Whenever I try to explain dnd to people I say it's like a video game but instead of a limited list of options you can do literally anything
I usually use the example of that one time my character got drunk and played cards with a plant, and lost.
I only attended 1 (one) of my group's DnD sessions. My new favourite hobby is drawing their bbeg in maid outfits.
I do not dare show it to their dm.
This is my girl, Keahi. She’s a gold Dragonborn monk, and she’s just a bundle of chaos. Can’t wait to share more about her as I go
Interrupting my semi hiatus to have a quick nerd happy dance day.
I got an owlbear plushie!!! And it's the cutest! My DND group beware!
(I'm melting over how adorable and soft it is!! Taking name suggestions because I'm bad at naming things XD)
DND quotes
Druid: Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, ima hit this bitch in the dick
A slice of DM life #2
It was meant to be an easy sneak-by.
I’ve begun the one-on-one sessions with a third player character, who will eventually be added to the campaign. She’s a cryomancer nikiv from the northern parts of Shardeyle, who has studied at the Mage Academy of Isenkal and is about to go on her very own Pilgrim journey to the Sky Chapel in the south.
She gets to the Great Chillwind Bridge and her curiosity gets the better of her. There’s a reflective part in the rock of the hole in the bridge, and she wants to find out what it is. She fails her Dex save as another part crumbles and she begins plummeting. She uses Off In A Flurry (from my home-made cryomancer spell list) and teleports to 30 feet.. Above the hole. Fails her acrobatics check to catch onto the ledge and plummets into the freezing river below.
She manages to make her way into a small ice cave, which leads to a bigger one. There’s a frost troll up ahead in a larger cavern.
Hilma, the nikiv: I start to back up! Me: Are you trying to be stealthy about it? If so, roll for stealth. Hilma: Absolutely! *rolls* ...... And that’s a 12 total. Me, whose frost troll has a passive perception of exactly 12: ... You see this hulking mass of fur and muscle turn towards you. Hilma: I toss my lantern into the cave and hide in the cave passage! Me, thinking that okay, this is a separate stealth action, let’s give her a chance to improve that stealth roll: You duck down in the passage and hide. Roll for stealth. Hilma: *rolls excitedly* .................................................... 5. Me: ... Ah shite.
She tries to attack the troll who KO’s her in one hit. She wakes up in its lair, it’s saving her as a snack for later. She sneaks away.
Me: Okay.. Roll for stealth. *secretly crossing my fingers* Hilma: Alright, here goes. *rolls* ......................... That’s a 5.
The troll notices she’s gone and hears where she’s going, a chase ensues. Hilma ducks into a narrow side-passage.
Hilma: I hide, I hide! Me: ........... *extremely tempted to just let her succeed, but I have pride in my DM soul* .... Roll for stealth. Hilma: *rolls* ..................................... Me: .... No fucking way. Hilma: ........ Aaaand that’s a total of 5. Me: HOW???
Luckily she got away by the skin of her teeth thanks to some clever use of teleportation magic. But she got away with 0 spell slots and 1 HP.
Quite the intense first session. Let’s hope she has better luck tonight!
