You pick-either fluff 9 or fluff 23 for Edward and Alice?
A/n Hello hello, thanks for the request! I figured one of the ways I could say thank-you to all of my wonderful followers is to actually answer the requests in my inbox. Yeah. That would be a good place to start. Sorry I’ve been sitting on this one for so long! In my mind, this one takes place before Bella comes into the picture, just so the readers know :) Thanks for the request <3 I forget how much I love writing Cullen content!
Prompt: Fluff 23 from this list // “well, the probability of that is 0, but you go ahead.”

Outside, rain pours.
The Cullen family lounges about, having nothing of particular interest to do on this wet Sunday afternoon. The tune of Esme’s gentle hum floats down the stairs, causing Edward to smile from his spot reading at the dining room table.
“That’s beautiful, Mom,” he murmurs, enjoying the babble of happy thoughts that rush through her mind at his use of the title.
From the basement, Emmett groans, loud enough for the whole family to hear. “Can we do something? We’ve been sitting around all weekend. Let’s go somewhere — play baseball!”
“You know we can’t,” Rosalie shoots back, regret in her voice. Of all the family members, Rosalie loves the competitiveness of sports the best. “There’s no thunder — it’s too noticeable.”
Emmett grumbles, and the sound of him flopping back onto a couch can be heard throughout the house.
Edward returns to his book, using the steady sound of pencil against paper as Alice sketches in the living room to tune out the other noises. What he can’t tune out, however, are the thoughts. But something in Emmett’s—a fleeting idea that he quickly disregards—gives Edward pause.
“You know,” he muses, closing his book thoughtfully. “That’s actually not a bad idea.”
Really? Emmett’s thoughts get louder with enthusiasm. There’s a small mud slide a couple miles north — I found it when I went hunting yesterday. Bet the rain’s made it worse! Think Jazz would join in?
Edward grins, enjoying the thought of throwing his brothers into a puddle of mud and fighting the boredom with wrestling. But as his eyes rest on the face of his favorite sister, a better idea comes to mind.
He smiles broadly, knowing the most satisfying fight will come from the one who can predict his upcoming moves and counteract his own mind reading. If the others are thinking about their choices, it’s all too easy to beat them. With Alice, however, it’s a fair fight. “Definitely. I think I can get a fourth to join us, too.”
Alice scrunches up her nose, her distain for the idea evident. “Well, the probability of that is zero, but you go ahead.”
Edward stands.
“No!” Alice shrieks, throwing herself to the side as Edward lunges in her direction. Alice’s clairvoyance gives her a split second of warning and allows her to avoid Edward’s grip, but he picks her countermove from her head, hurrying to block the path she wants to take. When he’s chosen to make the move, Alice darts left, catapulting herself away before her brother can redirect. She sticks her tongue out, racing up the stairs triumphantly.
Edward groans but gives up the pursuit, seeing the resolve in Alice’s mind. She has no intention of mud wrestling.
Alice skips into her bedroom, smiling at the sight of her husband lying languidly on their duvet with a book.
“You think he would learn by now,” Jasper chuckles, opening his arms for Alice to join him.
Alice does, smiling brightly. “One day Edward will learn not to bet against me — I’m sure of it.”
From the living room, Edward snorts.
In exactly three years and sixty-four days, Alice shoots back mentally, completely confident in her assessment.
Edward chooses not to respond.
