I feel this represents me moderately well.
They'd get along better if it weren't for the whole 'blow up the sun' thing
Thurlow: constantly flouts societal convention, the law, and the boundaries of good taste and safety
Thurlow: why the fuck do all these revolutionaries want to hang out with me, go away
Thurlow is in an unfortunate position, because they love emerald green, but you know how you get the best emerald greens in Victorian times? Arsenic dyes. Paris green is a beautiful colour but it will kill you dead. Apparently the information available at the time about the toxicity of arsenic compounds (as opposed to just straight up pure arsenic) was mostly anecdotal, a general trend of people falling ill and dying from prolonged exposure to green stuff, so I have to wonder whether Thurlow pickily selects green clothes dyed with other pigments or just went “fuck it, it’s not like I’ll stay dead” after adjusting to the Neath.
I do note that they didn’t wear as much green when they were new to the city, it was like a single green waistcoat on a neutral-coloured suit whereas they now wear green suits regularly, so there’s some merit to the second one.
[1:53 AM] CameoAppearance: oh hey it was thurlow's birthday today [1:54 AM] CameoAppearance: they turned 39 [1:54 AM] CameoAppearance: they still look about 16 [1:55 AM] CameoAppearance: 5 years of neathiness [1:55 AM] Athiel: Happy boifday thurl [1:56 AM] CameoAppearance: http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Dr%20Cameo%20%E2%80%9CScary%20Teeth%E2%80%9D%20Thurlow?fromEchoId=2099931 my first echo ever [1:56 AM] Athiel: gives a basket of fresh fruit
Even though I stopped thinking of Thurlow as being much like The Doctor within days if not hours of character creation I still very much enjoy having my player character be described this way
They're turning 46, probably (it's kind of hard to calculate with what the Traitor Empress did to the calendar, but they've been in the Neath for 12 years and they were 34 when they got there).
well, who am I to deny medical science
