I am honored to have my C3PO images for Smithsonian Magazine selected in the Editorial category for the juried Communication Arts 2018 Photo Annual issue. It won’t ever not be exciting to be included in those pages.
Each project I do hits home for different audiences in different ways, but these C3PO images have been some of my most widely resonate. This droid has a firm grip on our national (and beyond) cultural memory. It was a unique challenge to photograph this icon as a piece of machinery, a sum of metal luster and wires - apart from but as a compliment to everyone’s knowledge of and affection for this American character.
I photographed C3PO for the National Treasures feature of Smithsonian Magazine (as apt a place for him as you could come up with) where it was selected the Most Powerful Image for that publication for 2017.
Thanks to Smithsonian Photo Editor, and frequent collaborator, Jeff Campagna. And to Communication Arts
. I’m so fucking grateful, to be able to make a living doing what I love. Congratulations to Johanna Goodman on receiving a Communication Arts  Award of Excellence for her MTA Arts & Design commissioned poster "Subway Muses"! And thanks to Amy Hausmann for her award winning art direction! You can find the Subway Muses in stations through 2017 and they are available for purchase at the NY Transit Museum store.Â
It’s a bit late but I want to start the new year on a good note. I am really honored to know that my illustrations- Dead Birds, Hoarding OCD and Pedophile OCD, were selected to be featured in Communication Arts Student Showcase 2017. This was a big surprise because only 11 students are selected across all fields! The work will be published in the March/April issue so lookout for that :) Year 2016 was a year of more lows than highs for me but thanks to my awesome friends and family and incredibly nice people that I met, I made it through! So here’s hoping for a great 2017 for all of us!✨✨
