Today is World Mental Health Day! Check on your friends. Where do you start on mental health, so broad a subject it's impossible to cover it all. Depression, anxiety, grief or whatever form of mental problem you can think of, isn't picky about who it chooses - it can affect any of us, even me, even you... How often do we slow down and take a note of what is happening inside ourselves? It can be scary to do, but not doing it won't make it go away and may be an indicator that it's needed. How often do we look up from our smart phones to see the people around us, sometimes right in front of us and really see them? I know I can look up a bit more often myself. Just because it looks like someone has it all together doesn't mean they don't have any battles. We are all so good at covering up what is really happening inside, out of fear of being rejected, fear of being found out as a fraud (of what?), shame of not being who you think you are supposed to be (we are our own worst enemies sometimes), the list goes on. It's ok to not be ok - don't try so hard to be strong, ask for help.
