help i need puzzle ideas for a harvest festival/carnival/fair held in a city of pirates who *strongly* believe in honor among thieves
My players think they have bested me by brute forcing through one of my puzzles. Fools! Now in three months they shall encounter a near identical puzzle that is brute force proof-ed and they must solve my puzzle!
Out of game, my players tell me that they enjoy my puzzles, but as soon as I start to describe anything that seems as if it may be a puzzle in-game, the group immediately dissolves into chaos. Like, as soon as I start describing a door in a little bit too much detail, all of them panic and desperately try to start paying to the details.
So I have a concept for a puzzle that I gotta workshop a little bit. It is set in an old mansion, throughout which there are 4 lockets hidden. These lockets are all needed in order to unlock a hidden chamber. Now I’ve got that concept set and now I just gotta find some way to make it more puzzle-y. Any ideas?
My players oftentimes will turn things that aren’t a puzzle into a puzzle. We haven’t yet had a ‘players are so convinced that they have to solve a puzzle to open the door that they don’t even try opening the door normally’ incident yet, but I think we may be close to that. During today’s session, my players had to go to a location and wait for the moon to fully rise, but they didn’t think at all about waiting and tried a whole variety of shenanigans trying to solve my ‘puzzle’. Still, gotta love ‘em.
Making a puzzle for d&d require some monster tiles. 10 points if you can name them all.
