Yo to anyone who has seen/listened to Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, in the song "The Opera", was that supposed to be a particular opera they were mimicking, or was it supposed to represent a mashup of Russian opera, or did Dave Malloy just do that himself,

my absolute favourite thing about having a fuckton of cast recordings and then putting my music on shuffle is that I get moments where "[Natasha] heard a voice that made her flush" is followed with "My name is Regina GeooOoOrge" 😂😂
11 things you might not know about Natasha ,Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812
1. The comet of 1812 was the first production of Ars Nova to ever transfer to Broadway.
2. They removed almost 200 seats from the audience to keep the intimate feel.
3. The musical contains many passages taken word-for-word from the 1922 translation of War and Peace from Leo Tolstoy. This edition was translated by Aylmer and Louise Maude’s.
4. The song "Natasha Lost" was cut from the Broadway production but is on the original Broadway cast recording.
5. The show does not only have a Broadway cast recording, but also has an off-Broadway recording (2013).
6. Josh Groban had to learn to play the accordion to play Pierre.
7. Philipa Soo is best known as Eliza in Hamilton. Philipa also originated the role of Natasha Rostova in a number of New York productions of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 in 2012 and 2013. She actually got the part of Eliza after director Thomas Kail and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda saw the Great Comet.
8. Lucas Steele (Anatole) and Brittain Ashford (Sonya) are the only 2 cast members who played in all the productions of the great comet of 1812.
9. Mandy Patinkin was set to replace Oak as Pierre on August 15 through September 03, 2017. He left the show before he even began.
10. Dave Malloy, who had written the show including the Music, took over the role of Pierre from Josh Groban. Dave Malloy also orginated the role before it got to Broadway. He will also return to the show in it's final weeks on Broadway.
11. Sadly the show will play its final performance on September 03, 2017. It had 32 previews and 336 performances.
