the madman he's done it
I say this as an artist, a coder/data person, and someone who's had to key my own shitty greenscreen before: this, this right here is the way AI should be used
to solve an actual problem too complex for existing methods
as a tool to assist humans with the annoying part of the work instead of replacing them/the fun part of the work
trained exclusively on a custom data set that wasn't scraped/stolen and is specifically catered to its purpose
run locally
free & open source
he says in the video currently it's apparently still quite intensive to run the tool (you'd need like a gaming PC level of VRAM) as is common with ML (this is why I strongly advocate for Not Using AI for shit that you can easily do with non-AI tools that take significantly less processing power), but hopefully (due to the open source nature of it = people can access & build upon & improve it) the community will sort that out in future!
I've been MIA because I've been traveling (very, very far and it was fun but too exhausting to also do fandom) and I'm still so jetlagged but now I'm back and the first thing I see is Corridor Crew guys just did another episode on Avatar (and this one is very Spider heavy)
The most shocking part is that Spider is fully CG in the final scene. They show Spider helping Kiri to find Eywa but I'm pretty sure Joe Lutteri means the actual final scene in Oma when Spider is accepted by the ancestors. Spider always did look bit weird there but I thought it was lighting and the additional processing on the scene not because he was animated there.
THE BATMAN, but with ADAM WEST 1966 MEETS 2022
I didn't expect to get emotional from a video about movie effects but here we are
Mark: I got eye surgery so I now have perfect vision.
