The original boiler guy that Mr. C hired to fix/replace it while I was gone was supposed to come back and get a new thermostat hooked up. But, he never did, or get back in touch at all. 🤨
But, as Mr. C said, that seemed a lot less pressing in August than October. So, we've had hot water but no heat in here. Way better than nothing, but yeah not ideal.
I've been running a space heater in the front room where I've been needing to camp out (since it's more accessible than the bedroom), and it's mostly been staying reasonably comfortable in here. At least in a lightish hoodie.
The rest of the house has been getting to be a different matter, though he hadn't felt a need to fire up the other heater anywhere yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ With the damp, chilly fall weather setting in, I've been pretty cold venturing into other rooms, especially in the morning. Really feeling the cold these days, for health reasons, hasn't been helping there.
But, after a little nudging? He got back on Rated People, and found somebody else who came around lunchtime to finally get the thermostat hooked up. 😊
Two guys, actually. It still took several hours, but we now have heat again! 🎉🎈
There was something wrong with the existing thermostat wiring, which was apparently one of the reasons the job took longer than expected. (More rodent gnawing damage, as far as they could tell. 👿)
But, that meant that we ended up with a rather nifty wireless one.
Which I temporarily have sitting up in a bookshelf, where I can easily reach it.
But yeah, I almost don't know what to do with working heat, running hot water, and also a fully functional shower unit* in this house again! And I'm almost afraid of somehow jinxing it by saying anything. 😬

* Some wiring for that was apparently also a casualty of sneaky rodent damage, under the floorboards. 🙃
