One of the cutest moments for Fjord and Jester is when he pops his head out of the mirror while she’s trying to get in there and says, “Give me your hand,” and pulls her in.
And poor Laura is too sick to be there for it.
Travis: [deep inhale] Uh, I’m going to, uh, see crazy-ass Caleb jump on Yasha’s back, I’m like-
Fjord: Yasha, we gotta find that glacier wall, RUN!
Travis: And I’m gonna take off running past Yasha towards the direction in which I think the glacial wall is.
Mercer: You’re still currently grappled.
Travis, in a panic: IIIIIIIIII-
Mercer: You have no movement.
Travis, with a Texan drawl: -ayum gonna tryyy to brea- I’m gonna uuuse the Summer’s Dance bonus action to Misty Steeeeyup.
Mercer: There ya go.
Marisha, softly: Yaaaasss.
Ashley: Misty step on that bastard.
Taliesin: So much crazy shit-
Mercer: You [teleporting noise] appear out of its grasp. [monstrous snarling]
Travis: -and I will, uh, continue running towards la por-tal.
Mercer: Okay. You run over, and there is no crystal wall on this side
Travis, in a pitch that could break glass: WHAAAT!
Taliesin: Oh no.
Mercer: And it’s just a hallway that ends.
Travis, still squealing: Youmeanthattheresnothingthere?!?!
Mercer: Yup.
Travis: CanIputmyhandout?????
Marisha, also freaking out: Yeahyeahyeahyeah yeah
Mercer: It’s a hallway, and it just comes to an end on that edge.
Marisha: GogoGO BACK for the fACKin DAGGER
Travis, sounding slightly like a whistling teakettle: Don’t come back this way!
Liam: [frantic clucking]
C2E68-Reflections
Ok I actually started this one before I could record predictions, so this one is coming from having already listened to an hour-ish. Thoughts on the first chunk:
The nightly watches always provide the best opportunities for character one-on-ones. They are always *chef’s kiss*, but I feel like tonights were on another level entirely. I have SO MANY THOUGHTS
Nott and Yasha: wow these two need to interact more. They are both so bad with people in such opposite ways that they just kinda bounce off each other. Nott can be so abrasive and paranoid and then Yasha is surprisingly ernest. AND! Nott giving away Caleb’s secrets killed me! I genuinely couldn’t tell if it was a character choice or if Sam himself forgot. And Yasha kinda half brought it up in the worst way possible the next morning! I was listening to the podcasts for that, so I have to go back and watch to see if Caleb picked up on that or not. If he did I am going to die. Such Drama!
Beau and Caleb: I really feel like the death convo shows what works so well about their dynamic. You have the most brooding byronic sad-boy ever to sigh dramatically, and just this mad ADHD-vibes lady who has never had a single philosophical thought in her entire life.
Also I’m putting my Widowbrave conspiracy goggles back on, but there is NO WAY to explain that conversation about Nott platonically. He feels foolish that he held her so close now that he knows she’s married! And he was so hesitant to put any labels on their relationship! Caleb is doing what Caleb does best right now, repressing and pining, and nobody can convince me otherwise.
Fjord and Caduceus: This is the first episode that I really understand why people shipped these two before Cad was confirmed Aro/Ace. There wasn’t as much to their reactions before and I didn’t really get what people were latching onto, but the new angle with the Wild Mother gives their dynamic a fascinating angle. Fjord is looking up to Cad so much, and I love the idea that he’s having a healthier, more loving relationship to divinity being modeled for him
Caduceus both was and wasn’t where I expected him to be in this ep. I love the idea that his reaction to fear is smiling/laughter, but I also feel like he’s using that to deflect from showing/discussing his own issues again. It’s actually taken me a long time to warm up to Caduceus. I think he’s a fascinating character, but he’s often just so judgemental/condescending and even arrogant at times that I was surprised more people weren’t put off by it. I think I’ve warmed up as he’s gotten closer with the other Nien and his caring seems more and more genuine and less priestly-judgemental.
Wow that was a lot! Didn’t realize how much I had in me, but this has been such a good charecter ep even in this first little bit. I can’t imagine what the rest will be like, but I don’t think I have anything but Pain to look forward to.
okay okay okay but Caleb, morbidly contemplating what’s on the “other side” and thinking about the afterlife and the repercussions of his actions-- hell and punishment and the retribution he feels he’s earned-- and then crossing the bridge into a room of fractured and ominous mirrors only to see his friends vanish one by one, desperately trying to keep his remaining party members in sight as he scrambles to figure out how to get them back, trying not to think about how he could be the last... how he could lose them all and only be surrounded by endless reflections of... himself.
lovely angst we’re having today, don’t you think?
I might have to take a break in my catching up CR2 via podcast. I’m at ep 66rn and i know the few following episodes can be harsh and I’m in a bad mental place right now.
Any non too spoilery insight on this ? (Yes, I know what happens at the end of ep69)
Laura Dawn Bailey...
was sick at home and Jester was STILL the MVP of that episode...iconic
