A crab-clawed hand held Gangle's ribbony one as they settled against a wall. Zooble's eyes crinkled with concern, and the toybox character let out a small sigh. "So... what's up?"

With Zooble around, the iron grip of depression began to loosen the tension from her chest. "You don't have to always help me when I'm sad, Zooble."

"I want to." They shrugged. "I'm sure you'd do the same for me."

Gangle smiled slowly. "I'm thankful that you want to listen to my problems. I always feel better when I'm around you."

Zooble chuckled. "No problem. Now, what's got you down...?"

Colorful banners and festive balloons hung everywhere. Thankfully, they had store-bought cupcakes, because no one wanted to eat another on of Dean’s cakes.

“When’s you’re birthday?” Dean asked, setting cupcakes on paper plates then impaling them with wax candles.

“I don’t know,” Castiel replied, after a long considering moment.

Dean scoffed incredulously. “Dude, how do you not know your own birthday?”

“I was born centuries before the invention of your modern calendar.” Cas replied, peevishly, then added, “But I think it was a Thursday.”

Chuckling, Dean light a candle then slid a cupcake across the table. “Then Happy Birthday, Cas.”

Day 7: Thankful | Forgotten Birthdays

I was lost in the flood of notifications since this morning, searching only for his message. It wasn't the first time, actually. It kept happening that I had to remind myself that I wasn't his priority at all. But still, I asked myself why he kept forgetting my birthday.

It nearly half past midnight. The screen lit up again. I only looked for his name, but it wasn't there. Even if all I could do was wait patiently, I was still thankful, because now I knew my worth— even if he never did. And I was my own priority now.

Day 7: Thankful - @thedrabblecollective

This, as well as all of the other drabbles I’ll be doing for this challenge, are meant to be (out of order) parts of a novel I’m working on, so they probably won’t make much sense on their own.

She crumpled the letter into a ball, the paper so old that bits of it flew off in the process, and threw it into the Woodsea. Having thankfully completed the task, Cedar reflected that it was not nearly as much of an ordeal as she had made it out to be in the small hours of the night; Now that the old piece of parchment was gone, the information it contained held no power over her psyche, her present, or her future. The only thing it had any relevancy to anymore, she thought as she rejoined Sequoia, was her past.

Ash's recent encounter with Sunny and his parents had left Ash feeling complicated. He hadnt realised Sunny was already dead untill he talked with the grieving couple, and it hadn't hit him untill much later that, yeah. Sunny was dead. And now he found himself grieving for a boy he had bareley even met, who was already gone before Ash had met him. So, yeah. Complicated.

But he was thankful for the experience nonetheless. Meeting Sunny's parents, talking with them, it reminded him, he really should be greatful for what he has, his friends, his mum, and his pokemon, too.

Liselotte still blushed when she thought about last night. 

Sitting on Engetsu's lap, their eyes had locked together, then their lips. It was far from their first kiss by now, but this one had felt more... heated. Surely due to the alcohol, Liselotte had felt more confident and daring, losing herself in the sensations, in him. It had felt good. Really good. Even when Engetsu had gently pushed her back, chuckling and telling her it was time to sleep it off.

Liselotte was thankful for many things in her new life, but today she felt especially thankful for Matthias' gift.
