Everyone is celebrating the new year

Except Avery and Derek

Derek will lean back, and watch the fireworks for the very last time, maybe even feeling a bit of comfort in the unimaginable pain, while Avery has a panic attack, and each firework feels like a bomb going off.

On January 3rd, a wellness check will be sent to Derek’s apartment, he will be found, dead, and no doctor will be able to figure out why.

On January 3rd Avery will try to do the same. A knife from his kitchen will easily do the trick. But he will call an ambulance once he gets lightheaded from blood loss, because all he can think of is what Derek had said. Keep moving forward.

And he couldn’t betray Derek now. Not after everything they’d been through, together.

Two things will come of this,

One, Avery will hear the whispers around the hospital of a man’s mysterious death. One no doctor can figure out, but he’ll know why.

And two, he will forever have a scar on his left wrist, so he may always know which way lead to the worst, but somehow also the best events of his life.

hypethetically, Derek could've just held the laptop and brought it with him to get some food in the kitchen or go to the grocery, like put that laptop in a cart like a baby
