Prompts for Doodlecember 2025
The list of prompts for this year's inaugural Doodlecember has arrived! Each day has a thematic prompt and a technical prompt, but you can feel free to mix and match as you desire, or even forego the prompts list entirely if you'd like.
Do's & Don'ts:
DO:
Set a timer for 31 minutes each day and make a doodle. Put on some music and sip on a warm drink while you do it if you'd like. It can be a character drawing, a background, a still life, whatever you're in the mood for on a given day, with however much detail you want as long as you finish it within the 31 minute timeline.
Use whatever medium you'd like. Digital art, traditional art, a mix of both? Want to try out watercolors? The definition of "doodle" here is pretty loose-- whatever you find fun and relaxing, you can use it for the challenge.
Interpret the prompts however you see fit. If you want to use a technical prompt as a thematic prompt or vice versa, that's fine! If you want to use an abstract or alternate definition, that's fine too! As long as the prompt is worked into the doodle in some way, it counts.
Mix and match days and prompts however it works best for you. The assigned days are merely a suggestion-- if you're not feeling a specific prompt on a specific day, then you can switch days or prompt pairings around until you find a match you like. If you're going for any completion achievements, then the order of posting doesn't matter. If you don't want to follow any of the prompts or alt prompts, then that's alright too-- it'll count for the overall achievement, though it won't count for prompt-completion achievements

You can also tag #doodlecember2025, but we'll be able to find your post easier if you @ this blog. If you post on Bluesky, also tag your art with #doodlecember2025 and we'll share there too!
Tag your NSFW. This includes both sexual and/or violent content-- if your doodles aren't something you'd be comfortable with your coworkers seeing over your shoulder, please tag them accordingly if you decide to share them.
Have fun! This event is more so meant as a laid-back activity than a high-stakes challenge. There's no pressure to complete all 31 days, and no pressure to even share any of your doodles unless you want to. However you want to engage with the event is perfectly acceptable, as long as you're enjoying yourself!
DON'T:
Stress about perfection. These are doodles, not full art pieces. Don't worry too much about getting it perfect-- if anything, it's just a challenge to draw a little bit each day throughout the month.
Feel like you have to complete everything. Do all 31 days if you are up to it, or just do one-- you're still participating either way. If completing your doodling session each day starts to feel like a chore or stops being fun, then take a break, or even stop there if you'd prefer.
Offer unsolicited critique on others' doodles. If you want constructive criticism on your doodles, then say so! Otherwise, it's just best to assume it's neither needed or wanted. This is meant to be a low-key event, not a classroom presentation.
Use generative AI. Generative AI is not an art medium, and while we obviously can't control what you do, we won't be reblogging any doodles that we suspect were made with generative AI. Doodles should be made with your own hands, not a typed-out prompt fed into an algorithm trained on others' stolen artwork.
