been back on my batman hyperfix and specifically been thinking about how id write the riddler, who's kind of become my favourite of his rogues (backstory under the cut !)
With his design i mostly just wanted him to look over-dramatic and confident, like he's rich and he want you to know it, and like all his clothes are custom specifically to suit his over-commitment to the bit

Eddie Nygma has always had a bit of an ego. As a young boy, he grew up pretty well off, not particularly close with his parents, and incredibly intelligent.
He was a straight A student, showing mastery at just about everything he tried - be it literature, science, mathematics,etc - and that, in addition to his upper class upbringing, gave him a massive ego.
He was convinced that he was the smartest person in the room at any given time, looked down on his peers and even his teachers and other experts, and was cruel and mean.
He passed through his schooling about as smoothly as he could, not necessarily doing anything terrible, but successfully ruining any relationships he could have had with his peers, not really having any friends by the time he graduated.
Eddie went onto become an entrepreneur, starting a games and entertainment business (subject to change) and it was doing pretty well, but eddie's determination to be the best and most successful businessman drove him to start committing fraud and other underhanded business practices. Initially, it was the need for more, but after starting crime, the idea that he was smart enough to get away with it was what caused eddie to continue and even get more ambitious.
These crimes ended up being exposed by Batman (maybe they're linked to wider crime, or maybe the practices are really underhanded), and Eddie is sent to prison, and his company goes bankrupt. Eddie saw this as the most embarrassing thing that could ever happen to him, as well as a dig at his intelligence. As such, Batman became his greatest adversary, and upon buying his way out of prison, Eddie crafted the persona of the Riddler, hoping to finally outsmart batman once and for all, and, in his mind, to redeem himself from the embarrassment of being caught in the first place.

ive been looking into NPD as a possibility for him, but i want to get a second opinion on that, considering i imagine him to be a dramatic and flamboyant villain character, and im not sure if thatd be a good idea
i also want to have him be bisexual and aromantic but i feel like ad need a second opinion there too
i love the idea of him having his henchmen echo and query (tho id want them to be called quiz and query) and potentially miss tuesday as well
i had the inkling to make quiz and query a girl and a guy who are in a poly-fuckbuddy-situationship with eddie, but idk if that's distateful or not
in a batman story, id definitely want to have some villains be redeemed, and id want eddie to be one of them ! especially if i end up giving him NPD

one of my favorite parts about 3-5 is that when dahlia is pretending to be iris she is just. so fucking bad at it. she kept slipping up and saying rude and passive-agressive things to phoenix that iris Would Not Say because she Haates him. its so funny
Me when there's a character who is a machine made to serve a god and is learning how to be a person and then there's another character who is human who serves a different god who had to learn how to be a killing machine and the two tried to kill each other.
They're both characters in one of my d&d campaigns. The other player 100% will realize who I'm talking about when they see this (Hi! Yes. This is about your blorbo)
These two have only interacted once and that was the attempted murder. They don't even get to interact until Saturday. I need to see how much of themselves they see in the other. They need to interact NOW. I'm going insane being unable to tell my friend my character's lore.
I have NOT played genshin since starting the fontaine quest I thinkkkk??? I graduated vocational school and then went abroad for a couple months over the summer and now I'm sort of settling down again!
I want to get back into Genshin so I feel like capable of writing for it eventually again but as I was last playing it I was having a lot of issues with the writing of the main story (not to even speak on the character diversity)

Thinking about how these limb brains talk via the central hub. How they interweave intertwine interconnect through the body to each other.
How each limb serves the main body works to keep it alive.
How it makes me think about pluralistic individuals sometimes. As a loose metaphor.
For how something that individuals can see as odd or strange or even dangerous just. operates just fine. As a normal functional part of nature that doesn't need to be changed.
It has nine brains that work together to keep themselves alive. And that's pretty fucking neat

the concept of these two guys, given a mantle that was beautiful and hope inspiring and gave them so much meaning, then getting ousted from their own narrative, only to claw their way back and fight for the right to belong in this new world, different from the one that made them feel safe before
the idea that they'd understand that all the things others hate about them is a side effect of that othering they experience
the way CK's fight to come back is what gave Jason his own chance back, theyre literally kindred spirits and I just think it's neat
I like to think that teen titans era robin was in a broody, i-have-to-be-a-serious-leader kind of space, but the team helped him to relax and be his own hero, and batman would be SO grateful to them for it
Starfire's fashion taste especially would influence the discowing era
