i never see positivity posts for people living with DPRD so reminder for all my fellow chronically dissociated folks that if you:

talk to yourself out loud to ground yourself, or just on accident

feel distant or a completely separate person from who you once were

genuinely don't know what day of the week it is, or what month, or what year and feel odd when people joke about that or exaggerate their experience with it

see yourself in 3rd person at times or often

can't get enough sleep because living through near-constant (or constant) dissociation is fucking exhausting

need reminders that you are real, that this world is real

experience more/other DPRD-related behaviors/feelings/experiences

you are valid. if you ever need someone to talk to, i know a fair amount about DPRD from experience and research, and you can ALWAYS shoot me an ask.

and if you need to hear it, this is your reminder, or your sign, or whatever you want to call it, that you are real. this is your body. the world around you is real, and it is yours. you are in the right place. take care of yourself <3

#having dprd is such an experience because its like... dissociation is a symptom in a lot of other disorders + normal during times of stress #so its like i see a post about adhd and im like I GET THAT but its bc of my dprd. and same with depression and anxiety and DID etc #but then on the other hand i dont think ive seen a single post on tumblr just show up on my dash about... dprd??#which 2% of the population experiences i must add???#and its not even just the internet either its like theres No Research On It and if you go to a therapist describing it theyll either be lik #'uhhh sounds like depression??' or correctly identify it and then be like 'yeah that sucks. your options are EMDR (doesnt work if you are #derealized or depersonalised) or meds with a 50% success rate or shocking your brain with an even lower success rate'#LIKE IT SUCKS.#and no ones ever heard of it so you cant be like 'im having a bad dprd day' like you might say to friends if you had anxiety or depression #i always go with 'sorry. im just tired' bc i look it and feel it and thats an easier explanation than 'i havent felt real since i was 13'#i think 2 people in my life understand my dprd to an extent where i can say 'bad dissociation day.' thats ridiculous. i deal with it daily #anyways ive never felt validated about this so im making this post so maybe someone else will. love you my inbox is always open #tobin talks #dprd #really hoping people dont put in the tags shit like OMG!! It specialises in raising awareness and creating support for people with DPDR/DPD/DPRD. I had no idea that such a charity existed - it’s a huge huge relief to find it, and validating to review videos of specialised psychiatrists describing my experiences with such precision.

The charity is based in England, but has support accessible globally.

I wanted to share with you all, because we all needed this so bad. I hope it helps.
