In honor of Asena's OC Vibes Day... this has been sitting in my drafts for over a year now.

Asena : <demandingly> "Tell me you don't care."

Solas : "I can't do that."

Asena : "Tell me I was some casual dalliance so I can call you a cold-hearted son of a bitch and move on."

Solas : <broken> "... I'm sorry."

Asena is begging him to tell her he doesn't care because anger is easier to shoulder than heartbreak.

Solas cannot. He loves her, and at no point does his love for Lavellan falter. It holds, deepens, and grows.

He's heartbroken, but so deeply in love. Guilt and longing weigh heavily.

He has convinced himself that this is for the best. A split-second decision that he made as truth clung to lips desperate for escape.

Tell her. She must know. She will accept. She will understand.

No. She deserves better. More. She deserves everything. She deserves all. I... cannot.

She is devastated, hiding behind her indignation and anger.

Duty will make it easier to hide, to shove down into the dark recesses of her heart until she can replay every touch and memory alone.

She will damn him until her anger dissipates, leaving forgiveness and understanding in its stead. The jagged edges of pain will burn so hot that the anger will transform into something smoother, steadier, but no less passionate and intense: a love which does not idealize, but accepts fully.

She will realize she knows this man's heart, as he does hers. That his attempts to push her away were misguided but well-meant. She knows what she wants. She knows he is a good man. She will help him see.

Asena fights tooth and nail to stand on her own. Make her own decisions. Finally.

Different vibes for sure. A chipper and tipsy Solas is so damned cute. Like... gimmie five minutes alone and I'll have this man on his knees. Or vice versa.

Asena Lavellan : Are you sure that your memory aid caught all of the elven gods?"

Professor Bram Kenric : "There's only one F for Falon'Din. Oh, I suppose I forgot Fen'Harel..."

Solas : "Most people do." <retort so dry it may as well have been wine.>

Because of course both of these men would say "Indomitable".

Emmrich : "...and your spirit does charm, but... there's also something quite indomitable about you, Rook. It inspires."

Solas: "In truth I have enjoyed experiencing more of life to find more of the Fade.

Asena : "How so?"

Solas : "You train your will to control magic and withstand possession. Your indomitable focus is an enjoyable side benefit. You have chosen a path whose steps you do not dislike because it leads to a destination you enjoy. As have I."

Asena: "Indomitable focus?"

Solas : "Presumably. I have yet to see it dominated. I imagine that the sight would be... fascinating."

Asena : <come hither chuckle>
