5/4/24 ~ Dark Opal Basil update. Never grown this type before. It’s super pretty!
May 30, 2023
Hey! It's been a while since the last garden update. I'll probably do something a little more comprehensive later, but for now, I'm very excited about the batch of heirloom basils I just got seeds for. There's two more varieties that I haven't planted yet, we'll have to see what grows.
I'm especially excited about the holy basil, I've never had that before, and it's a different species than the rest. Very exciting possibilities there.

My tiny dark opal basil 🖤 It wasn’t growing well in the grow closet so lets see if a little sunshine will help
herb update!!
Keeping herbs fresh on the table
Last month. Snipping dark opal basil. I’ve been using it as garnish for pasta, pesto sauce, and lemonade. It’s crazy how much growth has happened since this documentation. All of my basil bushes are taller and my new basil I planted have sprouted (cinnamon and Siam), my calendula has grown taller and bloomed, my carrots grew taller and I think they’re ready to harvest. My okra plant is taller…my wildflower grew so much taller and are beginning to show signs of wanting to flower. All of my tomatoes came back on three out of four of the bushes. I have made lemon balm tea and Jo made a lemon balm basil sorbet. Yesterday evening I used some of the cilantro I grew on a chicken wrap. I cannot wait until all of my perennial flowers truly take off next summer.
