Some more art studies. I still don't really know where I want to go with this character, and I feel like I've hit a wall with their development. It might be a while before I can give them the story they deserve, so until then, enjoy the random art of them!

Some notes on the art below the cut:

[ Like Feyra, Cyrah is corrupted by darkness. Unlike Feyra, Cyrah has been almost entirely polluted by it, but in a much milder way than Ajal was. Cyrah isn't mentally affected by the darkness itself, only physically. Their mental trauma is moreso related to other factors. ]

- The magic you see on this sheet is something borne from the darkness that melded with Cyrah's light. A beautiful thing, if it weren't so tragic. It basically means Cyrah's soul has become so polluted that the darkness can manifest around them in vapors of light. They can't really control it. It's like smoke, you can move it around by waving your hand, but you can't do much else with it. Except this smoke is also poisonous lol.

- I was trying to figure out their scars, and the majority of their injuries are on their left side. I imagine that they tended to block with their left arm since they're left handed, and it resulted in a lot of injuries to that side. Maybe. Or I just didn't care to draw both sides.

- Cyrah's eyes and core used to be the normal pale golden, but the darkness that poisoned them tainted their blood, eyes, and core blue.

( I will try to video the dimension they're trapped in to provide context to my art studies later this week )

Cyrah- I think it's KAI-ruh, but it's SEE-ruh?? Honestly understandable tho

Edaline- this was so surprising to me, but it's not ed-uh-LINE, it's ED-uh-leen

Gisela??? As jih-SELL-uh???? Like what?? No it's GIH-zel-uh

Idk which name I'm pronouncing wrong but Alden's al is the same noise as ball, while Alvar has the same al as Weird Al

I've KNOWN that this is wrong but I'll always pronounce Bronte with one syllable

Councilor Oralie has been OR-uh-lee this whole time?? I always thought it was or-AL-ee, which imo sounds prettier

RUY IGNIS IS PRONOUCED ROO-ee, I can't...it's just not right. It should be roi

Sophie’s new ability

this is a dark headcanon with some possible haunting factor, you have been warned (just for the record, this isn't something I see as a feasible theory, I wrote it because I loved the idea)

Sophie starts hearing sounds that nobody else around her can, and usually they're strongest when she's alone

they sound like whispers or murmurs coming from every direction, male and female voices mixed with other sounds

first she thinks she's hearing someone's thoughts which she still considers highly unusual

but when she puts energy into creating a mental barrier to block out telepathic thoughts, those voices remain

and they get much stronger when she enters the void while teleporting

in fact, on one occasion she can't take it anymore, the pull is too strong, so she follows the sounds through the void

and comes across everyone she thought the Elvin world has lost: Jolie, Kenric, Cyrah, Brant... and lots more people, all of them thought to be dead

'What's happening?' Sophie asks totally dumbfounded with a sense of dread flooding over her. she is hoping it's just a nightmare but it feels real

'Save us, Sophie' they whisper to her. 'Only you can get us out of here'

'What do you mean?' Sophie is absolutely confused

'You are a Reviver,' one of them tells her. 'You have the ability to bring people back from death.'

Sophie is shocked, she cannot understand how any of this is possible

she wants to find out more so she leaves the void and goes to speak with Mr Forkle

who has no idea how to approach the subject

'I didn't come across anything that indicated this while tweaking your genes,' he says. 'I didn't even know that this ability existed'

they research it and manage to find out more through some very ancient books

'Revivers can contact the dead through the void,’ Mr Forkle tells her. ‘The void is a layer between life and death. But it only serves as a means to find them. They have no memory of anything from when they were still alive.’

'You can find anyone who has left the living. And you can give life back to anyone you choose. But it comes with a price. Anytime you save someone, part of you will be taken by the void. And if you do it too many times, you yourself will become part of the void forever.'

‘So I don’t die, I just... turn into void?’ she asks in a shaky voice and Mr Forkle nods

Sophie is scared to hear this. really scared

'How many people can I bring back without disappearing?' she has to ask

'I don't know,' Mr Forkle admits. 'I think it depends on the person. You have more chances if you're boosted by an Enhancer, is what I’ve read'

Sophie sees the irony of her being an Enhancer, thus not being able to enhance herself. and not knowing anybody else with the ability 

but altogether she is just stunned that she has manifested a new ability. especially this one

'The choice is, of course, up to you, Sophie,' Mr Forkle tells her. 'We both know it would be incredible to bring back some of the people we've lost. We could learn secrets that died with the person, and we can give people back to their families. But I cannot ask you to put your own existence at risk like that... In fact, you are too valuable for us to risk losing you.'

Sophie knows he's right, in some ways. but she also wants to give Jolie back to Edaline and Grady. and Cyrah to Prentice and Wylie

but how is it fair if she brings back one person but not another someone?

what if the Neverseen kills someone she cares about... should she save her chances for emergencies?

and how long would she have before she faded into the void?

she has so many things to consider but they agree on one thing with Mr Forkle: nobody apart from the two of them can know about her new ability in fear that they would take advantage of her
