no, levi doesn't yell at his children. he'd never, a stern voice and serious face is enough to get his point across while still respecting them as a human being.
yes, levi wakes up in the middle of the night to make sure his children are alive and sleeping peacefully. he isn't paranoid, he's just a worried father. . .maybe he is paranoid.
no, levi isn't letting any of his daughters have boyfriends until they're at least fifteen. they are just too young to be thinking about love anyway.
yes, levi shed a couple tears during his first-born baby's birth. no, he won't ever admit it out loud.
no, levi isn't good with words but he hopes his children know that he loves them dearly even if he won't verbalize it 24/7.
yes, levi spoils his babies. they want that toy? he can't say no, their pleading eyes are too cute.
"they won't stay little for long." he tells himself.
Warnings: baby mentioned. Dad Levi. No gender specified for reader. All fluff.
The idea of Levi after bathing your toddler and coming out of the bathroom looking like a wet cat. He’s all serious looking while holding a very giggly and smiley 1 year old wrapped in a towel with bunny ears. Like they didn’t just commit the biggest sin ever. Get Levi dirty.
Meanwhile you’re in your bed on your phone laughing because you heard everything. You heard all the baby happy shrieking and Levi sighing very loudly and tell the kid to be still while “I wash your little ass you little brat”.
He’s just standing at the door looking at you like it’s all your fault. As if you communicated with your baby to splash Levi the whole bath time. Levi then gently and playfully throws the kid on your bed and that makes your baby giggle uncontrollably. “Your problem now.” As if he doesn’t stick around while you feed and rock your baby to sleep. Levi loves it all despite his grumbling. You’d think he would take the opportunity to handle some things before bed but no, he stays until that baby is fast asleep and in their crib. Then he cleans up and joins you in bed.
Sometimes when you watched Levi playing gently with your kid and thought about how an hour ago he was fucking you senseless in the guest bedroom while your kid was napping in your bedroom. You had to bite into the spare sheets that smelt like moth balls while Levi fucked you from behind.
You tried your best to keep it down, and Levi had to stop every few seconds to listen if your kid had woken up. He flipped you around, pulled your milk stained t shirt up to reveal your breasts, and pounded you hard to watch your boobs shake. He grabbed one of your boobs and cummed so hard he spasmed and groaned involuntarily.
You were exhausted and high with pleasure after multiple orgasms you were breathing hard through your mouth. It was challenging to make baby #2 when you had a clingy child who followed either one of you like a baby duck.
It caught you by surprise when your kid suddenly asked you after your little adventure in the spare room, "why is mommy always washing the sheets in the evening?" You looked at Levi and your guilty and horified look was mirrored on his face.
"Mommy peed herself while she naps just now," Levi betrayed you.
Captain Levi had never planned to fall in love with you, the pregnant widow of a Survey Corps member.
Your husband wasn’t part of his squad, but he’d seen him fall, just seconds too late from being able to save him. He’d found a letter to you in his pocket and delivered it to you in person; it was the least he could do, he thought. You were gracious and thankful to have this last message from your sweetheart but Levi saw the depth of sadness in your eyes, and something else simmering just below the surface.
“I’m pregnant,” you confess. “Three months.”
“Do you have family to go back to?” he asked.
“I have no one.”
And that’s how Levi found himself visiting your house whenever he came into Trost. It was late fall, so the Corps was on hold from any expeditions, and after he picked up his usual cleaning supplies, he’d find himself picking up some things for you and bringing it by.
“There’s some tea there that is supposed to be good for morning sickness,” he says as he hands you a bag of groceries, “and some of my officer’s rations of red meat. I heard that’s good for a growing baby.”
“You’re too kind, Captain. You don’t have to do all this for me.”
You were right, he didn’t, but he couldn’t help worrying about you, a soon-to-be mother, raising a child on her own.
A month turned into two, then three, your belly growing rounder, your features becoming even softer. There was a glow about you he couldn’t describe, almost angelic.
His monthly visits had become weekly; you would cook him dinner and he’d stay until the fire in the hearth was embers, and your eyelids became heavy.
But this time, as he stood up to leave, you took his arm.
“Captain…could you stay? Just for tonight.”
He knows he shouldn’t. You’re still grieving and probably just lonely. But he can’t deny the pull you have on him. You’re beautiful and kind-hearted, witty and spirited. His thoughts drift toward you so naturally now, wondering how you’re feeling, if you need anything.
If you need him.
And so he follows you to the bedroom and lays on the bed beside you, making sure to stay on his side and give you the space you need. You toss from side to side, finally lying on your back.
“The baby’s too active tonight. I feel like I’m a human punching bag,” you sigh out, then you roll over to look at Levi.
“Do you want to feel it?”
You gently take his hand and place it on your belly. For a while, he feels nothing but the pounding of his own heart, touching you in what feels to him to be so intimate.
But then there’s a little bump under his hand. Then another.
Levi’s experienced many things in his life, but never has anything brought him so much awe than those two little movements.
He spent that night with his hand on your stomach as you drifted to sleep, and decided right then and there that he would do whatever it took to keep you and that little one safe, healthy, and happy.
Pairing: Levi Ackerman X female!Reader
Content Warning: fluff, but there is an implied pregnancy at the end, which is why I've marked it as a female!reader, no beta - straight from my head to tumblr.
Summary: Levi remanences about how the two of you met in college.
A/N: I had an idea, and it seemed to be dominating the brain cells today, so I wrote it out. We got all the fun things in this one: Dadvi, college AU, grumpy sunshine.... I may come back and properly edit things later, but I wanted to post this before I thought too much about it. I hope you enjoy!
Levi didn't know when the switch happened - only that it did.
Coming from a broken home, it was hard imagining ever having a family in the future, yet here you were, making faces and playing with your baby girl on the floor, her giggles filling the air, as her twin haphazardly crawled his direction.
The boy looked up at him, eyes so unique and a mirror to his sister's, and let out a firm, "Dada."
"Yes?"
The little boy stretched out his arm and Levi opened his hand, only to have a wet, plastic ball dropped into it. The boy gave him a wide, toothy grin. Levi just raised an eyebrow, but the corner of his lips tilted upward.
Ten years ago, the two of you met by happenstance at a college party he was forced into. You - a small sun that everyone seemed to orbit around as you made your way through the crowd. Everyone seemed to know you, and you them.
Erwin was the one that introduced the two of you. A friend of his from a psych class that semester. You happily introduced yourself, and when you asked for his name all he gave you was a curt, "Levi."
You had, much to his distaste, continued to get to know him as the night wore on. He started even drinking the watered down shit they were claiming was beer just to make it through so that he could finally leave, but you were still there. Asking questions.
"I'm not here to make friends," he finally growled out at you, hoping you would tuck your tail and leave like everyone else.
You just gave him a toothy grin. "Don't worry - I always win over the grumpies with my sunshine!"
He had absolutely no idea what those words meant, and, once regaining his composure, rolled his eyes and left.
Unfortunately for him, you seemed to be everywhere after that.
Not that you noticed him most of the time, but he sure noticed you. You were always talking with someone - always touching them: a shoulder, an arm, a side hug or a full one. It seemed like everyone wanted to be in your presence, and he was the only one fighting the gravitational pull.
It would be his luck that at the new semester you would end up in his physics course and that the last seat available when you came running in was next to him. And when the teacher announced table partners would be paired up for the remainder of the semester, he groaned.
You, on the other hand, were thrilled. Because of course you were.
To your credit, you didn't push...hard. You did greet him every day, and you did your best to get to know him, but if he turned down your invite for lunch or to study together, you accepted it.
Near midterms he finally gave in, but only because the two of you were required to do a lab after hours that needed much preplanning.
You had invited him over to your apartment, a little place just outside of campus, and, when the study session stretched from the afternoon into the evening, cooked dinner for him.
Seeing you at home, in your (pleasantly clean) place, something changed in him. Maybe you weren't so terribly annoying.
You ended with a B+ on the lab, but an A- for the semester. He actually found himself sad to be heading into finals week for the first time...ever.
So when Hange dragged him to another end-of-semester celebration, he didn't resist, in hopes, secretly, that you would be there, too.
And you were.
And as soon as you spotted him, you found yourself next to him the rest of the evening. Not that he minded this time.
But what surprised him the most was how little you actually talked. More often than not, you listened, and when there was no one around, you talked to him. And he found, surprisingly, that he liked listening to you talk about anything.
When the summer set in, most of your mutual friends went home, but both of you stayed - unknown to each other.
Levi happened to spot you when going through the cafeteria at an odd lunch hour, seeing you hunched over a table, eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
He watched you as he ordered, trying to figure out what class you were taking during the shorter semester.
The sound of the chair across from you scraping across the floor startled you enough that you jumped, eyes wide before they were able to focus on the young man in front of you.
Levi's eyes seemed a lighter gray today, with a hint of mischief making them sparkle. A thin black eyebrow was raised in question, and you quickly recovered with a smile, moving your work to allow him a space to eat.
"Surprised to see you here," he said, meticulously removing the burger and fries from the bag after wiping down the empty table spot.
"Oh - I work at the Student Union, and I try to take a class or two I don't like during the summers."
Your lunch buddy made an affirmative sound, setting up his meal just so in a way that nothing could spill over onto him or the table. You watched as he did so, fascinated by how his hands moved, how well you could see the veins on his hands and forearms.
That was a totally normal thing to notice, right?
You shook your head free from your thoughts when Levi said your name a little sternly. Blinking, you apologized.
"What are you taking?"
"Oh, history," you said, lifting the textbook to show him. "One of my worst subjects." Closing the book with your pen left as a bookmark inside, you rested your cheek on your hand. "And what keeps you over the summer, Levi?"
He swallowed a bite before answering. "I work at the mechanic's shop down the road. Smarter people than me manage to make it a work-study class through the summers so that I can still live on campus."
You nodded as he took another bite. He nodded his head at your journal and messy notes. "I think you just need to learn how to study."
It was a slow blink while you processed what he said to you. The smile on your face flattened just a hair. "And what makes you say that?"
"The fact I saved your ass through most of physics," and then he took another bite of his burger, pulling your notes toward him to read over them.
"You offering to help?"
Levi glanced up at you, and then down at your notebook again. "Not exactly." But when he looked up again, the pitiful wide eyed look on your face made him sigh. "Fine."
You cheered, reaching for a fry. He smacked your hand away. "Get your own fries."
And that was how the two of you ended up having weekly lunch dates through the rest of the summer semester. And sometimes, before a big test, dinner ones as well.
By the end of the summer, the two of you were fast friends, and Levi realized with a start that he enjoyed having you around. It made most things tolerable.
Your study dates continued into the next semester, shifting to match both of your work and class schedules, but more often than not he found himself over in your apartment.
If he was invited to a party, he checked that you were going first. If you were, he would come, but he stuck to your side the entire night, not that you minded. And if you weren't, well, he would just stay home....or come hang out with you at your work - which was typically the reason you would miss out.
There were two moments before the two of you finally started dating that Levi realized he was in trouble.
The first was at a party, he couldn't tell you what it was for, where you had gotten ahold of a stronger drink than normal and were past tipsy but not yet drunk.
Someone had started to flirt with him, and you, clearly bothered by this upon your return from the kitchen, had wrapped your arms around him claiming him as your 'Grumpy' and telling the other person to find their own.
He still didn't know what the fuck that meant, but it had taken him two hours after he brought you home to calm you down and reassure you that he would remain your Grumpy and he would not find another Sunshine.
Once you were fully convinced, you had fallen asleep on him, and Levi realized, with a jolt, that he didn't have the urge to slip away and leave. In fact, being curled up with you felt kind of...nice.
(When he had told Erwin this story later, Erwin had laughed. When pressed, all the blonde said was, "Do you know what her major is?"
"Creative writing."
Blue eyes were filled with mirth. "You're a smart man, Levi. Figure it out."
Levi wasn't sure why he had felt warm all over when later that night he finally Googled the trope and learned what it was.)
The second time was the time you realized something, too, although you never admitted it.
It was a late night that Levi was crossing through campus, headed back to the dorm rooms, when he found you on a bench, watching one of the many water fountains.
He had a double shift at work straight into a night class, and hadn't checked in on you all day - although seeing your red eyes he wished he had. And he found himself overcome with the need to beat the hell out of whatever had the audacity to make you cry.
You had tried to smile through the tears, promising it wasn't a big deal, but when your lip quivered, he knew. Levi dropped his bag to the ground, sat beside you, and pulled you close.
Leaning into him, he nudged his head with yours, and said, "You don't have to be strong all the time, you know. Even the sun hides behind rainclouds some days."
It wasn't something that you would ever expect out of him, but it was clearly what you needed to hear. You couldn't hold back your feelings any more at that point, and cried heavily into his shirt.
Levi held you close the entire time, and walked you home after.
You had invited him to stay with you that night, and, after struggling with it, he finally gave in. It was the second time you found yourself falling asleep in his arms.
Neither of you could exactly pinpoint when you were 'officially' started dating, as life went on as normally as it had for the two of you before that night.
Sure, Levi might have his arm around the back of your chair now when you were sitting together, or once or twice you had taken his hand or arm as the two of you walked somewhere.
But nothing had been said - your routine hadn't changed. And if your friends had noticed something, they chose to remain quiet. (Although many times knowing smiles were shared behind your backs.)
It wasn't until one night, after Levi had spent another afternoon at your place and was leaving for his night class that things changed.
The two of you were saying your goodbyes, and, without a second thought, you had kissed him, and then wished him a speedy three hours.
You hadn't realized what you had done. Sure you'd fantasized about doing it before, but that's all that was. You hadn't actually done it. Had you?
Gray eyes were boring into yours, a hand frozen on the doorknob, as both sets of eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Levi was the first to move, his hand reaching out and wrapping around the side of your neck, tugging you forward as he crashed his lips against yours once more - electricity racing every nerve of your body. There was a fierceness to his kiss; a fervency in it that had you weak at the knees.
It left you panting as you pulled away, and he leaned his forehead against yours. "We're talking about this when I get back." And then he kissed you again, and was out your door before you had caught your breath.
You had been together ever sense.
It had only seemed natural to him to propose after graduation, and you had a quick courthouse ceremony because, for the two of you, there was no need to wait.
The first few years of marriage were ones of enjoying each other - the twins were a surprise when the two of you decided to expand your family.
Fraternal twins, both born with heterochromia - one a gray blue and the other one the same as yours. You had laughed; Levi had been stunned.
But now, looking over his small family on this mundane Monday night, he found himself thankful for that stupid party he was forced to go to all those years ago.
Levi picked up your son from the ground, holding him as he reached over to take the plastic ball back and tried to stuff it in his mouth. His eyes locked with your own, and you raised an eyebrow at him. "What's up, Grumpy?"
A rare smile crossed his face as he shook his head. "Nothing, Sunshine. Nothing at all."

Levi working out but there is a little twist, his little one is strapped to his chest as he does pull-ups, the baby giggles at the movement. "Papa struggling is funny to you huh?" He says as he keeps working out. He could have easily left his baby with someone else but he really didn't want to. Levi gets down to take a short break, sweating from all the exercise and the plus weight from his child. The baby kicks its little feet, smiling at the mirror. "Look that's you and papa."
Little chubby hands reach out to the mirror and Levi walks closer letting the baby touch the glass. His eyes follow the features he shares with his child, the hair, the eyes, cheeks...his little mini-me. Levi's expression goes soft when his baby starts to babble. "Dada! Bo Bo abo!" Even if he had no idea what was said, he still talked to his baby like he perfectly understood. "Yes, you do look like your dada don't you?" Levi kisses the back of the baby's head softly before taking some weights. "Now watch you little rascal, maybe you'll find this next workout even funnier."
Levi startles, looking up. The little girl stood before him, all wide eyes and beaming at him.
“Yes? Shouldn’t you be at school?”
She shrugs, then thrusts out a hair brush and a set of scrunchies. “Do my hair today!” She grins.
Levi is taken aback slightly, not at all expecting such a request. It’s not that he had a bad relationship with his daughter really, if anything Levi spends every second that he can spare with her. But even so, it was so sudden and specific, not to mention she has never asked him to do it before. It was you who helped her get ready.
“Doesn’t mommy usually do that?” He asks slowly. “Is she busy?”
She shakes her head quickly. “I just want you to do it today.” She smiles, holding the brush out to him, waiting for him to take it.
Levi glances at it then looks back up. How could he say no to that?
So, without a word, he motions her to turn around which she follows happily, pulling a stool nearby to sit between Levi’s legs. Levi takes the brush, though slightly hard to hold without his missing fingers, he manages, combing through the black silky strands.
Like his.
Though, his own hair was stranded with gray now, a sign of the long years he had lived. Even Ackermans don’t stay young forever.
But it’s still so strange to him, having her here, right in front of him. He still freezes a little when she smiles at him, watching her with awe. She looked almost exactly identical to him, starting from the shape of her face to the color of her eyes, just the exact shade of the silvery blue that his own eyes hold. But there was a brightness in those eyes that Levi doesn't think he ever had. She was like this little ball of sunshine, always so bright.
And her smile, that came from you.
She was his. Yours. Theirs.
A part of him and a part of you. A whole other human being. A child. A blessing.
It was the hardest at thr beginning. For him to get used to it. Despite the 9 months of pregnancy, it was when he first held her that the realization finally hit him. That she was his daughter. His.
And the moment his eyes locked with the newborn, he knew he was doomed.
That there was nothing he wouldn’t do for this small, small, absolutely tiny person that came to earth no more than half an hour ago. That he had just met.
It was crazy how it only took him only a moment for him to swear his life for her, to become so protective. It was actually ridiculous, how he felt anxious even when it was the nurses holding her, he’d been so rigid, so poised. Even when handing her over to someone else’s arms, he had his hand outstretched because just in case. It took a shit load of convincing from you for him to let Jean and Connie hold her.
It was crazier watching her grow up. Never had he felt this ridiculous amount of pure joy and excitement ever. Only to hear her first words, to watch her take her first steps, holding his hand. He swears it was only yesterday.
His chain of thought was cut off as she started to happily chatter about things. Unlike Levi, she talks. A lot. Levi doesn’t mind, he listens quietly. Every once in a while, inserting a comment.
“I’ve read about you. In the history books. Our teacher taught us.”
“Yeah?” He mumbles, brushing softly. “What’d you learn?”
“They called you humanity’s strongest.” She stumbles on the word a little, which was a bit heavy for her usual vocabulary. She turns around to look at him with awe and wonder, wide eyes asking for confirmation. “That’s so cool!”
He only lets out a small hum in response.
"Will I be as strong as you one day?"
"Sure. You already are." He hopes she never needs to be.
“I saw your picture too. And mommy’s. Also, Uncle Connie used to be bald back then.” She finishes with a giggle, the idea of Connie’s lack of hair amusing her. “You were like a superhero, weren’t you daddy?”
“I wouldn’t shoot that far.” He answers with a small smile.
Back then, Levi had never imagined the idea of having a family. There, caged between the walls, surrounded by those tremendous monsters. When there was no guarantee that you’d come back alive once you’re out there. How could he even think of bringing a child to the world, if he couldn’t even do the least that is to promise their safety?
But now, here she runs and plays outside, without a worry in the world, tirelessly. She doesn’t have to starve like Levi had to, she grows up with only all the good the world has to offer. She doesn’t know the worst of how things could be and Levi hopes she never does. She doesn’t yet understand the role Levi and you had played in creating this world, but she does understand the value of it. She asks questions sometimes, about the wheelchair and the eye and the hand. About your scars and why somedays you can't get yourself from bed. He doesn’t answer. He doesn’t know how to answer. And Levi knows, one day, he’ll have to tell her all of it, life back then and the life he had. But for now, he prays, let her grow up with only love and pureness. Let her see the world in her rose colored glasses. Something he never got to do.
She taps Levi’s leg as he bunches the hair to tie a ponytail. “Do braids.” She says.
“Braids? Don’t you always wear a ponytail?” Levi asks.
“Yes, but,” She tries to explain, stumbling for words. “Tash always pulls by it.”
Tash was one of her classmates, Levi knew from her frustrated rants about him. From what he could gather, neither liked each other much. “Next time he bothers you, you do the thing that I taught you.” He tells her.
“The thing with my hands?” She asked brightly, balling her hands to show him.
“Hey, no beating up kids at school. Levi!” You appear in the doorway, only catching the last bit of the conversation. “Don’t give her ideas. And you,” You look at your daughter who was smiling smugly. “I’ve been looking for you–wait, is Levi doing your hair?” You say, finally noticing and very surprised.
‘Yes!” She replies excitedly, “He’s doing braids! He’s very slow though.”
Levi playfully pats her head. “It’s because you keep moving.” He sighs. “Must you need braids? I’m not sure if I can–”
“Yes.”
Levi was about to say something else until she turned around, giving him the most adorable pout ever, eyes all round and needy, her brows pinched together. “Please?” She asks sweetly.
Well damn.
Levi tries, he really tries. But the word no somehow managed to disappear from his vocabulary, along with all of its synonyms. So he sighs, nodding.
“Levi, I can–” You start.
“It’s okay.” He puts up a hand, stopping you. He doesn’t know much about the process, but he’s spent enough time watching you do her hair. So he thinks he can manage it. “I can do it. Probably.” He says uncertainty.
It was slightly difficult to manage multiple sections of hair when you’re missing two fingers, but even surprising himself, he does manage it, after a few attempts. A little uneven, but works.
"Happy?" He asks her, patting her head.
It was good enough for the girl, who jumped up right after it was finished and cheered happily as an answer to Levi. She jumps to his arms, pulling him by the neck to plant a big smooch in his cheek.
“You're the best.” She beams at him, then running off to grab her bag which was by the door.
“Wow, mommy’s nonexistent now?” You fold your arms in mock offense.
She doesn’t answer, only picks up her bag and runs to hug you full speed, wrapping herself around your knees. “I love you.” She calls out, then turns to Levi. “And I love you too! I'm leaving now!”
Then she was out the door before you could say I love you back.
“Don’t run, you’ll fall.” Levi calls out to her, who was already far out of hearing range.
You closed the door. Then leaned against it, staring at Levi.
Levi looked away, cheeks heating up slightly, noticing the strange way you were staring at him, already knowing what comes after.
“So.” You said.
“So, what?” He said, glancing at you.
“Where'd you learn how to do braids?"
He huffs. "From you. I watched you do it.''
"Really?' It was so cute you could melt.
“Stop looking at me like that.” He grunts. “She’s my girl. I can do her hair sometimes, it’s not that big of a deal.”
“So, I’m not your girl?” You pout, exactly the same expression your daughter made just moments ago. “How come I don't I get braids?”
“I–” Levi starts, then huffing frustratedly. He can’t even say no to his daughter, who was he to say no to the mother? He tries nevertheless.
“I’m not doing it. Stop looking at me like that.”
You did not look away, pouting out your lips more.
