Illustrations - Storm Coast Arc
These are to accompany chapters of my Solavellan Longfic Divergent Paths. 🐺💕🖐️
Chapter 24: Spy - Campfire night while travelling to the Storm Coast with Krem.
Chapter 25: Drizzle - That awesome moment when they witness the showdown between the Vinsomar and the giant.
Chapter 26: Blades - The Mercy's Crest offers an opportunity to challenge the leader of the Blades of Hessarian. (The puppies are ok, I promise!)
Chapter 27: Sacrifice - Chasing after Grey Warden tracks they stumble upon a rift inside a cave. Mistakes are made.
Here's a little excerpt from this scene:
“Dia’Adahl, please stay with me. You need to close the rift. Now.” He pleaded with her, growing desperate. The rift above them started crackling once more. He hoped he had enough mana left for one more Fade step. He would carry her out of here, abandoning the others to their fate, if he was forced to. She moaned a little, and opened her eyes, lids heavy and sluggish. “Solas?” She asked, voice barely audible. “Yes, it’s me. Please, find the strength inside you. We must close the rift.” He begged. Her eyelids slid shut once more, but she nodded. “Help me.” She whispered. And she raised her left hand toward Solas. He hesitated for a moment, then grabbed her by the arms and pulled her forward. He sat down on the ground behind her, pulling her into his lap in a half-sitting position. Then he took her hand, this time gently sliding his palm over the back of her hand, grabbing her wrist with his thumb, raising the arm a little. “It’s time, Dia. I am here. I will help. You are strong, you can do this.” He whispered to her, pressing his nose to her temple as he held her close to his chest with his right arm. Even now, she smelled wonderful. “Yes.” She said, struggling to keep her eyes open. Solas pressed his lips to her temple and kissed her there once. The gesture was almost reverent. Full of hope. He looked up and tapped into the anchor. Instead of commanding, this time he used his own will as a scaffolding for Dia’s command. The anchor flared, connecting to the rift once more. Dia cried out in pain, but Solas soothed her, supported her struggling body and pressed his remaining mana into their connection. He tasted burnt cinnamon and nutmeg on his tongue."
Chapter 28: Serpentstone - After traipsing across the Storm Coast The Iron Bull catches a moment with Lavellan under the starry sky.
It was a fun challenge to try and colour night time scenes and adverse weather conditions while maintaining the clear colouring-book style I prefer.
The chapters have been updated on AO3 too! I would love to hear from you if you're reader. 💕
Thanks all, for looking!
