Treat your disabled dogs and other pets well, please.

The way you treat disabled animals heavily refects how you treat disabled humans and people.

There's too many people who give them out to the first person they see without care of how that person may treat them or their ability to care for a disabled animal.

They abandon them on the streets.

Or abusing them by ignoring their disability and letting preventable suffering happen.

They euthananize them unnecessarily, while the dog still has a good chance to live a healthy and fulfilling life just because it would be a bit inconvenient.

"It's just a dog, it doesn't matter," shut the fuck up and get off my page. You are not welcome here if you believe animal lives are inherently worth less than human lives. Humans are animals. Everyone is an animal. The value of a creature's soul or being is not determined by the species it belongs to. I understand caring more about a human, but you should not hurt and abuse animals because of it.

The youngest Inko could have been when I got him would have been a few months old, giving him a June birthday. And since Ohtori's hatch date is the 25th (May), and Steve was also hatched about then (April), Inko can be too-so, happy at-least-12th hatchday to my angry little green bean

He was advertised as a budgie on the local online Craigslist equivalent, being fed wild bird seed, bread, and walnuts. His cage had one perch. I had to travel by bus and train for hours to get him and he complained the whole way back, and the first night after he was covered was when I found out he laughs. It took a while to realise he was disabled, because his original cage was so small, he was always hanging and moving in weird ways, even after being transferred to his current large cage. He didn't fly for years and has never accepted stepping up on hands.

When I adopted Athena last month, we knew she had leg deformities but didn't realize the full extent of her disability until we were able to see an orthopedic surgeon. She has bilateral carpal flexor contractures, a condition so rare the specialist had never seen a cat with it and his colleague had only seen one case. They recommended splinting her legs until she's grown more and then they want to do total wrist fusion of both front legs (two surgeries that total to $11,000). I was already shocked by the estimate and then was told that doesn't include the thousands of dollars of xrays and physical therapy she will need before and after the surgery. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of this and just want to help this little kitten. She is just the sweetest and all she wants is to play and snuggle. I hate knowing she's in pain from the pressure sores caused by her condition and want to get her the best treatment possible.
