Not gonna lie, given that we live in a culture that valorises the willingness to labour without expectation of reward and the stoic acceptance of one’s own death as a necessary sacrifice for the greater good as two of its chief heroic virtues, this whole business of rhapsodising folks who’ve been economically coerced into working dangerous jobs during a pandemic as “heroes” is feeling pretty damn sinister.

have you ever had one of those moments when your room is messy and you haven’t cleaned it in days but like you’re not ready to clean it because then you have to face other stuff that’s happening in your life? like you’re procrastinating intentionally of fear of failure? i keep hearing: you start to get your shit together by starting to clean your room which is true...that’s giving you a fresh vibe but then you’ll feel like you have to do the other things and i’m just not ready yet.
