COVID-19 Relief Fund for LGBTQI+ BIPOC Folks

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the particular vulnerability of queer, transgender, non-binary and/or intersex Black, Indigenous folks and other LGBTQI+ people of color (QTIBIPOC folks). Due to our community disproportionately experiencing a lifelong arc of violence and discrimination, many of our community members are impoverished and housing unstable. Many folks in our community are self-employed or in the service economy, and living with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and/or compromised immune systems. Those of us losing income due to cancelled gigs or clients have very few places we can turn for financial support - even when that support is necessary to pay for rent, utilities, food, medication, and other basic necessities. QTIBIPOC folks have been leading efforts around healing justice, disability justice, transformative justice and other community-wide skills that will get us through times like this global pandemic. Now we are asking those who have been inspired by our teachings and our work to help ensure that we survive.

The virus is skyrocketing here in Norway, and things are not being handled well. We already had issues with hospitals being filled to overcapasity, before the virus even came here, and now they are totally unprepared. They’re legit telling people who experience symptomes not NOT go to the ER or see doctors, but call a health establishment, which would be fine, if not for the fact that the lines are constantly flooded with people with minor sniffles convinced they’re dying.

My parents are currently on vacation, and they left before the virus exploded here and people told them it was good to go, and the virus still isn’t where they are, thank god.

But, if I were to get sick, I’d legit have no idea what to do. I’m in the high risk zone because of my only one fully functioning lung, weak heart and defect immunesystem.

I’ve been joking about it and keeping it light for a long time, but I guess with schools, gyms, malls, and other public spaces shutting down, it’s getting a bit serious. I feel like nobody will take me seriously now, because I’m always joking and being lighthearted about my health issues, but like, I don’t wanna die? I don’t wanna be seriously ill all alone with no idea what to do?

And then I feel like a burden if I say anything to anyone, because either they get worried about me, or they’re already terrified of the virus for their own sake, have health related anxiety or have older family to worry about, and the last thing I wanna do is to make things harder for them, because I know they’re already going through aboslute hell these days.

I’m just getting a bit overwhelmed I guess, and I feel like I have no outlet for it, and it’s getting kinda bad.
