It is a shame that Wagahara really did not like Urushihara that much because it's just so obvious when you read the light novels. I am really glad that in the manga adaptation the characters don't hate him quite as much. But on that same note I don't really want anything different done with him? I just wish he was more.. present i guess
I feel like the manga specifically did a lot of "haha look at this guy he was a general and now he's just a lazy bum!" But then we don't actually.. see Lucifer when he was a general until volume 0-I and 0-II gets adapted. Which sucks! Because Lucifer was so cool and well written for the volume 0 arc!
We get a really good look at his personality pre-Earth, and he's legitimately a completely different person from Urushihara. At their core they still do what they want and won't care about the shit they get for it. But oh my god his characterization in this part is genuinely like top tier. We finally get to see him show off his strength, we see that he is quite competent, and we see that still he is passionate about doing what he wants when he wants to. I wish we got to see more of it aside from this one part!
Also like seeing that Lucifer was the second general to Satan's army just really highlights how... under appreciated he was? Camio even says himself that Lucifer was very cooperative, the only reason we saw him lash out at this point was because of how Satan had treated him. I'd be pretty pissed too if this guy I've been hanging around since he was a child suddenly abandoned me for the new guy.
It just doesn't make sense that you know unless Lucifer *continued* to have outbursts like that why they still seem to hate him after serving in an army together for so long. C'mon Wagahara you write the demons like coworkers who just met.
This is really just an incredibly long-winded way of me saying that I wish Volume 0-I and 0-II were longer, that more of it got adapted. Or if Lucifer does have more good moments in the light novel that we actually got to see it during the manga's serialization. Lucifer really is such a good character just very underutilized in my opinion.
Can't unsee the fact that Wealwell Gotch is literally just Shiro Ashiya from The Devil is a Part-Timer, except rich.
They are both so sick but so solid.

Maou: [coming in with groceries]
Emilia: Hey. Here, let me... [moving in to take some bags]
Maou: Hey! [transfers all the bags to one hand, then holds Emi's hand with their other]
Emilia: I... No...
Maou: Alas=Ramus is looking
Emilia: Eh? Oh... Sure… [blushing because his hand is so warm]
Seeking anime recommendations
Specifically dumb animes 😄
Lemme explain, me and the bf like really funny, dumb plot, low stakes that are treated like big stakes animes that manage to sneak in some really sincere moments in between all the nonsense. We have watched Food Wars, Spy X Family, The Devil is a Part-Timer, Bento, and we are about to finish Love is War with nothing (yet) to follow it with.
If you know of more fun and dumb shows, even if they're short, we'd love to check them out.
