“You were my thing.”

Anne Bonny never mentions Izzy. Mary Read talks about Ed's exes but what she says is that they're all "artsy outsiders" which could not possibly describe Izzy any less, and she never mentions Izzy. Hornigold never mentions Izzy even though he does bring up other people Ed knew during that time of his life, Felix and Calico Jack - and this is all happening inside Ed's brain, and we know he IS thinking about Izzy because Izzy shows up in a flashback, so it would make sense for his dream-Hornigold to bring up Izzy if he thought Hornigold knew who Izzy was. Calico Jack does mention Izzy but only in the context of having met with him recently and he refers to him by full first and last name like he's talking about a stranger. It's definitely not a normal way to talk about someone you and the person you're talking to both grew up with, especially not for CJ who loves dumb nicknames.
If Izzy were meant to have been around during the Hornigold days, at least ONE of those characters would have brought it up.
#664.

I was too impatient to wait for the actual event to publish, so this has been out there for a bit, but hyping it again today! The original post about this event was the thing that finally got the wheels turning for an idea I'd been thinking about for a long time, and I'm really glad for that, thank you @ofmdrareships
Also, if you saw the post I reblogged the other day about what bad sex in a story can say about the characters, this is one of the answers I had in mind. (along with my previous take in this arena) The feeling of loneliness and isolation, the need for connection and the inability to connect, the idea of having everything but not having anyone. Getting advice that sounds right but maybe isn't, actually. And that glimmer of hope that maybe, someday....
(thanks again to @unadulteratedkr @asneakyfox @oatmilktruther @emi--rose and @jellybeanium124 for various contributions to this effort)
One of the big things with Ed’s relationship to Stede is that Ed has never allowed himself to feel vulnerable. He’s had to be defensive, tough, mean, just to survive. He’s never been able to let his guard down. Jack even remarks on how Ed has lost his edge - he trusts people too much, he should have seen what Jack was up to - and it’s implied there that this is a result of his relationship with Stede.
Of course, we see that Ed is becoming more his authentic self. He wants to be able to be vulnerable and can’t be. He wants to show someone his softness and has never been able to. And he hates himself for what he perceives as his monstrosity in being able to be as violent as he has been. With Stede, he finds himself able to relax enough to be vulnerable and to set his weapons and defenses down.
I don’t think Ed would have been submissive in the past - he would have never felt safe enough to be. I think that’s interesting to consider.
Really excited for the disastercule fic I wrote, which deals with gender, messy sex, Big Feelings, and the question of whether or not Jack knows what foreplay is. Here it is in time for Disastercule Weekend!
Three days and counting! Get ready to spend the weekend with your favorite disasters, Ed, Jack, Anne, and Mary! See our pinned post for more info and a text doc with all the prompts.

I wrote a fic! Which is probably the least "me" thing I've written ever in my entire life. Tumblr hates AO3 links today, but it's here, it's called "2.0," it's a double drabble, it's rated M (what have I become), and it's based on this result from the OFMD Rare Ships Week Prompt Generator:
Which should serve as its own warning, really.
Thanks to @ofmdrareships for introducing Drabble Writing Friday!
