Alters with physical dissabilities

So, don't know about you guys, but I'm an alter in a system and I have a dissability. The body doesn't have any physical dissabilities that any of us are aware of, but I particularly have (way too many in my opinion) Most of mine are my legs/spine? Sometimes I can walk, most of the time I don't have a lot of muscle movement or control though, so it's very hard, or my legs give out. Sometimes I just get physically exhausted and easily winded, or occasionally pass out. I know for a fact, one of the other alters we have is blind and another mute, but both stem from trauma we know and recognise, mine, from what I'm aware, doesnt, because I don't have trauma memories, except from a recent not good relationship. I was just wondering if any other systems had alters with dissabilities similar to mine, that may know what the cause would be? I have a feeling it is a theoretical/literal sort of metaphor for emotional and physical trauma that the body has gone through that translates to me in some way? Any thoughts would help! -Tohou

The orange chicken

I can’t believe that is almost 2020 and mainstream-media doesn’t give it’s deserved room to people with dissabilities or physical impediments in news, shows or cartoons. I’m hitting this topic because soon I will become a professor and I know it’s going to be really hard for one to have to deal with this in real life, but I believe is harder for the kid or person itself. I watch a lot of cool new cartoons and although I have seen an increased oppening towards sexual orientations, I don’t see any type of disscussion about people with dissabilities and personally I believe that’s a topic that has been around for a longer time (not saying that one topic is a lot more important than the other one). However, a child growing up in the modern society should have the resouces or basi knowledge to deal with all different types of people that they may find in their lifes and cartoons could provide to be a method to introduce kids into this kind of topics. -how to talk to them? -how to approach them? -how different are they from us? People with dissabilities or impediments are not monsters, they are people just like us but somehow the mainstream media is affraid to show that.

His sense of touch/feel degenerate the more he uses his magic. The magic is slowly  damaging his nerve system. It starts with his hands and slowly travels from there. The thing is though, it can regenerate, but the rate it does is so slow that it never really heals. (like if he would fight one day in the league, he has to have two weeks to recover from the effects.) 

He has insomnia. Sleep doesn’t come easy for the wicked as they say xD

The only person he really trusts is himself, and perhaps Malcolm when he’s not pointing Destiny his way. (Malcolm is the closest person he trusts after the Burning Tides.) With the exile and the large part of Malcolm hating him and the break-up between him and Evelynn made him insecure how much he’s worth to others. So he rarely fully opens himself to others. He rather show his flirtatious and teasing mask than truly letting you know what’s going on in his head.

so i was trying to have a nice mature convorsation with tumblr user unityy and they basically told me a friend of mine who has adhd and depression is an ablest for disagreing with her and is being completely childish about it. can someone please explain to me how someone with a disability would be an ableist? is she implying that adhd and depression arent legit dissabilities? i guess the poinnt im trying to get across is tumblr user unityy is obviously confused and likes to play the “i have a disability so fuck you ableist” card.

NOTE: i am not an ableist. i literally babysit children with mental dissabilities, i am just frustrated at her specifically

Something ive delt with when i confide in some of my male friends about my illnesses and disabilities (both mental and physical) is that they think if im with them all my problems will go away.

There basically saying “nonono shhh its ok you’re big and fucked up shhhshhh let me fix you with my dick.why are you crying? God you’re so sensitive! Shhh shh come on im perfect just give me a chance!”

Like really that instantly puts you on a nevereverbewith list.

If you’d help a one-armed man open a door, or a wheel-chair bound woman get something off a high shelf, BUT pick on an autistic kid and mock a dyslexic kid, you’re still an asshole. Disabilities are disabilities. Whether you can see them or not.

What do you dislike about public transport, or transport in general?

For one of my projects for school, I need o create something that can help anyone on public transport, or any transport, wether you drive a car, walk, take the train or public bus. Wether you have social anxieties, or mobility disadvantages. Please tell me things you possibly dislike about public transport, and maybe some possible ways it would be improved for YOU.
