A throwback to a crewel work embroidery class I taught at The Royal School many moons ago. Stitched in Appleton wools on traditional linen twill I just love the pink accent colour!

Colour is day 6 of @seam_collective #SeptTextileLove . Colour takes a major part in my embroidery work. I love the stage of picking my colours, and seeing how colours work with and against each other. Here is fine crewel wool on silk, the main vein on the leaf is Portuguese knotted stem stitch.

My other half chatted me up exactly 10 years ago with the question "Did you know the Bayeaux Tapestry is really an embroidery ?", so to celebrate our anniversary I made him a mini one and mounted it in a vintage tin. It's his favourite art work so he knew alot about it and I knew alot about embroidery. A very good match indeed. Workshops cancelled.

It’s been a strange year!  November and December workshops had to be cancelled due to restrictions imposed by the French government due to you know what!  This lovely crewelwork robin was intended to be the project for December.  II so enjoyed working on it that I finished it off.  I can always use it for next year...

Ceci a été une année étrange!  Les ateliers de novembre et décembre ont dû être annulé à cause des restrictions imposés par le gouvernement français en réaction à vous savez quoi!  Ce beau rouge-gorge en laine crewel était destiné à être le projet de décembre.  J’ai tant aimé broder la pièce d’étude que je l’ai terminé.  Après tout, je peux l’utilser pour le décembre prochain...
