Pairing: Whitaker x Reader, Whitaker x Older! Reader
Description: A certain pair of puppy eyes don't seem to drift from you
Warnings: im in love with pathetic whitaker smh
The beach greeted you with its warm sun. Rays spread across your back as you rested against the shore, sand sticking to your skin with that uncomfortable coarseness. You were desperate to tan before the wedding, basking in every inch of warmth you could gather. You have always been able to tan rather well, and you wouldn't stop now simply because you're reaching your mid-thirties. Besides, you have no kids, no husband and a gaggle of nurses who would gladly do the same, give or take a few.
Your eyes flickered over the beach, Langdon and Mel seemed to be speaking about something, Robby had a fruity drink in his hand with his eyes on Abbot and Dennis who was supposed to be paying attention to Santos was too busy staring at you to even think. A smirk flickered, the corner of your lips tugging up.
This was not the first time you had caught Whitaker staring like some lovesick puppy. At work he could at least manage to keep his composure between patients, but now there was nothing there to keep him together. The first time you caught his eyes on this island was when you were checking in, eyes bright and smile wide as you spoke a language he couldn't understand. Your eyes caught as you gestured to the group of your coworkers and friends behind you and he swore for a moment that your gaze lingered on him longer than it should have. Then there was breakfast, where even though you were exhausted from travel, you still managed to have this effortless beauty to you. You had lost count after that.
"Oh god.. I really don't get paid enough for this." Trinity grumbled, eyes shutting momentarily as a groan slipped past her lips. That was enough to pull Dennis out of his puppy love gaze. "What? You uh.. you aren't even getting paid though?" He stammered, head tilted slightly as his brows furrowed deeply.
Trinity huffed. He couldn't be this dumb, but better yet, he definitely could be.
"That's the point, Huckleberry—" Her tone was sour. With a sigh and an adjustment to her sunglasses she began to speak again, her tone the slightest bit softer. "If you're going to keep staring at her like a boy going through puberty, you might as well grow some balls and go talk to her." Now this was a change of heart. Typically, Trinity spent her time making fun of Dennis for his little puppy love. A childish longing for their older coworker that was yet to dissipate after a year of awkward stammering and lingering glances. recently he had begun to ramble to her about it and God did she regret sharing a room with him here as well.
He paused, a tentative glint flashing behind his warm eyes. His body tensed as if he was going to stand, shirtless muscles gleaming in the sunlight, and then he just stopped.
"I'll do it later."
That was the excuse he had used today, the night before and three times the day before that. At this point, Santos was going to murder him. She could choke him out in the goat room and stuff him with hay in hopes that no one notices, but then again, she wouldn't get to see the drama that unfolds when he finally does grow the courage to talk to his favourite nurse outside of work. She let the topic rest.
Their bickering had always intrigued you, but you simply couldn't be bothered with getting up to listen in a little closer.
Night followed rather quickly. People rushed to get ready, yourself included, for a night of drinking and celebration. While the wedding was still three days away, you all couldn't help yourselves. Freedom from the pitt called for a celebration, wedding or no wedding.
Lavendar fabric clung to your hips, a sundress that showed a little more skin than what was respectable to share adorning your body in the most perfect ways. Your hair was left out, the salty sea air keeping your waves intact as you combed your fingers through them. Makeup wasn't a top priority for you in this moment, not wanting to put in too much effort when the night was dark and you were bound to ruin it later, so instead you kept it to a minimum, concealer, contour and a blush that matched the berry tint of your lip gloss.
Your shoes made a gentle tap with each step you took towards the outdoor area where mosaic tiles lined the floors and fairy lights strung across the trees. Music bounced off each tile, the distinctive ABBA sound leading to that wide smile spreading across your face once more.
You had caught more eyes than just one, attempting to make small talk with Robby and Abbot who seemed to be more interested in an unknown bet played out between them. You rolled your eyes and left the two older gentlemen to whatever business was occurring between them and made your way towards the makeshift bar. The lights reflected across your jewellery, lighting up your skin with evening glow.
"Vodka orange, please." Your words were light an airy, an ever-polite smile on your face as you nodded towards the bartender. They returned the gesture and began to pour your drink. It came out in a matter of seconds, yet when you went to pay you noticed that someone had beat you to it. An outstretched hand had already tapped their card against the eftpos machine. Your eyes followed up their slender fingers, trailing over each muscle that was a little too well defined under the lights before finally reaching those honeydew eyes you knew all too well.
"I've got it," The mousy brunette spoke, his hair tussled in soft curls that complimented his even softer personality. You thanked him, head tilted back the slightest as your smile turned into that ever-knowing smirk. You noticed his own drink in his other hand, something bright that smelt sweet and tangy. It seemed everyone was picking a tropical drink that day.
After pulling your drink off of a coaster you pushed yourself off from the stool you were leaning on. "You've finally grown some courage," You hummed, gently poking his chest with an accusatory finger before taking a few steps past him away from the bar. You settled in a corner just past the dance floor, Dennis following in suit.
He chuffed and glanced down at his drink. "Not without the help of this," He was growing bashful once more, his heart hammering in his chest. Dennis couldn't figure out if it was the alcohol or the fact that you were in such close vicinity. Your hips swayed along subtly with the music as you took a sip of your drink. There was no plan to get insanely drunk, but a few drinks wouldn't hurt. Unknown to you, Dennis couldn't take his eyes off of you, watching each and every subtle movement had him biting his bottom lip. With a sudden act of motivation, he gulped down the rest of his drink, cringing at the sharp taste of vodka on his gin. He discarded the cup on a table not too far away and upon walking back to you, his hands slid to your hips, gently grasping them with a squeeze. The brunette leaned in, his lips brushing your ear in a way that had shivers spreading down your spine.
You tensed momentarily before leaning into the touch. Your skin grew hot under his touch, lavender fabric scrunched in his palms as he squeezed your hips. "You do... things to me.." he mumbled, lips brushing your skin. Now this was new, liquid courage had pushed him forward, his desires and that puppy love turning into something more.
Instead of leaning into the touch, giving into the brush of his lips and hot breath, you pulled away. Turning to face him, you gave him a soft smirk. "Does your mother know what you're doing, Dennis?" You hummed, raising a brow.
"I sure hope not.." he muttered, almost taking your words as a rejection. His cheeks flushed and he swallowed hard. "I know what I'm doing.." he whispered your name softly, as if he'd known you for years.
You glanced at the dance floor and then back at Dennis. "You better put your money where your mouth is, hun." Your smug tone made him shiver.
This is your formal invitation to the island of Skopelos to celebrate your colleague's wedding. Follow along with your coworkers from the Pitt as they enjoy celebrations, confrontation and confessions.

pairing: Grace x reader, rocky mention
description: goodbyes were never your forte, but you hated missing them
A/n: most likely out of character grace and rocky, sorry gang smh
"I have something to show you..." A hand met between your shoulder blades, gently guiding you in the direction of a private room. N.A.S.A's interior was much larger and cleanlier than you imagined it to be, lined with white panels and an abundance of meeting rooms that you were sure your lover had visited one too many times. Eva Stratt had given you permission to wander the halls while you waited for her and during your exploration the most interesting thing you found was a small tim-tam now hidden in the pocket of a three-quarter zip. Too bad there were no experiments to keep your mind off the inevitable.
You both stood before a brown door, Eva's name was written in a gold font across the glass insert. She was a woman of control and certainty, the opposite of the person you could ever be or wanted to be. You found facts and logics often clouded emotions, building a dam around much needed emotions. Despite this, you admired her.
"Mrs Grace," She began.
You froze.
There had been a time where hearing that name caused you to immediately tear up. Your sweet, doting husband, the man who left you to save the world. All your best memories included him, as well as the worst. Bile almost forced its way up your throat, but you pushed the feeling aside and took seat in the cushioned chair sitting just in front of an oak desk.
"Please, don't call me that."
Eva nodded and took a few small strides to the chair just behind the desk. Once she was seated, she was already logging into her computer. All of the files and videos that Dr Ryland Grace had sent over on the probe had been saved to a hard drive that only herself and others with special permission were granted to use. Everything from the research on astrophage to an introduction to Rocky were all sorted by level of importance. Effortlessly she pulled up a video, her fingers pausing as she opened it to full screen. "Okay," she spoke your name with a slight shakiness. Eva had originally planned to watch this video herself, however in the back of her mind she knew it was never going to be for her, not after she had sent him unwillingly to his death behind the back of his wife.
"I am not sure if you recall, but Dr Grace was sent out with probes to show his findings and send them back to earth as soon as possible," your chest tightened, "There is one specifically for you." Your eyes widened as you swallowed whatever bile you originally held bac. Erratically. you shook your head. You had gone years without seeing your husband and yet each day never got easier. He left you for a mission in space, one that he knew he would never return on, and he did not even bother to tell you until it was already too late. You both had to live with the consequences. Eva simply didn't have the heart to tell you the sacrifices she was willing to make at the time for the sake of all of humanity.
Her hand gently swivelled the screen to face you. "I will leave. I suggest you watch it," your name left her lips one last time. You took note of the sorrow and almost look of guilt that was furrowed deep within her brows. You didn't understand why she looked that way, not when this was nowhere near her fault. She may have been a prominent leader and decision maker in project hail Mary, but she was not the one who sent your husband on an endless trip to space to die. Or at least that was what you were told to believe. She stood, her dark coat swaying with each step she took closer towards the door. For a moment the slim woman turned back, her gaze resting on your tearful and scared eyes. "I will be outside when you need me." With one last nod she slipped outside, off to find you both a coffee... maybe two for herself.
You on the other hand could not even turn to acknowledge her. The cover screen of the video showed grace in his "I have potential!" graphic tee. It was the same one you had gifted him for his thirtieth birthday as a joke. He would have worn it every day if he was able to. The blonde was looking off screen with that gentle smile he typically saved for his students. Admiration and care pooled in his eyes, a certain glow to him that made this all too unbearable.
"I can do this..." you whispered.
Finally, you pressed play.
"Rocky, is it centred?"
His voice flooded the audio and for a moment it was like he was right next to you. You paused, choking back tears. You never moved on, simply returned to work as the school counsellor and dreaded the damned questions of your husbands eight grade science class. You pressed play.
"UH. Rocky don't know word. What is. question." There was a chuckle that came from your lover before he assisted his newfound friend to hold the camera on a slightly better tilt. Grace shook his head. "She just needs to see my face." he hummed in approval, suddenly unsure of what to say. They didn't have much space left in the memory drive, sow whatever important message he had to tell you he just had to say it. But after so long without you, with so many words and thoughts and feelings muddled in his brain all at once it became difficult to find the perfect thing to say to you. His wife, the woman he hadn't seen in over a few years now was probably still devoted to him, as he was to her and just as lonesome as he was, despite his friendship with Rocky.
"Hi..." He began, only to be interrupted by a brown rocklike structure to jolt in front of the camera. "Hi Grace mate!" Rocky emitted with a bright beam despite his faceless characteristics. Grace rolled his eyes, but there was a smidge of a smile forming across his aged face. He looked different, worn and tired, but still the same man you fell in love with.
"I wish I could see you right now. I never wanted to leave you like this, and I am so deeply sorry for not being able to see you... to um. to warn you before leaving. I didn't know I was leaving either..." He admitted, "But-!" He exclaimed, "I don't want to leave you empty handed." There was a moment of silence, neither rocky nor grace spoke.
You almost couldn't handle the flood of tears ready to roll down your face, drowning you beneath their salty weight. You had already seen Rocky from photos that a few other senior workers had given you the blessing of seeing. it seemed that Rocky was a good companion for Grace, and you appreciated that, even if the only thing you wanted in the moment was the peace of your husbands' arms wrapped tightly around you. You pulled the jacket on tighter, attempting to soak up the last warmth of Grace before paying attention on the video. You had turned away for too long, missing a small second where Rocky had gone off after Grace's request of privacy.
"He can still hear me, you know. Echolocation and all that, privacy is at a premium nowadays," he snickered, "Not like I had much anyway with you around." His eyes watered and he sighed, looking down at his lap.
His glasses slid down the slope of his nose, and you almost felt the urge to fix them despite being years away from him.
"I don't have much to say, just this," Grace inhaled deeply and pulled his glasses to the side. tears had already began forming, even as he tried to wipe them away. He would typically attribute it to dust or some fluff that had gotten in his eyes, but not this time. "It's been lonely without you in the mornings. I have Rocky, but it's not the same without you. I don't get to feel you or talk to you... God, I can only see you through a polaroid from our wedding." He rubbed his temple and closed his eyes.
You heard a small rumble in the background but didn't pay no mind to it as silent tears cascaded down your cheeks until you were nothing more than a mess of tears and snot.
He sighed once again, pushing a few stray curls away from his face. "I don't want you to forget that I will forever be here for you, even when I am light years away and... and not able to come home. We're hoping I can find a way back after I help Rocky, but I don't want to get your hopes up, sweetheart. I love you." He smiled at you.
And then it was over. Graces voice died off with the video and the screen turned black. Unable to move, paralysed by grief, you simply sat and sobbed. There was no attempting to console you. Grace was alive, but rather it felt he had died years ago, and this was just a simple façade of a way for you to forgive the betrayal that he had caused you. No. There was no point in holding a grudge, not at this point anyway. You understood that grace meant every word, and that was all you needed as you curled up in his jacket.
Would anyone be interested in some House x reader x Wilson content??? I fear they're eating at my brain. House is whispering devious things through my ear and Wilson is doing nothing to stop him smh
Pairing: Ex!Langdon x Reader
Description: You're ashamed to admit the number of times you crawl back to him on this island
Warnings: It's frank guys..., also i haven't written in such a long time due to a current fixation on harry potter that i've neglected the pitt smh
Golden rays glimmered across the sand, its warmth settling on the soles of your feet as you wrapped your towel around your body. The island had many beauties, but you found yourself constantly straying to the coolness of the water to combat the summer heat. There was no certainty of why you had been invited to this wedding, not when you had no real connection to the bride or groom other than being passing coworkers, however you would give just about anything for a free holiday.
You shivered in the breeze, folding the corner of the towel in the fabric already covering you in an attempt to keep it up. The warmth of the sun was minimal against your goosebump littered skin even as you stayed cozied up in your towel. Reaching for your bag, you let out a soft sigh, ready to brave the rocky climb up to the hotel. It wouldn't be too hard, simply annoying with the absence of good shoes; however, you were glad you were yet to trek up the mountain for the actual ceremony. Who knows how badly your feet would ache after that.
A pair of warm eyes seemed to burn into your back, tracing each mole and freckle it could find as if it had seen them time and time again. Langdon had seen more of your skin than this, yet it seemed to feel like a distant memory. Each time you spoke was more clinical than the last, except for the night of the bachelorette party.
The two of you had shared more than just hushed words and soft kisses, but rather tender moments of intimacy shrouded in the light of the moon on this very beach. Hands rushed to claim what was once theirs, lips chasing that missing warmth. He shook away the thoughts. Everyone knew of his betrayal to you. The promise he broke one year ago when word spread of his substance abuse within the ER. You were unfortunate enough to find out on the night shift after passing Robby, his disappointed and furious aura had you second guessing clocking in. After growing up around a family that struggled with addiction, you could not see your lover fail to recognise his own patterns and so you left.
Yet, here you both were.
Your eyes locked as you turned, a sudden hitch of breath caught in your throat beneath a vomit of words. "Langdon..." You hummed his name as if it was something you had done your whole life, gentle and sweet like honey. For a moment it felt like nothing had changed, especially when that comfortable smile spread across his face. And, in this moment, you wanted nothing more than for it to be the way it was.
He spoke your name with a comfort you had not felt in months. His steps left prints of his sandaled feet reaching you. Langdon reached a calloused hand out, the warmth of his palm kissing your cheek as his thumb brushed your lips. You went to speak but words failed when you needed them most.
"Don't. I don't need to hear your disappointment and shame." Frank spoke with a certain calm sternness that sent a shiver down your spine. "I know my faults, I know you can't forgive me and I'm not asking you to forget forever... But just for the week." Those damned eyes that held you like a chain. How could you even think of denying him when he looked so pathetic, grovelling for you as if he didn't have you all to himself mere nights ago.
"Frank, we can't keep doing this." your voice sounded desperate. A plea for survival beneath his puppy dog eyes. Here you were, thinking once more about the consequences of your actions. They never truly felt like consequences when you both always got what you wanted in the end. After mulling it over in your mind momentarily you sighed, giving a slight nod. "One last time and that is it.." you spoke firmly, although you both knew you were bound to give in again and again.
Summary: Iida finds it amusing how much you enjoy posting him on your Instagram
Characters/Pairings: Iida x reader, fem!Reader
Warning: smau, fem!reader but that's simply due to the pfp i picked, minor mention of the incident with Iida's brother, established relationship, no war becuase I still haven't finished watching past s2 💀
Word Count: ~500
A/N: This is my first time writing anything mha related!! my bad to anyone using a pc or laptop, i fear the layout might not be as aesthetic as i've planned LMAO
It had only been two hours since you posted the sweet photo of Iida and your local stray, and yet for some reason you couldn't help but yearn to post more. An abundance of photos had been compiled in your phone's gallery, so many to the point where your phone had taken upon itself to make a personal folder just for your sweet boyfriend, Tenya Iida. Most were of him resting against your chest, dark hair messily spread across his face as he slept soundly against your warm skin, while others were more serious, such as the professional photos taken of him at sports events. Every single photo held a memory, whether it be enjoyable or embarrassing and you planned to treasure every single one of them.
While you were already pressing the small plus at the bottom of your screen, Iida had found his way towards your spot on the lounge. Your eyes flickered upwards and your face softened into a sweet smile. The relationship you shared had been built upon mutual trust and a genuine bond. You were there for him when his brother was injured, pushing him until he finally opened up. In many ways, that was the beginning of your gentle relationship. You sighed at the thought, something that Iida had picked up on almost instantaneously. He set himself down next to you, arm gently wrapping around your waist to pull you into his warm chest. It had been two years since graduation, and five years since you first started dating. Although he had been rather shy with any displays of affection in the beginning, he was completely comfortable now.
"I saw your post.." He whispered into your ear, the cool frame of his glasses brushing against your cheek as he leaned in to rest his head against your shoulder. Your cheeks flushed, nose scrunching up as you recognised the subtle hint of amusement settled deep beneath his words. "Did you like it?" Your eyes lit up at his small nod against your warm skin, feeling the soft touch of his lips against your cheek.
Iida couldn't stop that gentle smile that spread across his face at your words. He found it silly how desperate you were to finally announce to the world that you were dating through your socials. You'd taken a long break after an incident in highschool, hence why you were only now hard launching your boyfriend across your Instagram feed. He gave a gentle nod and soft hum, his hand squeezing your waist before he finally spoke again.
