Whatever happened to that “F*** Yeah Controversial Characters” blog?

It just up and...disappeared behind some password screen.

Anyone know what happened to it?

Its so weird for me when seeing people defending controversial woman characters and they accuse general audiences of adoring similar characters who are men.

Like I don't doubt its true

But I often find myself disliking woman characters usually because they remind me of fictional men I dislike (mostly characters from superhero comics, and many of them heroes going through a "troubled phase" while given too much sympathy for awful actions)

And I apparently stay far enough away from the circles that adore bad boy characters that are boring to never hear about them

Another complaint about the “Shiki” fandom...

It seems as though there are certain corners of the fandom that treat Dr. Toshio Ozaki like he’s some sort of psychopath who would kill you as soon as look at you. But that’s really not fair to him. Dr. Toshio Ozaki is depicted from very early on as extremely protective of the village and its inhabitants. This is partly because he’s an actual doctor, whom the villagers count on to keep them healthy; but it’s also the case that he appears to be the village’s de facto patriarch. There’s a point in one of the first few episodes (can’t remember the exact one) where he says “I’m not gonna let [the epidemic] kill my village” (emphasis mine). He seems to fancy himself at least in broad strokes as a caring, nurturing father figure who’s going to protect all his kids, as it were. He meets his match in Sunako and her shiki friends, though, and he can’t protect the villagers from them nearly as well as he would want to. That drives him to more and more extreme behavior as the series goes on. A desire to look after the well-being of the village also drives Dr. Toshio Ozaki to do everything in his power to avoid abandoning the village, even as it falls to ruin, until the last minute, where finally he has to accept that it’s doomed.

But even at his worst, he actually doesn’t come across as completely heartless. When he tortures Kyoko you can see him going out of his way to ignore the fact that it’s her, like how he covers her mouth with tape so she can’t talk and averts his eyes from her face as he stakes her to death (and he does try to put her to sleep--it’s just that anesthetics don’t work on vampires). So it’s not that he isn’t conflicted about what he’s doing, but he does it anyway because he sees himself as having no choice. Additionally, toward the end of the story we see Dr. Toshio Ozaki order his buddies to lock up people who’ve been bitten by shiki until they come to their senses. It’s Tomio Ookawa and a few others who decide instead to kill them all, without Dr. Toshio Ozaki’s blessing.

Granted, I’m not saying I think all the stuff he does is morally correct, but the series doesn’t ask you to think he’s morally right. It just asks you to see where he’s coming from, and I’ll say it does a fine job of laying it out.
