, matching style of her younger days with Natsu. (Side note: I have the manga that shows her in this outfit but trying to find full-body images of this one online is like TRYING TO PULL TEETH!! What do her pants look like?? Gods above and below, I have to dig my books out again, don't I?) Vol51 has like one side-profile of Lisanna in mostly a full-body shot? Max, move your head man! I can't see Lis!! It seems like she's wearing a straight-cut long skirt with open sides- SO another easy-mobility choice! Can't see what kind of shoes or sandals she might have but I'd assume something good for mobility and protecting her feet. :)
I did see another outfit while looking for her 'Death' age outfit. A pink tank-top with a red bow and bell-bottom jeans. I don't know what time-frame this outfit slots into, but I'd guess somewhere post-Tenrou? Maybe around the GMG Arc? She's got sandals without the part that goes between the first and second toes, so I'd say this is another somewhat practical and comfy outfit. She's probably not planning to go on a job since sandals like those are not great to run in from my past experiences, so this is her in a period of 'down time' between jobs.
SO. In conclusion: ... I don't have one. I just wanted to see if there was any correlation to Lisanna's clothing choices and her developing character throughout the series. There MIGHT be a statement about how she goes from trying to match with her favorite people and focusing her own sense of style, and identity, on being a 'matching set' with someone else to later focusing on herself, her profession, and her own comfort and ability to move and use her magic freely without any sashes or fancy things getting in the way? I don't know if this is anything too interesting or if someone else has already mentioned this somewhere but I was just trying to understand Lis's character better and decided 'outfit choice' was one way to get inside her head a bit better.
ANALYSIS ATTEMPT OF (mostly the torso) of DEADPOOL'S ~NEW~COSTUME
DEADPOOLS SUIT represents his heart because of it's red color.
deadpools new suit looks close to the shape of a broken heart with more belts pulling it from the sides holding it together. I believe those belts represent the people in his life.
the more people in his life, the more in control his life is, he needs those damn belts okay.
maybe he's being held together or pulled at or secured from many directions. some people are even piercing his heart perhaps. They're touching his heart and connecting with wade.
They're connecting with wade and it's represented with gold. all the metal connections are golden, which means they're highly valuable and the most important part of him and his being, his heart. the connections with others.
his core is the darkest part of his suit, it doesn't reflect light, it's not getting any light, it's matte, it's empty, split and being held down by two red belts. his heart is maybe held down by two points. or those are the points still holding on.
but he's always split by the!!!! sword strap. it's like he's always broken and split in half, and that makes him offensive, in return (sword get it, offense) and combative. wow!
His sword strap doesn't fit into his hearts red colors, instead the "sword" aka his offensive , his offensive attitude towards others ,splits his heart and it splits wade. and keeps him more in pain and more alone. But he's also doing it because he is hurt. It's a loop of pain.
deadpools new suit is like a broken heart held together by two little pieces..... and belts. the core of him is empty.
you know and we saw 'the deadpool core' in the movie. they went to fight logan and deadpool. so wades core is fighting against deadpool and wolverine.
so deadpools core needed to be distracted by his peter, who's masked like a deadpool. so that he fits into his core completely. etc etc.
then they are able to go and save deadpool from cassandra nova that is, the sickness in deadpools mind, and destroy her.
deadpool's heart and his strength, logan, kept deadpool alive. and his core was put back in its place.
so the two little red belts represent two little hearts keeping his heart together with all their little power. and those hearts are poolverine, holding hands like holding the two sides of his heart. does it remind you of that? it's very cute it reminds me of them.
and they are differently colored than the other belts they're a part of wade now since logan did move in with him their relationship is different. logan is a part of his heart now and wade is a part of logan's heart.
