On a corner shop a few blocks from the Crow Club sat a young woman who did tailoring work

But that wasn’t all she did

By a special few, she was known as a talented forger; hand-printing documents and retrieving stamps or crests from large corporations

Your biggest customer was Kaz Brekker who relied on you for your quick work and perfect presentation. You hadn’t let him down just yet

You’d met most of his prized crooks, but two in particular came often

Wylan was always very polite, you noted; someone you had trouble seeing in such a field, but after a gradual increase in small talk while waiting, you realized there was a much thicker skin to him than the eye could see

Nina was the second person who came in often

From the moment you laid your eyes on her, you were a clumsy mess

She had made you drop your cup of pencils and blush like an idiot when she proceeded to assist in picking them up

The thing about you is that you’re hard to read

You are always very to yourself so when Nina took a liking to you, she began to realize she wasn’t exactly sure if you felt the same way back

Although you were clumsy around the Heartrender, the scientist made you chuckle and talkative. Both were very common signs of fancying another

When Nina discovered her feelings for you, she ranted to Wylan and the two of them made a plan to analyze your behaviour when they showed up together

However, that still didn’t work

You were still quiet and mildly uncomfortable

One day, Nina had enough

She ran into your shop, stumbling through the door and breathing heavily from trying to outrun the anxiety she knew would show up at any second regarding her choice to confront you

You—for the millionth time—jumped out of your seat, sending your things clattering to the floor. This time, you sighed and left them there

“I have an important question,” said Nina, putting her hands down on your table a little harder than intended.

“Okay.”

“For a long while now I have thought you were very pretty and I wanted to ask you out but I am really confused on if you like me or Wylan so I really need to know but also know that if you don’t want to go out, that’s okay too.”

You weren’t sure what you were more surprised by: Nina’s belief that you may have feelings for Wylan or her constant confidence washing away.

“Why would I like Wylan?” you asked.

She spluttered. “You’re awkward around him just as you are around me.”

“I’m awkward around everyone.”

Her mouth opened, then clamped shut. “Oh,” she replied.

A grin slowly grew on your lips. “You think I’m pretty?”

The shyness came back to Nina, overtaking her body. She leaned on her leg and crossed her arms, head tilting. “Maybe.”

“What were you thinking?”

“About what?”

“Where were you thinking of taking me?”

“Like on a date?”

“Yes!” you exclaimed with a chuckle.

Nina stifled an idiotic smile. “Wherever you’d like, darling.”
