A very heartbreaking story about ShapeShifter, a detrans gay men who regrets his bottom surgery and talks about his tragic experience/aftermath. I feel so sorry for what the medical field did to Shape. I hope that his experience will share a light on the horrible state of gender affirming care in the USA as well as the trans socialisation.

Why do some people detransition? Do they realise they're not trans just when transition is happening?

I can’t answer this question because each person’s reason for detransition tends to be deeply personal. Usually they expected something very different or the pressures of society etc became too much and it’s just easier. I have had moments where I have hurt so much from others not understanding me, from people close to me rejecting me, telling me this is the wrong choice—i understand why people detransition. This isn’t all fun and games and IG pictures. Transition is deeply personal. Their will be losses and gains, growth and pain and a lot changes not only physically but mentally and some people aren’t prepared for that.

Don’t try to make detransition more palatable by downplaying detrans individuals who come to identify with their agab.

How did I downplay anything or make anything "more palatable"?

What I did say is, detransitioners are not all cis people who thought they were trans and have deep regret and hate trans people for it. Most detransitioners are transgender people who are forced back into the closet, who need to stop transitioning for whatever reason. Sometimes they realize they're trans in a different direction. And guess what? There are detransitioners who realize their gender more accurately aligns with their agab AND STILL identify with being trans simply because they did transition. AND there are detransitioners who simply feel their gender shifted, that they were really trans but no longer are. AND most detransitioners love and support trans people, feel connected to the trans community regardless, yes even when they are actually cisgender..

Open your ears and listen to detransitioners beyond the ones you see gaining publicity. Because the public only wants to hear the horror stories.

And really? "Palatable"? You definitely don't follow me!

THe hairs on the upper part of my thigh have gotten slightly darker just recently. I am not bothered by it, but I am a little confused as to what might be causing it, seeing as I have not had any extra androgens in my system for a few months. 

Most of the darkening of my body hair stopped spreading or slowed down right away after I stopped using testosterone. Nothing has really thinned any, but I have not shaved to see how it grows back. (Partly because I am afraid it will not!)
