Nyle DiMarco was born May 8, 1989 in Queens, New York. The 35-year-old model, actor and Deaf activist is best known for winning cycle 22 of the reality modeling competition television series America's Next Top Model and season 22 of the reality dancing competition television series Dancing with the Stars. In addition to modeling, Nyle has acted in Switched at Birth, Difficult People, Station 19 and Queer as Folk. He executive produced the Netflix original reality series Deaf U and the Netflix short documentary film Audible. He has appeared in the music videos for Alex Newell's "Basically Over You (B.O.Y.)", Dan + Shay's "Tequila" and Kelly Clarkson's "I Date You (ASL Version)". Nyle is 6 feet and 2 inches tall.

TV Shows Recs: Characters Who Use Sign Language Edition (Bonus If They're Queer)

I will update this post as titles and characters comes to my mind and with your suggestions:

The Society (Netflix): a queer and Deaf character played by a Deaf actor. Unfortunately the show has been canceled after the first season :(

Switched at Birth (ABC): has multiple deaf and hard-of-hearing series regulars and scenes shot entirely in ASL.

Deaf U (Netflix): reality show about Gallaudet students and their relationships with their deafness and with each other.

This Close: dramedy series written by and starring deaf creators Shoshanna Stern and Josh Feldman
