READ PINKY’S STORY!
Pinky lives in a small suburb in Manhattan with his father. Her mother died when she was still a baby and her father is the only parent she has. When she was little she sprained her ankle and did not tell her father about it. When the evening came, her father went to her room to bring her a cold compress. She pretended to be sleeping and thought to herself, “How did he know?” and just shrug it off.
When Pinky was ten years old, her best friend would have a birthday party but she didn't know what to wear and where she could get money to buy a gift. Her father is always at work so they didn’t get along well. When the big day came, she was staring at their window thinking what she would do but she noticed an envelope at the counter. She opened it and found money inside. The telephone rang and when she answered it, it was her aunt asking her to go shopping.
Pinky turned fifteen years old and had her first heartbreak. A boy from her school became her boyfriend and cheated on her. When she got home, she ran straight to her bedroom and cried. Hours past, her bedroom opened and her father went inside with a gallon of ice cream and a box of pizza. He smiled, sat beside her and hugged her without saying anything. Pinky thought to herself again, “How did he know?”
Now, Pinky is twenty-one years old and is now in college. She just arrived home, drunk and heartbroken. Her father opens the door for her and she smiles at him sweetly but with hate in her eyes. She quickly goes inside without saying anything but her father stopped her from walking away and asked her what happened. Pinky starts shouting and tells her father that it’s not his business since he never cared for her anyway.
The next morning, she wakes up with a hangover and goes straight to the kitchen to find medicine but there is already soup and a medicine on the table. She knows that her father prepared it for her. Her father is at his room doing something when the doorbell rings, she is about to open the door when her father comes out of his room, stops her and says that he would get it. Pinky is a little bit confused by her father’s action but she thinks that there is something wrong going on. When her father opened the door, a man instantly shot him in the head and died. Pinky shouts and looks at the guy, then she realized it was her boyfriend’s enemy. She thinks that he came for her not for her father but, “How did he know?”
After the funeral, she is looking at some old photos of her with her father when she realizes everything. He was always there, he knew everything and he knew everything she needed. When she was four, ten, fifteen and even when she was already twenty-one years old, her father knew what she needed but she just ignored it and just blamed him for everything. Pinky cries and cries as she realizes that her father was never absent.
How was Pinky’s story? Isn’t it like all of our stories? Most of the time we worry about everything and blame God for everything. We even questioned God’s presence in our life every time we are in a bad situation. However, we always forget that our Father in heaven is always present. He knows everything and he knows what we need.
When we worry about everything, we should always remember that our Father in heaven already knows what we need even before we say it. Jesus taught us to pray, “Our Father” because He knows that our God is also our father that watches over us and knows what we need. He will not let the birds go hungry, how much more us? So we should not worry about anything, it may be clothes, food, money, health or anything because our Father knows our needs and is faithful to provide us all.
Just like how he knew that we will need a Savior. He knew that we will always sin and we will suffer the eternal fire so He sent His Son to save us all. He even promised that a Savior will come since the Old Testament times because He knows. When Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, His wrath was already poured to Him and that when we believed in Jesus, He knew and already granted us our salvation. Jesus knew that we would not be able to save ourselves so He came to save us all. Like a father loves his daughter, our Father in heaven loves us so much too.
Let us not worry about tomorrow because our Father knows what we need. May our Father comfort you in all ways and bless you.
