Danny didn’t back away from Hiccup when he came and stood by her, “I-I just wanted someone to see it- just see me, a-and know. I didn’t care if you pointed it out or not, I just wanted someone who would see it as something bad and not something I should be proud of” she choked out.
When Toothless wrapped his wing around her, she leaned into him closer while continuing to cry. When Hiccup placed his hand on her shoulder, she flinched back slightly before hesitantly leaning into his touch, “I’m trying, I really am, but I just can’t. I can’t separate myself from it if I was there during it, I was a part of it, there is blood on my hands…” she replied while looking at Hiccup, her face a mess of emotions.
(Casually makes an oc with the most insane, tragic backstory 😝)
He looked her in the eyes. "I see you, and...I may not know everything you went through, but I do know what it's like to want to be seen." He knew his years of being known as the village mistake were nothing compared to what she's been through, but it was similar in that one way.
He took a breath, looking away at the ground. "I can't say much about the scar, but no one should tell you how to feel about it. It's not their place."
He looked back at her. "Danny, this isn't going to happen overnight. It won't be easy, but I know you can get there. Start small, and build up from there. These things...well, they take time. There's no rush."
His eyebrows furrowed together. "Unless you spilled the blood yourself, or ordered another to, there's no blood on your hands. Even if you did, would you have had any choice? Based on what I've learned so far, something similar or worse would have been done to you if you tried to stop it. No one can blame you. You're what, thirteen? You grew up in that environment, none of what happened was your fault! Alright? None of it." He needed her to understand, to stop blaming herself. She was far too young to have this much pain in her life. How could anything she had gone through been her fault? Hiccup blamed Drago, he could see that Danny had a good heart, but it had been suffocated and pushed down by those around her. It made him angry, realizing the full horror of what she had to endure growing up.
