I reread In Other Lands by @sarahreesbrennan and then I may have tripped face first back into Demon's Lexicon. And now here I am with what my mom described as "what a cute picture wait why does that child have a knife"
Rereading Demon's Lexicon
"'[Ravens are] very intelligent, actually,' Alan told him as if he was under the impression Nick cared at all. [...] 'If you catch them young, you can teach them to talk.'
'I don't see what the big deal about that is,' Nick said. 'I can talk.'
Alan pushed him gently. [...] 'Well, I caught you young too. Anyway, I think a raven might've been easier—'"
Oh my god
why did I collect this set of quotes from “The Demon’s Lexcon“ 7.5 years ago. was it for “pain”
Alan offered to give up his own room to them, but Nick insisted that they take his instead. He wanted Alan to keep the bookcase.
Alan looked from Nick to Jamie’s alarmed face and seemed a little sad, just like he had when they were young and teachers had told him that Nick didn’t play well with others.
“I don’t — I don’t know what I did wrong. It bothers you, it doesn’t bother me; I thought I could do it and you’d be — I thought you’d be happy.
“Why not? More useful to you than Olivia, am I?”
As far back as I can think in a straight line, from that point of my life to this, there’s you, and wanting to take care of you. That’s what I remember.
So sorry you're on bedrest, that sounds not fun. I hope it's related to a maybe baby? I started following you because of something Supernatural, but I can't remember what. But I'm glad I did! So, my asks are: • What's your favorite place you've ever been? • Is there anywhere you would love to go? Or is travel not your thing? • Do you have a favorite book and/or author? • Are there any movies you can watch over and over?
Yes, it is related to Maybe Baby, thanks! Hopefully this attempt will lead to Mission Success.
I have a feeling most of my followers are mutual SPN fans, but I always wonder what actually made them click follow!
My favorite place is a hard one to answer, so I will cheat and say 3 places: Builth Wells in Wales, London, and Florence in Italy. As for places I want to go, there are so many! I really want to get to Germany and Japan. I want to see Berlin and Munich. I want to see Tokyo and the Fox Village and Cat Island. I love to travel, I wish I could afford to do it more!
I love love love books and read a lot. I have never been able to pin one specific book or author as a favorite because I love so many different ones. I recently answered a question about books here, and I have a book recs tag as well. One I don’t think I’ve mentioned lately is The Demon’s Lexicon trilogy by Sarah Rees Brenan: The Demon’s Lexicon, The Demon’s Covenant, and The Demon’s Surrender. A+++ books! Magic, family, danger, love, tragedy, hope, humor, love, action… everything you need.
I have watched many movies many times in my life, but lately the thing I’ve rewatched several times is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As a kid, I watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom about 100 times, as well as the original Star Wars trilogy.
Come into my ask box while I’m on bed rest!
Okay, I have a couple of book recommends from the same author for people who like Bam and Kun’s dynamic, but before we proceed, we have to play a quick choose your own adventure:
Do you like Bam and Kun’s dynamic because of the way their skills align, but wish Bam was more of a badass and Kun was more proactive? Pick A!
Do you like Bam and Kun’s dynamic because you dig the whole “two people thrown into a terrible world trying to survive it together” thing and you ship the hell out of them? Pick B!
(If you like both then boy have I got good news for you. I have two book recommendations!)
If you picked A . . . .Pick up the Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan! This is actually the first book in a trilogy that is also very very good and you’ll probably enjoy reading. It features two brothers who spend their time running away from demons and also killing a lot of them, which means that Alan is really really good at lying and Nick is well, really really good at killing. In fact, they’re so good at their respective demon survival strategies that they have a hard time with still being human. That’s not what the book is about though -- the book is about how another pair of siblings comes into their lives and sends everything spinning out of control, but I’m not sure how well I could write about all of that without spoilering it because there’s a lot of twists and turns.
If you picked B . . . . Read The Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan! The relationship between Elliot and Luke is a bit more antagonistic than it is with Bam and Kun but they definitely grow to rely on each other over the course of the series. Elliot has a lot of family problems that he refuses to let anyone in on, and some general self worth issues that he does not let get in the way of changing the whole goddamn fantasy land he’s stuck in, and Luke struggles to live up to his family’s reputation despite everyone thinking he’s perfect pretty much 100% of the time, and also you will cry. Honestly you will cry if you read anything by Sarah Rees Brennan, but that’s a good thing, right? Also features the fantastically violent Serene-Heart-In-The-Chaos-of-Battle, and I’d definitely recommend it if you like the subtle flip of gender roles in Tower of God (like how daughters are more valuable to the residents of the tower than sons and expected to be more fight-y than boys most of the time, idk if anyone else has picked up on those dynamics though.)
