How can we tell whether and how a prehistoric weapon was used? How can we better understand the dexterity and combat skills involved in Bron
It's truly astonishing how much we can learn when we get good, deep looks into the way things are made.
Hi 👋🏻
How are the combat skills of the recruits and hosts? If you were in a situation where you had to fight, how would you each defend yourself? , either with weapons, magic, knowing how to fight or a unique ability
I really do enjoy your asks; they help break me out of my mold and make me think outside the box and get my creativity going. This was a fun one to brainstorm on. I will be dividing them up via melee and magic users, while I believe that most of them use magic of some kind, I feel as though a few of them prefer weapons. I’ll even try to include a few examples of the type of people their fighting styles would be similar to.
I will divide this into 2 posts, melee users and magic users.
MELEE USERS:
Mr. Po | Weapon: Necktie/whip | Offensive | Attacking the weakest point.
(Kento Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen)
Mr. Po might be a phenomenal accountant, but he is also a nightmare inducing punisher. He’s not a hero like his sister Edna, doesn’t particularly associate with them either, but he has no issue getting rid of the problems that arise in his life. There was a time in Eva Villa’s life where people tried to harass her, and when Mr. Eito Po heard about it, well, let’s just say they’re not a problem anymore.
Ms. Villa | Weapon: Scissors | Defensive | Manipulating stitches in fabric.
(Lubbock from Akame ga Kill!)
Eva doesn’t fight, it’s simply not what ladies like her do, however, she’s not entirely above getting into a bit of a tiff if it means retaining her honor. After a single incident where someone tried to sabotage one of her biggest projects in her senior year in university, she made sure to have very special protections put up around her and her projects.
Jack Heart | Weapon: Halberd | Offensive | Powers change with the card suit on his cheek.
(Example in The Last Card)
Jack has had to behead many an individual who displeased the Queen of Hearts in the slightest. From a string of broken hearts to whisperers with independent opinions, and always had to do it upon command. Sometimes it was as a mindless doll, but occasionally it also came from the deepest pits of anger from behind his sweet smile.
Dalmatia | Weapon: Whip | Defensive | No magic
(Yoko Kurama from YuYu Hakusho)
He doesn’t really fight, never really needed to because his beloved Cruella de Ville had a nasty habit of taking care of things herself. However, Dalmatia has suffered from the nasty sting of a whip before and was quick to learn how to defend himself against one and how to use it against the ones that hurt him.
Jamilia | Weapon: Hyena claws |Offensive | No magic
(Rikku Berserker from Final Fantasy X-2)
Growing up in the Elephant Graveyard and getting into plenty of tussles and fights with hyenas and a few wayward lions, Jamilia had to learn how to defend herself. As sweet as she is, she has her feral moments and when she gets into a fight, sometimes she gets lost in the heat of the moment and can’t pull herself out of it and things get out of hand.
Veil | Weapon: Daggers | Offensive | No magic, just assassin skills.
(Violet from Violet Evergarden)
Frollo’s secret order of assassins were carefully trained in the art of stealth and living in the shadows that they could compete with any ninja that dared to trespass into Europe. Due to her tragic upbringing and her numbed to all acts and sense of violence when she gets into that zone, she will clear a battlefield without batting an eye or without a fear of losing her own life.

It goes without saying....
Sebastian says this sort of thing quite frequently, and until recently, I thought he was just showing off because he’s a demon.
However, now I think it’s merely a slight exaggeration (because he’s a demon)... and the Phantomhive family has long been an employer of highly skilled private soldiers. Particularly the highest servant positions, like Head Steward, the butlers, and possibly even the Housekeeper and the lady’s maid. Others, too, like someone in gardening, the coachman, etc. Anyone who is likely to be around when there is an attack should have at least some basic training, and a few positions are likely to require more combat training. Because of what the Phantomhives do.
We know Tanaka is a skilled fighter, and I cannot imagine him being the only one from Vincent’s days who would have been useful in combat.
Even though Bard, Finny, and Mey-Rin are not very good at the cover positions they have been given, they are useful as protectors of the manor. But they all have particularly odd backgrounds. Sebastian and our earl found Finny at a research facility; he has “absurd strength”, as Sebastian puts it, and he doesn’t always think too clearly, so it’s really brute strength that can get out of hand. Mey-Rin showed up with her owl-like long-distance vision, already skilled as a sniper. Sebastian found Bard on a battlefield, probably on US soil, and he’s an explosives expert. They have become professionals at what they really do, and Sebastian and our earl have made a point of it, at least to Joker.
Tanaka has been working for the Phantomhive family since Vincent was a kid. I think previous discussions I’ve had with other bloggers place him joining the Phantomhive household around 1854 or 1855. It would make (some) sense with Japanese politics at the time. He might not have been the House Steward at first, but he definitely was by the time Vincent died. We see that when he describes what the Phantomhive household was like when it was fully staffed.
So, at least a few of these people had to have been skilled at some sort of combat, not just Tanaka, who seems to favor swords, particularly the katana. In those previous discussions with other bloggers, we sort of came to the conclusion that Tanaka must have been one of the last true samurai, or better yet a rōnin, and that he left Japan while the borders were open... to get away from the turmoil in Japan at the time... while hoping or choosing to serve a new master.
It would make sense for Tanaka to train new staff in combat techniques that he knows. Recall that Vincent is “good with knives” — not just hog-tying — so he might have taught some combat skills, too.
So, when we see these (mostly) smiling faces...
...we need to consider that at least a few of them (not just Tanaka) are also highly trained killers. Another requirement for working for a family like the Phantomhives? Loyalty. Unlike Jane’s contract at Heathfield’s manor, these servants would likely have to swear an oath of loyalty. Because of what the Phantomhives do.
Imagine what would happen if one of these loyal, devoted servants (say a butler)...
...died the day of the attack, but their body wasn’t destroyed by the fire?
Imagine how little work it would take for Undertaker to use this person’s own goals (to serve and protect the Phantomhive family) to extend their cinematic records.
The resulting bizarre doll would have a demented sense of loyalty, bordering on religious zeal, to protecting and preserving the heir of Vincent Phantomhive...
**cough cough Polaris cough**
Imagine Loki feeling very despondent about the magic and combat skills he learned from his beloved mama seemingly being increasingly outclassed, and his illusions no longer being effective. Thor, guessing what’s worrying him, reassures Loki that lasting for more than one punch against a fully trained Valkyrie is still pretty darn impressive, and that there’s no shame in being blind-sided by magic like Dr Strange’s Mystic Arts if you’ve never encountered it before. He then gently suggests that Loki’s been using his illusions too often against people who are already familiar with them. Thor gets a bit sidetracked by metaphors about antibiotic resistance at that point, but Loki gets his meaning and concedes the point – after thoroughly taking the piss, of course ^^

Black Widow
Yelena Belova
Powers: None. Extensive training in espionage and various forms of armed and unarmed combat.
When the United States and Russian governments sent Natasha Romanova after the Deathless Frenzy, Yuri Stalyenko sent Yelena from the Red Room to shadow Natasha to ensure that the serum ended up in Russian hands. After being fooled into thinking Natasha was dead, Yelena headed to Rhapastan to stop General Khan and the Deathless Frenzy. She failed and was captured. It was only through the efforts of Natasha Romanova that Khan's plans failed.
Shortly after, Yelena was used by Natasha in her plans to find out what General Stalyenko was up to. Yelena was captured from her home by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Natasha, Fury, and a reluctant Daredevil had her face surgically swapped with Natasha's. Wandering New York in shock Yelena nearly lost her mind. After the whole affair was over Natasha revealed that she had done this to try and help Yelena see that spies were not heroes, but tools who get used for nasty business. Yelena felt violated.
The Avengers were later confronted by Yelena and a rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. battalion illegally mining Vibranium in the Savage Land. They attacked the Avengers in order to kill them but an intervening Sauron burned Yelena's upper body severely. Once in ICU she was offered a way to take revenge for what happened to her and eventually kill Spider-Woman in the process. A mysterious man approached her with AIM scientists in tow, promising to make her more powerful than before, even more powerful than the Avengers, which would make her the new Adaptoid.
