'You can't sleep because you're having a sickness flare up. The Cullens know just how to look after you.'

You lay in the oversized bed, staring at the ceiling as another wave of nausea and ache rolled through you. Sleep had been teasing you for hours: close enough to taste, but every time you drifted, your body yanked you back with a spike of discomfort. The blanket felt too heavy; the unnaturally quiet hum of the house (even though you were used to it) only amplified the pounding and swirling thoughts in your head. You tried to tune into Bella’s soft breathing, but nothing stopped the noise of discomfort tonight. You’d just have to get up.

With a soft sigh, you slipped out from beside Bella (with whom you often shared a bed, since you were the only two who slept in the house), careful not to wake her. Your bare feet padded across the cool, wooden floorboards as you made your way downstairs, one hand trailing the banister for balance. The house was dark and still, but you knew better than to think you were truly alone. Halfway down, you heard the faint rustle of movement— or rather, you felt a presence. Jasper appeared at the bottom of the stairs, golden eyes glowing softly in the low light.

“Can’t sleep?” he asked gently, a wave of calm already easing in as he felt his way around the edges of your pain. You shook your head, leaning into him when he offered his arm. “Just… feel like shit tonight,” you scoffed. “What’s new.”

Before Jasper could reply, Carlisle stepped out from the kitchen, a glass of water in one hand and a small pill in the other. “Edward mentioned you were feeling unwell,” he said, eyebrows furrowed with that calm and earnest concern that years’ of bedside manner had taught him. “We weren’t sure when you’d be down, but Alice didn’t think you’d fall asleep.” He swept across the room— something you were mostly used to, but still found slightly unnerving when Carlisle or Esme did it, being the most ‘human’ of the bunch— and pressed the glass into your hands. Slipping the oil into your hands with a firm look, his cool fingers brushed your forehead to check for fever. He hummed in approval, satisfied you weren’t too sick.

As you swallowed the painkiller, Esme emerged from the living room looking mildly concerned, and wrapped a soft throw around your shoulders. “Come sit with us,” she murmured, guiding you toward the wide couch, rubbing soothing circles on your back. Alice was already there, knees pulled to her chest, patting the spot between her and Rosalie, who was playing absentmindedly with her hair— until you stepped in, and her face lit up with adoration.

As you entered, you felt a whoosh of air pass you: Emmett had shot down the stairs with a mountain of pillows from his own bed (rarely used, unless you fell asleep in there), and began arranging them with surprising delicacy on the sofa between the girls. “Can’t have our Princess uncomfortable,” he teased, though his eyes were full of love as he helped you settle. Usually, he’d sweep you off your feet and place you where he wished, but tonight he just hovered nearby, worried you were too delicate for rough housing.

Edward drifted in last: you guessed he had already sensed the specific flavor of your discomfort. “You to blame for all this?” You smiled at him, gesturing to the scene of absolute devotion before you: every member of the Cullen coven strewn across the living room with various items to help you through tonight. “Sorry. You know I can’t help myself,” he smiled coyly. You didn’t reply: you knew he could hear your gratitude without you saying it aloud.

Jasper kept your calm steady while Carlisle adjusted the heating. Surrounded by their quiet voices and gentle touches, the feeling of sickness still lingered, but it no longer felt quite so heavy in the dark. Soon enough, you drifted off under their gazes, warm and loving despite their cool blooded nature.

How the Cullen's would react to their S/O being jealous Headcanons

Edward

Edward would be find it a bit amusing that you were jealous. He'd smile and tell you have nothing to be jealous about. And that he was yours. Eternally. He'd definitely pepper you with kisses afterwards.

Jasper

Jasper Hale would be give you one of his charming smiles. He'd cupp your face and whisper sweet nothings in your ear. If he needed to he'd use his gift to help calm you so that if you needed to you all could talk it out.

Carlisle

Carlisle would give you a gentle smile. And explain kindly that you have nothing to be jealous over. He'd reassure you and he'd take you into his arms softly, careful not to hurt you. He was a doctor and he knew exactly how to make you feel loved. Carlisle was considerate and warm like that. He may be a creature of the night but he has a heart of gold.

Emmett

Emmett would be burst out laughing of course you may not appreciate that but he'd reassure you and make sure you knew you had nothing to fear. And he definitely would make you laugh by the end of it with you snuggled in his arms.

Bella

Bella would be surprised. She wouldn't exactly expect it. And she would try to comfort you and make you feel better, she would try to ease your anxiety. Bella could be a bit awkward and unsure of herself at times as well and so she explained she understood how that felt. And tried to help you understand it's okay to be jealous but there isn't anything to feel jealous over. She loves you and only you. And no one would change that.

Alice

Alice would see it coming from a mile away. And before anything escalated she would comfort any insecurities you had. You would be very confused but still grateful for her reassurance. She always knew two things what was to come and how to make you feel loved.

Esme

Esme would make sure you would feel loved. Everyone feels jealous and she would make sure you knew you were cared about. She never would want you bottle it up or feel timid and alone in anyway. And so she would bake you some sweets and you two would snuggle down on the couch watching feel good movies.

Rosalie

Rosalie would feel caught off guard. She would become quiet for a few moments but then speak up and explain to you thoroughly that you were the only human she loves. You would be doubtful but she proved to you, you had nothing to fear. But to love. Rosalie would take you down to the garage and you'd watch her work, it always did the trick for you. You found it to be calming and immersing to watch her work. It put a loving smile on your face.

Twilight, but the only difference is Esme doesn't exist. Think of the relationship dynamics of the Cullens without their mother.

-Edward would still do anything to make his father proud but wouldn't have the consistent love and pride of his mother to support him through his mistakes. Carlisle would if course try to console him and tell him it's okay but it wouldn't be the same.

-Rosalie would be the only female in the coven until weirdo little Alice shows up. She wouldn't feel the same pressure as Edward, but she would still have severe insecurities without that calm, soothing presence of her new mother. She would be even more sharp around the edges and even harder to win over for poor Bella.

-Jasper wouldn't fit in the family quite as well. He wouldn't be able to let his gentle side show, too afraid of this coven trying to cannibalize itself like his old one. He wouldn't trust his brothers with his entire chest without that soft warmth of his mother to guide him to emotional sharing. Without his mother's empathy he would still think himself a horrible monster. He would be restless and even more ruthless.

-Carlisle would be exhausted. He would put his entire heart into ensuring his children are happy and thriving but he wouldn't be able to hold together the young adult facade. He'd have to continue to try and pass himself off as Rose's older brother. His nights would be endlessly spent at the hospital and his days spent agonizing over his children. Think of Carlisle having to fend off horny nurses and patients even more than he already does. Carlisle would worry himself into dust.

-Emmett would be unstoppable in his shenanigans because as much of a father's boy as Edward is, Emmett is a mommas boy ten times as much. He would throw himself into more trouble than he could handle and constantly have to be bailed out by his brothers. He would sheepishly endure the scolding of his father. Really, only his mother's love can truly break him of his bad habits. Without her he's unbottled chaos.

-Alice would not be quite tethered. She wouldn't really know what her family was missing but she would feel in her bones that there wasn't something quite right. She would have a harder time staying in the present and not wandering endlessly in the potential futures in front of her. She would be jagged around the edges too, but not quite to the degree of Rose. Without her mother she wouldn't shine quite as brightly.

-Bella would feel even more of an intruder when she eventually joins the clan. It would be hard to be adopted by her sisters without the warmth of their mother to guide them. Bella would become the family matriarch, just as she was in her human life, and would take it upon herself to run the family like she did for her mom. It would not earn her any Brownie points either. Esme's empathy wouldn't be there to shield Bella from their harshness.

All the characters would be more vampire and less human without Esme. She's not a huge character in the series, but her love is a bright light in which all the other characters glow. Her softness and influence is felt in every family moment, every coven decision, and every mistake. She's the family they protect and the family they fight to keep because without her their ties would not be nearly as close.

Rosalie had traveled to a hospital in a neighboring town to volunteer in the maternity ward. Her motivation wasn't solely selfless; she yearned to be in the presence of infants. Rosalie adored babies for their small size and pure innocence. Occasionally, she'd volunteer in the pediatrics ward, where the sick children often mistook her for a princess due to her beauty. However, on this day, her heart was set on spending time with the babies. It was her favorite pastime, second only to being with Emmett. She would occasionally downplay her attachment when her family questioned her about her frequent visits to the hospital.

As Rosalie left the hospital, an overwhelming urge to cry overcame her, though no tears escaped her eyes. Instead, her venom-filled eyes burned, but she didn't shed a tear. A pang of jealousy gripped her as she thought about how many parents took their children for granted, complaining about the demanding baby and toddler years. Her thoughts drifted to Renesmee, whom she had practically raised during her early, albeit brief, years. However, Rosalie could never be Renesmee's mother, as the girl knew Bella as her mother, despite their strained relationship. Rosalie had even harbored a shameful hope during Renesmee's birth that Bella wouldn't survive, leaving Renesmee to be solely Rosalie's and Emmett's daughter. Yet, fate had different plans, and Rosalie remained without a baby.

Suddenly, a loud cry from an infant in a nearby car disrupted her thoughts. Rosalie couldn't hear the sounds of parents or a running car engine, and the freezing weather made her worry. She exited her car and began searching for the source of the crying, only to discover an infant version of yourself inside a locked car. Your parents were absent, and you were clad only in a thin onesie. Through the window, Rosalie detected the odor of an unchanged diaper.

Rosalie knew she should call the hospital to report the situation, but she feared you would end up back with your neglectful parents. Thoughts of Emmett being a great father crossed her mind; he hadn't been overly involved with Renesmee, except for playtime, but you could be different as their own.

With a swift motion, Rosalie broke into the car, thankful that the alarm didn't sound, given the car's poor condition. She rented a hotel room with you tucked away in her jacket before calling Emmett and sharing her surprise. When he arrived, expecting something else entirely, Rosalie had you dressed in a fresh diaper and cozy footie pajamas. You were notably small and slender, even for a human infant.

Emmett asked, "Babe, what is this?" His tone was a mix of confusion and amusement.

"Our baby," Rosalie declared as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, her eyes fixed on you without interruption. "We don't have a baby," Emmett attempted to argue. He typically went along with what Rosalie said, as she was almost always right, but occasionally he voiced his dissent.

Rosalie's gaze shifted to Emmett. He didn't need to read her mind to grasp that she needed you to be theirs. Without further argument, he sat beside her to get a better look at you. "This is definitely one sweet baby," Emmett observed, running a cold finger down your cheek.

Emmett expressed his concern, "Carlisle will be furious. He might make you return the baby." Rosalie acknowledged this and understood she would face objections from Edward, Carlisle, and possibly even Alice and Jasper. However, she couldn't help but feel it was unfair that Edward could have his human and endanger the family, and then having his daughter, whom he barely appreciated, that also put the family at risk.

"We'll deal with that when the time comes. For now, I want us to be a family: a mommy, a daddy, and a sweet little baby," Rosalie's face lit up when she referred to you. Emmett loved to see his wife so joyful, so he indulged her, understanding why she was so enamored with you.

A few months passed, and you were introduced to the Cullen clan. After some persuasion, Carlisle allowed Rosalie to keep you. The presence of a human infant injected new life into the Cullen household. Rosalie and Emmett spent the most time with you and Rosalie became upset if anyone besides Esme tried to hold you. Edward and Jasper's unique abilities helped discern your needs quickly, even though you couldn't communicate them directly. Jasper secretly enjoyed caring for you without interference from your parents and loved the way Alice dressed you like a doll. Edward and Bella, engrossed in their own activities, didn't show much interest in you. Renesmee, on the other hand, enjoyed having you around, as you allowed her to partake in kid activities she had missed out on. Carlisle and Esme were the perfect grandparents, but nothing could compare to your parents. Emmett and Rosalie adored you. Rosalie was extremely protective and insisted on homeschooling, but she always wanted what was best for you in her mind. You were their angel, and they were determined to protect you from harm.

As for Rose and Leah-

Those two aren't exactly "simpatico". In fact, Leah can't stand any of them, so I don't think she'd much care who Rosalie is protective over. So while her/the wolves teaming up with the Cullens is entirely likely to happen at some point, it's not because one side is suddenly invested in the other. Also because, in order for that interest to spark, one side would actually have to be near the other. As in, close enough to realize another human has entered the fray. Which means-

In order for Leah and MC to get close to the point Leah actually cares (like, genuine care that goes beyond her duty to protect humans from vampires), we'll have to get MC with the wolves at some point. As in, a vampire-free, semi-normal, easy-going meet-and-greet where nobody tries to hump, jump, or eat her, thank you very much. I mean, that's literally all girl asks for. 😭
