The reason it hurt Lizzie so much to see Jay that first time on Joaldo wasn't just because Jay reminded her so much of Ava.

It was because because Jay was, of all things, a pirate.

It was because Jay was living proof that Lizzie had failed. That there was a way Ava and her could have been together, succeeded together, on the same side.

If she had just tried harder, finally convinced Ava to leave the navy for good, they could have been together. Ava would still be alive.

To Lizzie, Jay is an afterimage, a reflection of what Ava could have been.

A reminder forever following her, close to the one person from Lizzie's past she could never bring herself to abandon, forcing her way into Lizzie's life, forever a reminder to Lizzie that she failed, she failed, she failed-

I realised the other day that we actually have like zero idea how much physical trauma Gillion has been through???

In episode one, Charlie described Gillion as "weirdly pristine", having zero cuts, bruises or scars.

At first i was like "oh it's because hes sheltered" but then i relistened to Gil's trials in the pearl, where it confims he trained in simulations, which it is implied the elders controlled. And that opens up a WHOLE other fucked-up door.

How many injuries has gillion sustained in these simulations? How many times has he DIED?? How many times has he felt agonising pain, had the world fade to black, and woken up with nothing but mental scars??? He could have been tortured, over and over and over, and he'd just wake up like nothing had ever happened.

He speaks of the elder's training, he speaks of the elder's punishment.

There's no evidence.

I haven't written poetry in a hot minute so it's probably pretty damn bad, but that post really inspired me so i thought I'd let myself write something just for fun. might delete later tho we'll see in like an hour lol (also no pressure to rb btw, i wrote this cos i wanted to for me)
