I’ll totally be making more actual stories with a lot of deaf Bakugo stuff
You start the day, waking up to your alarm clock. You always had it set to wake you up so you could wake up Katsuki since he can't hear it but likes to go on morning runs
It's your job to wake him up
He has his head tucked into your neck, with his arm around your waist, holding you tight. You bring your hand up, lightly dragging it up and down on his arm. He's gotten extra sensitive in his sleep. He still sleeps like a rock, but if you touch him or move, he'll know
You feel him stir, starting to wake up. You tilt your head back, watching as he opens his red eyes. He starts nuzzling his head in your neck for a second before turning over and starting to get up
He goes into the bathroom, then comes out, going to the closet, grabbing sweatpants and a hoodie, then comes over to you, kissing you and saying, "I'll be back." He usually doesn't go out with his hearing aids in. You wish he would, but he refuses
He's usually out for about an hour before coming back and hopping in the shower. About now is the time you'll get up, maybe watching tv or making food
Katsuki waits as long as possible to put his hearing aids in, doing it only to mess with you
He roams around, doing things while you do whatever you're doing. He knows you know he can't hear you, therefore making you have to do extra to get his attention
When you finally do get his attention, and he's had his fun, he'll put them in
They help so he can hear louder noises that are closer to him. If he's in another room, he will only hear it if the noise is super loud
You guys have a "code" type thing. You will bang on the wall, alerting him you need something. Or to come to eat
Villains tend to target him more since they think he's at a disadvantage, which they're very wrong. But if something were to happen, like them breaking in the house. He knows if you bang the wall only 2 times, somethings wrong
He loves when you remove his hearing aids and give a gentle kiss right near his ears. He doesn't mind reading your lips instead of having them in
If something ever did happen, and he didn't know cause he didn't know them in, he wouldn't take them out for a while. He would sleep with them every night until there's no choice but to make him take them out
If he has patrol or is at the agency and had a long day, when he comes home, the first thing he does is take them out if they're not already out when he was in the car, finds you, making you cuddle for the rest of the night
He also has glasses that he'll wear at night or when watching tv. He's always so cute. If he's not paying attention or something when you finally get his attention, and he looks at you, you love it. You love your angry deaf pomeranian with glasses
You guys did learn sign language. So on the days you're out and about, or he doesn't feel like having the aids. That's how you communicate
You always love it when he uses sign language. It just seems so adorable
I’m working in developing a script in which the two main characters (a father and his daughter) are both deaf. There’s a scene I’m planning where the father argues with his daughter about her going to speech therapy. He feels that it would have helped him growing up and wants her to have every possible advantage in life to succeed. Now I don’t want this to imply that deaf people need to change for the world, or that speech therapy is by any means a good and necessary thing (1/2)
(2/2) I also want the daughter to be against it (and win the argument). Having her own idea about the world and knowing that she doesn’t need to change anything, that her life is her own and she hasn’t spoken in her life yet and she doesn’t want to start now. But I’m hearing and idk if this would be offensive or insensitive at all. (Or if written well maybe it wouldn’t be) I have an alternate idea that’s a similar fight but I wanted an opinion on this.
Generation Differences in Minority Communities
This is a fantastic ask, and you’ve hit a very prominent nail on the head. In communities that have been othered and oppressed for years, it can be hard for older people to adjust to the new way of life. My uncle still doesn’t like Pride because he can’t get over the internalised homophobia from all the stuff he went through, and my “fuck ‘em” approach makes him nervous. I personally would love to see a story like this carried over to the d/Deaf community.
In writing an arc like this, be it for play, screen or book, it’s really important that you share the opinions equally between both parties and remain as impartial as you can be. I know how annoying it is to hear your older relatives yapping on about “in their day”, but when it comes to sensitivity and minority issues the situation is a lot more complex.
As in the example of the generation difference between myself and my uncle, being angry at him for his hesitation would be a shitty thing to do. As a young queer person living in the UK in the 21st century, I have protections that he could never have hoped to have. In the case of your characters, the father would have gone through experiences that the daughter couldn’t understand. The world today is a far cry from perfect, but it’s still one hell of a lot better for people living with disabilities than it was ten years ago - let alone sixty! The element that should be shown as wrong is the unwillingness to listen to what the daughter wants. The mental trauma that the dad would have gone through is a reason - a fact - but doesn’t mean he has any right to force his daughter’s decisions.
As for you being a hearing author writing this, I think that you’ll be fine. I know I always say that specific stories shouldn’t be told unless you’ve gone through them yourself, but parents trying to live vicariously through their children is so, so common. It’s a broad enough issue that it doesn’t really belong to anyone in particular, and so long as you show each side of the argument in sensitive balance you’ll be fine to write it.
The key takeaway is: focus on the issue as being generational differences, rather than Deafness and language. In your scene, Deafness and language is just a catalyst that sets off the issue, and hopefully, your audience will have experienced the “You should do [X] because I didn’t have it growing up and want the best for your” schpiel from their parents enough to understand.
Thanks for the ask! Have fun with your writing - I would really love to see something like this myself x

Summery: Bakugo was strong. Strong enough he feels he can fight without his hearing aids. While he is a great hero, sometimes not having hearing still causes problems

You run through the street, helping civilians and get them to the safe zone. Once your area is clear, you run to help Dynamight and Shoto with the villain. The villain's quirk was Multiple Paralyzation. He could clone himself, and if you touch the clone or the clone touch you, you get temporarily paralyzed, considering how much the cone wants to keep you down.
Dynamight and Shoto were fighting the villain for a while. They were struggling to tell the difference between him and his clones. Dynamight blasted into the air, waiting to jump down on the villain. From where you stood, you saw what looked like to be the regular guy, but from behind a corner, out of sight of Shoto and Dynamight, you saw the real guy. You looked back at Dynamight just as he landed behind the clone. You ran toward him, "Dynamight! Katsuki! Katsuki, WAIT!" You were almost there, but it was too late.
The clone grabbed him by his face, the clone's hand wrapped around Katsuki's mouth, and his body immediately went limp, and his face looked horrified, scared. You weren't even that far away, but you knew Katsuki never went to a battle with his hearing aids in. You always told him to, but he says the excuse that they could get damaged, and he didn't want to keep buying new ones. He would usually do a good job paying attention, but then there were times like these. There was nothing he could do.
You use your quirk to catch the clone off guard and blast it out of the way. You quickly run to Bakugo, crouching next to him. "Hey. Hey Katsuki, it's ok. I'm right here. It's ok." You say, moving his body so he can see you. "I- I can't move." He says, slurring his words, sounding more scared than mad. "I know, I know. Can you hear me? Try to stay calm, ok?" You say, holding his head, stroking your hand on his cheek. "N-no, no. I can't- s'quiet, c-can't." You could barely understand what he said. He was internally freaking out, looking more scared than you've ever seen him. You nod and sigh. You would try to sign to him, but you don't want to move your hands away from him.
Shoto finished off the villain, and help gets sent for Katsuki. They load his limp body onto a gurney and start rolling him away. You follow behind them, knowing if you go out of his sight, it'll be problems for all the doctors. When you get to the hospital, Recovery Girl checks him, seeing if she can do anything. You stay with him the whole time, signing for him what they say since his hearing aids are still in his car. "Recovery Girl said she can't do anything about what the quirk did. She doesn't know how long this will last." You sign to him. He tries to say something, but his mouth doesn't move. "Shh, don't try to talk. From everywhere he touched you are paralyzed. It won't work. The only reason you could before was since your adrenalin was high." You sign.
Katsuki sits there, eyes not leaving you. He can only move half his face, and through his eyes, you can see how scared he is. You step close to him, running your hand through his hair lightly, trying to calm him. You lean up, kissing his forehead, knowing that's one of the few places he can feel right now. You sit on the edge of his bed, pulling his head on your shoulder and rubbing it.
Later, the doctors come and say you can take him home, as long as you take care of him properly. You agree and get ready for him to go home. When you're home, you settle him in the bed, helping him undress from his hero suit. You don't leave his sight at all, but any time you try, he makes some weird noise, like a pleading whine, it's so sad, and you can't think to leave him.
There's a knock at your door, and you already know it's Shoto, so you pick up your phone and text him, saying the door is open. In no time, you hear him come in the door, and then he appears at your bedroom door. "Thank you, Shoto. For getting his car, and the aids." You say and sign at the same time. "No problem." He says. "How's he doing?" Shot asks, motioning to Bakugo. "Ok, I guess. These will help a lot though, thanks again." You say, signing and talking again. You glance at Katsuki, his usual scowl planted over his face, probably since Shoto was there. Shoto nods and says his goodbyes, leaving.
You walk over to Katsuki, securing his hearing aids in and looking at him. "Is this better? Blink if you can hear me." You say. He blinks, letting out a slow sigh. "You should be able to talk soon. It should be wearing off. I know this probably feels so weird." You say, stroking his hair. His eyes shift over to you, a tear slowly falling down his cheek. "Hey, hey, baby, what's wrong? Does something hurt? Blink once if yes." You say concerned. He blinks twice. "Are you... scared?" You ask. He blinks once.
Katsuki was scared. You've been with him long enough that you've seen a lot of things others haven't. You've never seen him cry once before, and him being scared was new too. "Aww, Katsu." You climb into the bed, pulling his body with you, cuddling him into you, rubbing his head, everywhere he can feel right now. You kiss his forehead, saying, "It'll be better soon, don't worry." You still feel tears coming out of his eyes, and eventually, he falls asleep.
"Y/n."
"Y/n."
"Y- Y/n."
You wake up to hearing your name. "Hm? Katsuki? What? Are you ok? What's wrong?" You ask, waking up more and shifting to look at him. "I just, um, sorry, this feels weird. I feel so useless." He says, his words still coming out a little weird. "It's ok. It could have happened to anyone."
"No. Anyone else would have heard the calls. But not me, I couldn't hear them, and now I'm a vegetable."
"It's not permanent. Just cause this happened doesn't mean you aren't an important hero, I promise."
"It felt terrible. I couldn't move. I couldn't hear. I hate that feeling."
"I know, I know. It'll be over soon. I'm so sorry."
"Thank you for sticking with me."
"Of course, I'll always be here. Just relax. I'm right here. Nothing will happen. Just relax and sleep."
He does a long sigh, closing his eyes, falling asleep.
hi! i loooveee your writing, there is NOT enough deaf bakugo x reader content as good as yours on this sight (and by not enough i mean not any!)
anyway if its not too much trouble could you do a story where bakugo gets injured or something and he has no go to the hospital but he's not wearing aids and its all a mess. idk maybe hes afraid or drowsy and the nurses are rlly bitchy and they keep talking to him when his eyes are closed or when he's looking away (definitely not based on a true story) or everyone's wearing a mask so he can't understand and basically reader has to help him out and interpret and yell at medical staff and idk but there's soemthing about allowing yourself to be vulnerable while the person you defends you that brings you closer
hope that makes some kind of sense
Omgggg thank youuuu!! I agree there’s not enough deaf Bakugo content and I loveeeee reading and writing about it
Totally didn’t jump at writing this and ignoring my other fic I need to finish. Why would you think something like that?

You finally convinced Bakugo to go on a trip with you. You guys found a week and went away to London, just you two. You had been dating for a while, so it was almost like a pre-honeymoon. Mostly, you stayed in the hotel, having the time of your life. You shift, tightening your grip on Katsuki as you wake up. "Morning." You say, sleepily. "I was thinking about getting up at going to get some lunch and bring it back," Katsuki says, stroking your hair. You smile and nod, tilting your head up and giving him a quick kiss on his jaw before turning over, letting him get up.
He gets up, making his way to his suitcase and grabbing some sweatpants and a hoodie, slipping them on and turning to you one last time before walking to the door. "You don't want your hearing aids?" You sign across the room when he looks back. "No. It's fine. I'll be back soon." He says before turning and leaving. You lay back down, picking up the tv remote and turning on the tv to pass the time.
Bakugo leaves the hotel, strolling through the streets and taking in the scenery. He would never be able to walk like this at home since everyone knows him. But here, he can be just like a regular person. The streets were still quiet since it was early. He memorized the direction to the restaurant he wanted to get the food from, and he cut through a road that would make the walk shorter. As he was walking, his guard was down, so he didn't sense the people walking behind him as they got closer, closer, closer. Soon, right behind him, and that's when he felt his sense kick in, making him turn around.
The second he turned around, he met a mean left hook into his jaw, causing him to stumble back. In any other circumstances, he would have immediately started fighting back, but he was nowhere near expecting it, and it was so much happening at once. He was strong, but he was no match for the group that jumped him. Punches and kicks land all over his body. They ripped his clothes and stole the money he had in his pocket, and thankfully after the first punch, his phone had flown out of his hand, hitting a wall and not being noticed. After they left, Katsuki lay there for a second before forcing himself up and limping to his phone. He grabbed it, attempting to walk back into the street and call you, but before he could tap your name, his body shut down, and he collapsed in the street.
When he woke up, he was in a hospital, on a gurney, and Katsuki being the person he is, wasn't cooperative. He continued to struggle more and more against them, and he couldn't hear them telling him to stop, telling him to calm down. All he knew was that he was trying to move, trying to get away, trying to find you, and he couldn't. They injected him with a sedative, forcing him to calm down enough for them to restrain him, tieing his wrist to the hospital bed.
When he came to, his head was pulsing, and his vision was still slightly blurry. He turned his head, seeing a doctor, her mouth moving. He tried to open his mouth and say that he couldn’t hear her, that he was deaf, but his throat felt like it was on fire. Like if he tried to talk, his throat would split in half. He looked at the doctor, being able to make out, "Don't try to talk-" before she turned her head again, and he couldn't see her lips. He tried to move his hands but realized they were tied down. He had no way to communicate.
Other doctors entered the room, but they all had masks on, and he couldn't see what they were saying. Both him and you only spoke a little English. He couldn't understand all the terms the other doctor was saying. Eventually, they figured out that he must not understand English and got him a Japanese interpreter, a speaking Japanese interpreter. He struggled more against the restraints, trying to find some way for them to understand. They all kept talking, moving around, and he couldn't keep up It was like torture.
Eventually, they left, and he sat in silence. His body felt heavy and sore. He barely could move. He didn't know what was wrong with him. Why he couldn't talk, if any real damage got done, he knew absolutely nothing about if he was going to be ok. He couldn't get to his phone, so he wasn't sure if you knew where he was. He knew you'd be so worried that he wasn't back yet. He didn't know if they had contacted you or had a way to contact you. He knew nothing.
You were back at the hotel, asleep. You woke up to your phone ringing but didn't register it right away. You figured you had only fallen asleep for a few minutes, but when you looked at the time, seeing it had been two and a half hours since Katsuki left, you quickly picked up your phone, hoping git was him.
"Hello?"
"Hi. Is this Y/n L/n?"
"Yes."
"You are the emergency contact for Katsuki Bakugo. Are you available?"
"Oh god. What happened? What did he do?"
"Are you aware he's in London? He got into an accident. He's in the hospital."
"WHAT? Yes, I'm here with him. Is he ok? Did they get him an interpreter?"
"Yes. I'm the interpreter but-"
"No. No, a Japanese Sign Language Interpreter. He's deaf. He's not wearing his hearing aids. Did they get him an interpreter?"
"Well, no. That's why I called I-"
You didn't hear the rest of what the person said. You jumped up, running to put clothes on and leave out the door. You got the address of the hospital and raced there as fast as you could. When you got there, you speed-walked through the halls, yelling in the few English words you knew to tell them to take you to Katsuki. Finally, the person you're guessing you talked to over the phone found you, leading you to his room.
You walk into the room, your facial expression immediately changing from the anger it had to worry for Katsuki. His head turned, looking out the window on the side of his bed. You rushed to his side, going to his field vision, so he knew you were there. "Hey, hey. I'm here." His eye's lightened up when he saw you. You knew Katsuki, you could tell how glad he was to see you, but he didn't say anything. "You can't talk?" You signed. He shook his head lightly. He went to move his arm against the restraints again, letting out a quiet whine. You brought your attention to his arms, seeing the ties holding his hands down. Suddenly, the anger you originally had was back.
Your head snaps in the direction of where you came in, seeing the interpreter and doctors standing there. "Why are his hands tied down?" You sign and say, wanting to make sure Katsuki knows what's going on, knowing he hadn't. "Well, he was resisting the care. We needed-" Katsuki watched your hands, signing to him what the doctor said. You cut the doctor off. "Resisting? Yeah, maybe because he was in pain and didn't know what was going on! Are you people that stupid? You couldn't see that he was not responding, and maybe something ELSE wrong?! He's been sitting here not able to communicate with anyone because you fools tied him down! Take them off!" Your hands were moving almost as fast as your words, yelling at them with pure fury.
Katsuki sat watching, internally smiling, watching you go off on them for him. "It was a misunderstanding we weren't aware-" The doctor started. "TAKE THEM OFF!" You yell and sign. The doctor nods quickly, sending one of the other doctors to unlock his hands. "Better?" You sign. "Yes. Thank you." He signs. You lean in, kissing his lips and then his forehead. "I'm going to talk to them. I'll try to get you out of here as soon as possible." You sign. He nods, and you walk over to the doctors, arms folded, anger level dangerously high.
They explained he had broken ribs and a fractured leg. Apparently, he got kicked in the throat a few times, causing his inability to speak. They said his ribs and leg should heal in about six weeks. If he doesn't talk, letting his throat rest, he should have the ability to speak again in around two weeks. You ask when he can leave, and they say they want to keep him a few days, but you're not having it, you insist on them letting him check out, and they eventually give up trying to fight you on it, saying that if you agree to keep him in bed and resting, then he can go. You go back to Katsuki, telling him what they told you. He's happy he doesn't have to stay and even happier that you're there with him. "Thank you, Y/n." He signs. You smile, gently pulling him into a hug.
Once you get him out of the hospital, back to the hotel, you get him comfortable in the bed. You try to help him put his hearing aids in, but he says no, saying that it's ok to only sign for now, that he rather do that. You say ok and settle in next to him. You talk briefly about when you go back home, agreeing to see Recovery Girl, seeing if she can do any more than the other doctors did, and also agreeing that if he has trouble trying to speak again, that you'll help him. You attempted to get him to say yes to seeing a speech therapist instead, but he refused and insisted that he rather just have your help, you acting as his personal speech therapist.
"I'm really sorry, Katsuki. I know being there was terrible. I'm sorry I wasn't with you." You finally sign after a few minutes. He shakes his head and shrugs, signing, "It's ok. Those doctors were some douchebags, but you were there when it counted." You smile. He opens his arms, and you scoot closer to him, leaning his slowly and carefully, knowing he's still in pain. You both lay in bed, the dim light of the moon, and the tv, with subtitles on, being the only thing lighting your hotel room as you sit in comfortable silence.
Also I have brain rot so like imagine….. deaf bakugou who’s kinda insecure and shy about signing bc he wants to impress his s/o early in their relationship so he doesn’t tell them to sign and tries really hard to lipread them just so they won’t feel like he’s ‘different’ or inconveniencing them (even tho they wouldn’t of course) and idk but just bakugou with all the angst and fluff trying so hard to understand but missing every question in the conversation until he just finally has to talk to his s.o
I love that so much. I feel like at first he wouldn't sign a lot and wouldn't talk about it and s/o is like "You sure you don't want me to sign??" and he always says no. In conversations, he'll miss the whole convo or he'll not hear when s/o asks him things and you keep asking him if he wants you to sign and but he keeps saying no. Eventually something happens and you force him to sit down and explain why. After he does you tell him it's ok and you rather sign for him so he can know what's going on and is comfortable. After that he's always signing and you always sign to him and all around helps a lot.
Hey! I love your work sooo much and this is not meant to be mean or criticise at all but I noticed in some of your deaf bakugou stuff that they seem to speak more than sign and he reads her lips the majority of the time. As a deaf person, I think there’s a misconception about lip reading. Aka… it’s friggin impossible. Most deaf people can barely do it, it’s super vague, super slow and idk but I just don’t think that ANY deaf person (including myself) would willingly choose to speak and lipread at ALL with their s/o if they could sign instead. It’s like choosing to speak your second language instead of you native language. It’s much more realistic to have bakugo and the reader sign all the time instead of only when bakugous hearing aids are out. Anyway that’s all, please don’t take this as being like angry or anything I’m really a big fan :)
Understood. In my headcoanons I thought more of him able to hear at least a little when he does have them in so that’s why I had it as them only talking more when he had them in. But I totally get what are saying and I’ll probably have it more of them signing all the time
