Movie Review 29 - 01/27/17
Under Seige 2 - Dark Territory
Hi, this is Richard’s Reviews.
Todays review is Under Seige 2, Dark Territory with Steven Segal. This sequal has Segal returning as Ryback ex-seal team. This time it is on a train that is hijacked. His daughter is on the train played by a very young Kathryn Heigl. The story is very much off the wall and dated. They takes the train and they use it to hijack a satellite to do their bidding. The satellite having destructive capabilities by wireless. The technology to take this satelate is on a CD. Ryback must take the train back before it runs its course head on against an oncoming freight train. Most of Segals action is usually close quarters combat with some gun or knife toting action. This does not deviate. The first one and this one definitely have the same feel, and work at some level. It's an action movie.
The cover of the blu ray shows Segal hanging on to the train with one hand and holding a pistol in the other. Nothing special on the inside. The back is no different with basic information.
Segal is still in pretty good shape for this movie. I believe his followup movies turn environmental extremist. I really stopped following him after this movie. I know his first couple of movies were really violent, and some what gratuitous for R rated. He definitely had some one liners following this movie, but he faded after that. The idea of a train being a hard to find is funny, since it's on tracks and can't just disappear.
Rating - 3 Stars out of 5
Compared to his other movies, Under Seige 2 and even 1 were somewhat good. I know people poke fun at Segal, but he is entertaining. Action stars aren't shakesperian actors. If they can hit the mark, and make things look good, then deliver the one liner its partly a hit. This movie has its moments, and a rental it should be.
