i hate how people act like the word " man " being in someones identity automatically cancels out all of their other identities and means they can never be oppressed. ☼

because everyone knows that men of colour, intersex men, disabled men, gay men, trans men, neurodivergent men, and men who are apart of other minorities aren't oppressed, they're men, and everyone knows men aren't and cant be oppressed ! ( sarcasm ) ☼

Never not going to be angry every single time the PWHL hires another white man as a coach.

This is an active choice they are making. And any excuse they can come up with is also a choice.

If you want to claim that there are not enough women and marginalized men to fill the positions you need to prove it. You need to provide me a list of every single professional coach in hockey, and give me your qualification for coaches in this league. I need you to tell me why you made the qualifications the way you did. Because qualifications don’t exist in a vacuum. They can also be imbedded in ableism, white supremacy, and patriarchy.

Maybe there aren’t enough women who want to be professional coaches! Just like how they don’t want to be professional hockey players. Oh wait. They do! Please go back to a feminism 101 with a focus away from bio essentialism and you can rejoin the conversation after.

The PWHL doesn’t pay well enough to entice professional women’s coaches to join the league! Up the pay! Easy. Fixed it. That’s a choice they are making, not a scarcity problem. New leagues require investment and everyone knows that. But while we are on it. White men having the societal and economic privilege to take lower paying jobs while advancing their careers is part of patriarchy and male privilege.

If we have fixed and addressed all these things and there genuinely is not enough women and marginalized men who want to join the league who are qualified, then I need the league to outline the steps and programs they are putting in place to make sure they are fixing the problem.

Anything less than that, is willingly perpetuating systems and that’s not acceptable.

I don’t believe the white men who are coming in and accepting these positions are any kind of genuine feminist allies. They are looking at these positions and seeing the same discrepancy and choosing to continue to contribute to it. Why are they not comfortable calling out hiring discrepancy between white men and literally everyone else in the league? Why are they not also angry?

WhiteCherryLavender! The PWHL and the Walter Group are the system! You can’t expect capitalist elitist to actually care and do the work. I don’t expect them to. That doesn’t mean I won’t call it out and demand better. Especially when they advertise based on being inclusive and building a better future. I want the better future they are trying to sell. Which is all to say welcome François Méthot as head coach to the Boston Fleet. Blah blah blah. Treat my team well. Take some intersectional feminist classes please. Good luck and all that jazz. I’m sure you’re a perfectly fine person and gonna try your best. I hope it goes well. I currently have nothing against you personally.

I think there should be more positivity for men. I think we need to call men beautiful and handsome, and tell them they can cry, and tell them people love them, and reassure them that being men doesnt make them evil, and encourage them to have friends and hobbies and relationships and community or none of that at all.

We need to let men know that they are appreciated: cis or trans or both or neither, of all skin colors and religions, queer or not, ace, aro, aplatonic, disabled physically or mentally, feminine or masculine or something else, men who are also women or non-binary, men who are shy, men who are sensitive, intersex men, non-binary men, all men!!

Happy pride month but also, happy mens mental health month, remember this encapsulates all men. Trans men, queer men, disabled men, black men, Asian men, unhoused men & marginalized men.

Men are about 4x more likely to commit suicide than women, trans men, disabled men are roughly 3x more likely to commit suicide the non-disabled individuals. trans individuals in general are have a high suicide rate [accurate statistic to be added],

Check in with your families, your friends, even acquaintances. You never need a reason to reach out, If you're concerned, or even just have an inkling of a feeling, reach out.

This month, on top of their white supremacist and transphobic ass rhetoric, conservatives, especially those on the manosphere are going to use men's mental health month is an excuse to bash pride month.

Under no other context would these creators care about the mental health of their viewers or men in general. By disregarding pride they're disregarding queer men, showing more of their disinterest in mental health until it's something they can use as a tool.

These people don't actually care about men they only care about what can line their pockets and get them power. And right now that's the ability to give misogynistic men a little boost in pride so they can have a small win even on the one month that caters to a marginalized group they don't like.

These types of creators especially have targeted young men, ranging from roughly 10 to early 20s, the type of rhetoric they spew—misogynistic, white supremacist, racist, queerophobic nonsense, are all things that will affect young men, not just the image they have of others but also theirselves. The "grindset alpha males" also has a horrible impact on young men's body image, men are just as susceptible to eating disorders and unhealthy practices as women and other groups. Please, if you worry for a young boy or a young man that may be getting sucked down these rabbit holes, reach out. Guide them towards better outlets, shaming or inciting violence—especially on those with impressionable minds—will often only encourage those children & young adults to sink further into the cesspit and become more radicalized as you have proven them right, the "others" are all "like that".

Men as a group may not be oppressed, but I really don’t know how to talk about men and any other marginalization without talking about how being a man affects those experiences.

Trans men don’t experience transphobia tm

Disabled men don’t experience ableism tm

Neurodivergent men don’t experience ableism tm

Gay men don’t experience homophobia tm

They experience a unique version of these things that is informed by their manhood/masculinity. Men do not experience a general oppression that is informed by just their other marginalizations. It’s also informed by their gender. Men are not “the default gender” and their experiences are not “the default oppression” removed from gender.

God, I'm tired of people shitting on men and dictating that we must feel ashamed to be male.

I'm never going to feel ashamed of being male again, it's taken me years to get over the sexism ingrained in to me by misandrists posing as people wanting equality, years of women spreading falsehoods that all men are evil, r*pists, violent, and mysoginists by default.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being male or masculine, no man should be torn down for simply being male, men shouldn't have to deal with bullshit blanket statements that we are all inherently bad, and mens issues need to be taken seriously instead of mocked.

I'm a man, and I love being a man, I'm gonna be as manly as I damn well want and nobody is going to tell me I can't, fuck feeling self hatred for who I am, 2021 is the year of feeling unending self love for who I am!

why do i speak out so loudly about men’s issues?

because i see many feminists talk about how men’s issues are feminist issues too, but very few of them actually advocate for men. i know some who do, but i could probably count them on one hand. even the other men i know don’t tend to speak about this stuff. it’s like so many of them are scared to “speak over” women, when it’s okay to talk about whatever’s bothering us as long as we make a new topic.

we are really deprived of resources that either 1) don’t blame us for everything that’s wrong with the world or 2) don’t reek of toxic “masculinity” and alpha-male bullshit.

i understand there is more work to do in order to combat other things like misogyny, but if we’re going to improve society for everyone, we can’t leave this subject out entirely. so if this is a subject to which i can bring more attention, i’m going to do it. 💜
