What’s the best type of training for fat loss? I’ve had this question a few times and something I want to shed some light on (my current clients would already know my answer). Before looking at a suitable training plan to drop body fat you must first be following a nutrition plan which has both the correct number of calories and a suitable macro-nutrient ration. Without addressing your nutrition before starting a training program you will be putting yourself in a significant disadvantage for reaching your fat loss goals and optimal health levels. - Regarding training you will need to be focusing on resistance based (weights) training at least 3-4 sessions per week with hypertrophy/strength phases changing every 6-7 weeks. How much cardio should you be doing? The truth is not much... I would recommend around 2-3 maximum 10-15-minute HIIT sessions per week. Some of the best conditioning I have ever achieved has been when I was focusing solely on nutrition and resistance training usually with 1-2 HIIT sessions per week (sometimes none). - Remember this is my preference and recommendation if your goal is to simply drop body fat, training techniques will change depending on your goals.
