The final installment in my Gluten Free American Cake Recipes: Gluten Free Devil's Food Cake - Egg & Dairy-Free Options recipe & Video of Texture
I am SHOOK y'all! When I was a little girl I loved going to the Edimens store with my grandma in NY to snag a Marshmallow Devils Food Cake. This week I decided to recreate the better for you vegan version with the help of @InTheRaw Monk Fruit In The Raw #ad, and I can't believe how easy it was. It was also my first time using aquafaba (for the marshmallow icing) and I was blown away. Being vegan really is so easy. Swipe right to get the recipe. #Consciouslyvegan #devilsfoodcake #veganbaking (at Miami, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3fcGcehTAK/?igshid=17in7ui7d9kqt
spoiler ahead
So it's probs really obvious to everyone else but I had to. Just the whole difference between the cakes and what jack would pick. He could have picked the devil food cake (which I prefer) or the angel food cake, and he picks the angel cake. I know its super obvious but I love how something simple can show who jack truly is. He could have ended up like Lucifer, but instead, he picked the good angel (cas). I'm not explaining this very well but I just love the decision and the deeper meaning behind it. If jack picked the other cake, Dean would have lost it and known that jack is probs soulless (which is a whole nother discussion but dm if you want to hear my rant about it), and his first opinions on jack (evil, bad, terrible kid) would have been proven in his mind. I don't think dean actually trusts jack as much as he pretends to, he still sees him as the son of Lucifer and a sort of problem. But he picked the angel food cake, and that showed dean (and us I guess) that jack really is good at heart.
Who's this?! A new hamster?! I'd like to formally introduce #DevilsFoodCake, or #Evie, from @hathorhamstery, aka Mimosa! Evie is a short hair melanistic yellow who appears to carry recessive dappled. She will be joining the ranks of SBH once she's old enough. Isn't she sweet? Look at her little face! She's also the floppy baby I posted a week or so ago. I am so excited to have a sister hamstery to work with and collaborate with. Being able to mutually benefit from our hard work is super gratifying. I can't wait to set up your condo Evie!

Indulge in the decadence of Devil's Food Cake with rich chocolate flavor and a velvety chocolate buttercream frosting. This heavenly dessert is perfect for any chocolate lover.
Ingredients: 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour. 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder. 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda. 1 teaspoon salt. 2 cups granulated sugar. 2 large eggs. 1 cup buttermilk. 1/2 cup vegetable oil. 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract. 1 cup boiling water. For Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 2 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1/4 cup whole milk. 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract. Pinch of salt.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the sugar and eggs together until creamy. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the sugar and eggs mixture. Mix well. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the batter is smooth. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin, but that's okay. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. For the Chocolate Buttercream Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy and smooth. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat until well combined and fluffy. Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of chocolate buttercream frosting on top of one cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake with the remaining frosting. Decorate the cake as desired. Enjoy your Devil's Food Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting!
