Roy closed his eyes, focusing on slow, silent breaths.
The bow in his hand was achingly familiar under his gloves. He could tell by the weight of the quiver on his back exactly how many arrows he had remaining. He could sense the location of every weapon on his body: the throwing knives in his boots and gauntlets. The replacement bow strings wound around his left forearm that doubled as makeshift tripwires or garottes. The slight weight to the tip of his recurve bow where a spiked blade was hidden. The one Ollie didn’t know about, because he’d banned him from close-quarters combat the first time he’d spotted his incisors.

Everyone looked up, even Lex, as Bruce entered the kitchen. There was a weightiness that followed Pack Alphas and Omegas, pulling attention toward them like their own kind of gravity. In the doorway of the kitchen, Bruce was carrying instinct like Jason hadn’t seen since Joker. His eyes were dark, his chin was down, and he was radiating enough possessiveness to power a small planet.
The update from Lex’s attorneys clearly hadn’t been good news. Not if Bruce was in full Pack Omega mode this early in the morning. Not if Lex was still smelling, ever so faintly, of fear.
no thoughts just CRU-posting about Lex sitting in Dan’s lap ~6 months into his pregnancy and making an attempt to steal the cigarette Dan is trying so hard to smoke over the balcony and not in Lex’s face (he would not give him 5 minutes alone for a cigarette) and gets caught by the wrist instantly without Dan even looking up. and then Lex begins to wind up for his “I should have a cigarette yes even if I’m pregnant” speech neither of them actually believe because what he really wants is a kiss (Dan knows this too) (he’s not getting one until Dan can wash his mouth out and brush his teeth)
Seeing the alpha perspective of your omegaverse is so interesting, even though it’s markedly clear Roy is something of a misnomer for typical alpha behaviours/instincts, it’s a really intriguing breadth of perspective from the previous instalments!
Even though there likely isn’t a direct pecking order of “most” to “least” alpha, would it be accurate his situation is likely more similar to Dans? I’m curious to know if we will see interactions between them founded on this kind of joint mindset, and potentially Dan filling the role for what Ollie should have been teaching Roy (like knows like and similar?)
Kind of giggling at the idea of the pack having the equivalent of two leashed attack dogs just waiting for the word “go”
Definitely accurate! I don’t love doing a hard and fast pecking order either, but I’d rank it as Clark being the objectively strongest alpha (physically + when being commanding) but the least likely to be overtly “alpha” unless a situation arises. Which is why he makes such a good mate for Bruce.
Dan and Roy would be day to day more instinct driven and more overtly alpha. Dan is a little rough around the edges, but can handle almost any situation. He’s learned enough over the years to find balance with his own instincts and embrace them instead of shunting them to the side when they’re too much. He doesn’t quite fit in the glitterati world Lex grew up in and that’s a good thing to Lex.
Roy has a LOT to learn from Dan. I would say he is probably stronger than Dan overall, but is no competition for Dan’s control and full embracing of himself. Roy views his instincts as a chain jerking him around, while Dan simply lets them guide him. They’re both highly intense people to be around and would typically butt heads if Roy, deep down, wasn’t still desperately trying to find an alpha who wouldn’t reject him simply for being strong(er). And Dan is the last person who’d ever judge Roy for that or dismiss him.
So yes, I think we’ll be seeing a ton of alpha bonding. Just like Lex and Bruce taught Jason, Dan and Clark are going to help Roy. Because in my mind, the stronger you are as an alpha, the more control you have to have by necessity - either you crash out and burn out quickly, like Jason’s stint as an alpha, or you slowly learn how to weave it into your life. Roy is an anomaly because he’s managed to mostly keep a lid on it while suppressing his instincts, but it’s not a permanent fix and they all know that.
me: lol yeah Lex is growing on the Pack
the pack .02 seconds after Lex sounds stressed:
not to DanLex post so early in the evening but imagine the first time Dan says “you’re really good with the pup” and Lex’s brain short circuits because he is NOT good with pups, he’s damaged and sharp and acidic on a good day and the only thing he can give to Jason is the knowledge to survive as an omega. and then it spirals because he’s pregnant and about to have a pup himself and Dan keeps insisting on complimenting him, smelling truthful every time. “You’re really good with the pup” gives Lex a minor mental breakdown on the bathroom floor. he killed his father and locked himself away in LexCorp and fucked up trying to pack-bond Superman and now all of a sudden he’s pack to Bruce Wayne who peels him off the bathroom floor and tells him Dan is pacing downstairs because he thinks he said something wrong, and all Lex can do is laugh. laugh, until he’s crying real tears into Bruce’s neck.
Dan after alpha commanding Lex: Holy shit, I'm so dead. He's going to rip my throat out again. He's never going to speak to me.
Lex: ...hm.
Bruce + Clark knowing this is a lead up to "where on your palm is my little line" 2.0: ...🙄😒
Alfred: please keep the foreplay out of the kitchen, would you
Dan who thought he was about to be kicked out of the kitchen and the pack: ….what?
